Yeah, but I was expecting a DPS character to be doing the most damage for me. Hopefully it’s a case of Amumu doing consistent good damage over the whole game vs. Carries only doing huge damage at the end (and me having consistently decent games with Amumu vs. hot and cold games with carries). My second most damaging character was Morde but I haven’t really played him since he got nerfed a couple times. Who do most people have as their best average damage per game?
It’s also because it counts damage to creeps. So champs with AoE magic damage will naturally place higher.

The “damage dealt” metric has to be the most useless number in the whole game, really.
Actually it’s pretty hard to interpret any of the numbers as anything but meaningless. I can use “Healing Done” to see how Spirit Visage affected Swain’s ult, and the K/D/A numbers to sort of decide if someone was playing their champ correctly, but that’s about it. Even K/D/A is misleading since many carries are single-target and are not supposed to spread their damage out during teamfights.
Pretty useless.
Gonna have to agree with Pogo here. It only exists so your tanks can laugh at your carry about how they did more damage :)
Time to try Katarina, any decent builds?

Riot needs to start looking at what high ELO teams are building and using every single game.
When 7/10 of the players in the game are GUARANTEED to build/use a combination of Banshee’s Veil, Flash, and multiple Hearts of Gold, you need to take a hard look at those items/abilities and modify them.

Really they need to get rid of the tanky deeps metagame, which means nerfing AoE hell at the same time they beat all the tanky deeps/burst with the nerf bat. Which would involve a lot of ground-up redesign, which will never happen.
Important changes I want:
- An actual replay system. You know, one where I can see the entire map all the time, and where you get proper stats-nerd data at the end of it, so people can see what effect their +mpen runes had on the damage of every spell against every enemy.
- Track the usage of summoner spells, masteries and runes in games. Give the unused ones minor buffs each week until people start using them.
- Remove Flash.
- Make Ryze’s ult double his model size so I can tell when it’s active.
- Champions with abilities that cost health should have these abilities cost %health instead.
I agree. When I flash into my heart of gold to hide, then draw the veil over the top to double its effectiveness, it seems really OP. Maybe I need to buy a few philospher’s stones and think about the problem of avarice in this game.
On a slightly more serious note: flash is balanced now that it doesn’t pop projectiles. It’s repositioning, which some carries (ashe) need, as they have no built in escape. Others (Alistar) need it to position to start a combo. It has a long ass cooldown, and it’s easy enough to force someone to use it and have them be vulnerable for a few minutes after. If it was really OP, I would find it exhausting instead. Maybe you’re seeing a lot of those items / skills because they fit into the tanky meta game (and funny enough BV counters at least part of the combo that flash would set up, etc.) We’ll see if that really gets toned down at all tomorrow.
I take it you don’t play champs without escape, or champs that need precise positioning to execute their combo? This change would destroy certain champs. Try playing fiddle without flash. You’ll be at less of a disadvantage if you play with only 1 hand.

Most of the champs in this game have no escape, so what the hell are you actually talking about? The maneuverability of a champion is presumably built into that champions stats and abilities and considered in terms of balance, yet Flash is decidedly out of balance if 4/5 people decide that they need to pick it to be successful.
And Ashe has several abilities to help her get the fuck out of dodge. Either it’s kiting with Q, AoE slow with W, or stun with R (assuming it’s up, and in many cases to prevent a gank, it is up).
Compare ashe’s repositioning skills to tristana, corki, caitlyn, ezreal. Throwing a aoe slow with W doesn’t help you when any melee champ dashes at you, and they all have short cooldown dash skills (10 second cooldowns, compared to 240 seconds for flash.) Characters like TF can throw a stun, teemo has both movequick and mushrooms, MF has movequick (but also needs flash), sivir can block that dash->CC with spell shield.
How much ashe have you played? I’ve got about 500 games on her. If you don’t build escape on her, she’s just food. Her HP are so low, as are her resistances, that 1 CC will kill her, and many characters have dashs/CC outside of her auto attack range.
Try laning ashe against xin zhao or irelia and see how you do
Yes your right, all the champions in the game were designed before Flash was made available… Oh wait, no thats wrong isn’t it? Flash was obviously taken into consideration when designing and balancing characters, it’s been in the game since Day1 (And well actually nerfed a lot since Day1, Beta version of Flash was hilarious). It’s actually a fundamental part to quite a few characters skill sets, and that’s not just a happy coincidence. Even I don’t underestimate Riots intelligence that much.
And I’m more then happy with Flash. Would you rather Blink Daggers in this game? I mean really? At least this way I can see the champ that is about to initiate on me rather then have him jump in from half the damn map away. Plus it doesn’t break projectiles anymore, which was peoples biggest grievance with Flash to begin with.
I think I need to stop trying to play later at night, I just can’t focus and feed. Happens every time, or at least the last 5 times I’ve tried.
I decided to try out Renekton and I like him, but everything is just so different from say LaBlanc. I’m a melee character with rage, neither of which I’ve used before. I think I need some AI matches to get a handle on him.
Jim, I agree with you that some champs need flash. The only one I’m really familiar with is Ali, but I’ll take your word there are more. I still want Flash removed as a summoner spell. It’s too commonly used and the only way you could make the spell less effective is by blowing out the cooldown, and then it will be even more unexpected and annoying. The solution I want is for these champions who currently depend on Flash to be retooled. (Or for the metagame to come along and discover a way to play them that doesn’t require flash, but let’s be pessimistic and assume that’s not possible.) I basically think it’s a boring spell when everyone has it. I don’t mind the spell in general, but if a character needs it, build it into their core or change them so it’s not needed.
I love Renekton’s rage mechanic a lot more than regular mana. Everything’s effectively cooldown based, but rage is just there to power up your skills for improved damage/healing, damage/stun duration, or damage/armor debuff.
I just watched the champion spotlight for Nocturne, and it looks like a really fun character.
Flash is a throwback to the humble Blink Dagger in DotA (Portal Key in HoN), which is just as widespread as the use of Flash in this game AND you actually have to spend quite a bit of money to get it instead :)
Riot have decided to move away from a large amount of activatable items however, instead moving quite a few common effects to Summoner Spells. I think Riot need to instead look at buffing some of the other spells, rather then nerfing the good ones (look what they did to Exhaust which is now used a hell of a lot more). The same goes for items and champions.
What they are doing now is playing a game of whack-a-mole with whatever people seem to be favouring this time around, nerfing things they call “OP” which in reality haven’t changed since release (like Malphite’s Shield, and OMG I have a problem with them calling him a “tanky DPS”, really? Are we just going to just slap arbitrary terms on whatever the fuck we feel like now Riot?)

Their tags for champions have always been off so calling him tanky dps is not unlike them.
Just went 16/3/23 with Urgot, he is really a great harasser character wish i had tried him sooner.
Harassed an Ashe so much last game that the only thing she could do was pop in, use volley and then ran out before i had her locked down and killed in a few shots.
Love it.
