Dota had a lot of heroes with Cool mechanics. I guess the one you linked is funny because he sounds OP, but they nerfed the crap out of him quite early on.

most of his skills is kind of in lol already.
Heal -> Karma’s KI charge shield.
Shield -> black shield from morgana
slow -> trundle’s pillar, or any heros with aoe aura with rylia.
his ult is too powerful for LoL.
Yup, he’s ported over as Jereziah in HoN. He would completely rape face as a support character in LoL however. Like I said, two completely different games.
For instance if Pantheon was ported across the other way he would be ridiculous
-edit- While idrisz is almost right with the skills, he’s not spot on. Black shield has a limit on the amount of damage it can take rather then simply a duration. Karma’s shield protects and hurts rather then healing and the AoE radiates from the character and also effects attack speed, a bit like an Amumu with Rylai’s and Frozen Heart (except larger radius).
A lot of LoL skills have basic comparisons from DotA though, for obvious reasons. However unlike HoN there are no direct ports of an entire skillset and the majority of skills were at the very least tweaked slightly before they were assigned to a champ.

They aren’t stealing Flint Beastwood’s ult, they’re stealing Dwarven Sniper’s ult as Flint’s a Sniper port. I don’t know who designed Sniper.
I have a proper, full remake of Caitlyn+ in mind that turns her into a ganker carry that can roam effectively, which fits the character and the ultimate better. I don’t think it should be a global because the other globals, except Requiem which can be countered other ways and is best not used as an assassination move because, let’s face it, Karthus is going to die in that fight, are skillshots. A targetted global attack is a bit much in LoL.
The piercing damage (stop stealing my ideas) works best because it keeps the basic ideas of the ult intact but makes it less frustrating for Caitlyn (Assassinate is a ridiculously annoying skill). I’m all in favour of the ratio or damage being upped.
Ez’s ult is a different matter. It reduces in damage quite quickly and is, as I say, a skillshot on a character with no CC.
+A lot of it revolves around changing her traps and swapping her net for a steroid passive/active skill based around ganking and her range. I have a decent one in mind.
Edit: Riftshard/Shrunken Head/Shieldbreaker on Panth would be hilarious.

Ahh Jereziah! I sometimes tried to remember who it was that I loved playing in HoN.
I know he’s a port (in this case I even knew he who he was ported from, Sniper being one of the 4 DotA heroes I know) but I’ve never played DotA and so make the HoN comparisons instead because I’m more familiar with them.

Yeah, but it’s better to make the DotA comparison as the ability ports are lifted from there and it doesn’t imply Riot are stealing stuff from a competitor. Which reminds me, port Lion now. Seriously. Swap the mana drain if you don’t like it, give him poor ratios but port him now.
If you are going to argue that HoN is LoL’s competitor then DotA is aswell. Personally I feel they only became competitors by the happen chance they came out of developed (into Beta) at the same time-ish. The games couldn’t be more different.
It’s like arguing that CoD: MW2 is a competitor to Bioshock 2. Technically true, because they are in the same genre and came out around the same time but in reality this is not the case.
I recently picked up caitlyn and enjoy playing her, but yeah, her ultimate is crap. If I’m in auto attack range, by end game i’ll do far more damage just autoattacking. The long windup often leads to shots that hit corpses too.

My talons are three, and my charge is audacious.
While that may be true at your skill level, it’s not at all true for people even as skilled as me. And that’s going to be 50 games, at least 25hrs of gameplay.
I would definitely call all three competitors. Part of that is due to the fact the genre isn’t very well explored. You don’t call TF2 a competitor to BC2 because everyone is familiar enough with FPSes that the small nuances are important. But in the MOBA genre, there are only really these three games.
As an old time Garen player, I feel compelled to post this:
and
Also, I know i’ve asked this before but it’s swamped in the depths of this thread by now: any decent casters out there?
Oh, just found out these two, brilliant:
Demacia:
Ionia:
I think it makes no sense that his ult scales with AD and Ashe’s doesn’t. He was an AP support champ who morphed into an AD carry.
Bloodline Champions cries alone in a corner.
(And yes I know its different but its still a MOBA)

Not the argument I was making. They are competitors in the same way that vastly different MMO games compete for the same market and with the same aims, in this case creating a game played competitively with a large casual base behind it, but the point was more that DotA is a progenitor and deserves credit for the ideas above the slightly misleading, if justifiable use of HoN as the touchstone. Note that most Hon players still use dota terms.
As pointed out, while they are vastly different games, they are much closer in spirit than most other games in the same genre. But I digress. Port Lion, Riot. Soon. I even have a working character base and theme that fits the story, so you certainly do too.
Five-game win streak - woot! Playing to the team instead of my personal fancy (but still with characters I enjoy) has proven to be quite successful!
