Nocturne is pretty fun, but I don’t know about his jungling ability. His ability to go flying in with his ult is hilarious, but nobody is going to actually wait until you are level 6 before flipping their shit and screaming for ganks if they are losing their lane. The other problem is that he is just flat out not as good at the actual jungling as any other common jungle hero.

While his ult is huge range, if you’re screen turns red you have a little time to prepare to get the hell out of dodge.

The fog of war is quite the mindfuck, though.

I haven’t played with or against Nocturne yet so I’ve yet to experience it myself, but in principle I applaud the inclusion of new mechanics, especially ones that will fscrew up pubbies without voice chat.

Not sure i’ve ever heard someone against last hitting, deny - well that’s a different matter but last hitting works well. Doesn’t mean i’m good at it - though +500 creep kills last night in the 5v5 was a tad mad, but defending the nexus does that :)

Yeah, that is a really cute mechanic. Well done Riot!

Just went back to play Veigar after taking a break from him, and he is still awesome.

Played 2 ranked games and both times people told me not to pick him that i was going to feed and that it was a bad caster and in both games i carried our team to victory!

People need to learn not to let veigar farm! I don’t know why noone plays him.

Had three two games with Nocturne and we lost both, aww. Once we had a rage-quit failwick, and another time Jarvan (pretty much our only tank) went AFK.

I did ok both times, but entering a fight is usually a one-way ticket to death. I’m thinking I pretty much may need to hold back and just gank near the end to clear up a fight as if you zip in and burst you’re left in the middle of a fight without an escape and not many options for escaping!

Still, he’s really rather fun! Only issue I have with him is he really struggles with mana. I’m tempted to go for an early manamune, but also want to build BF sword items asap… let along fitting a sheen in there somewhere. Oh, and attack speed…

I know what you mean about wanting to fit in sheen, atk speed, etc. That’s why I’ve built trinity force on him a few times. I think it may be better to built more straight damage though. I have built early manamune on him a lot and it does solve the mana problem while still giving you some damage. I think I may move from starting with a doran’s to starting with a sapphire or meki + a few pots. Still, the sheen buff really synergizes well with your passive being up, laying down a dusk trail, and having a huge AOE strike…

So far I’ve found myself more successful with him in 3v3 than 5v5 since once you get a couple ganks he gets focused a lot. Plus in 3v3 you have a lot more map control with his ult. He’s definitely stronger mid-game than late-game, especially if the enemy team doesn’t have any particularly squishy dps. The reality is that the ult is very situational and only really ‘good’ in a gank situation where the enemy team is seperated. In a 5v5 scenario popping your ult is only going to make the other team look for you to show up.

I also like building at least one extra move speed item on him since he’s got a strong base movement, so phantom dancer is a nice fit for damage and scootyness. It helps a lot for getting in and out alive when your normal run is as quick as most champion’s chases, and you can lay down a quick dusk strip for a head start.

He’s part Spectre and part Dark Lady. Riot just put an assassin wrapper on the kit instead of a hard, hard, hard carry one. S2 should respond with a Morgana or Miss Fortune port. There is some bad blood between the two over tournaments, where Riot seem to have a better team doing a better promotion job. Although apparently WCG is a joke anyway.

Or maybe they should not.

Yea I’m with Kirian here, I’d appreciate if people didn’t applaud Riot for showing a complete lack of creativity. I mean whatever about before, this character is a blatant rip from both a popular DotA hero and a very well made HoN hero.

Also in other news, apparently Riot put the wrong patch on the EU. So they need to re-patch the whole thing again. Yes, you heard right. The wrong patch, how is that even fucking possible?

While Q is pretty much identical I believe to Spectre’s skill in DotA the addition of the warp to enemy of Nocturne’s ultimate seems to be a significant addition over Dark Lady’s which doesn’t have this? Though I guess her third skill sort of covers the same thing just broken out into it’s own skill.

Yea, it’s a combination of her Ultimate and leap into one spell.

Go play HoN then.

I like discussing and complaining about changes in the game as much as the next guy, but the spite and bile some people (not only you) shoot into Riot’s direction is just stupid. Not every decision they make might work out, not everything the implement will be the pinnacle of innovation and creativity. Hating them nonstop from an armchair “developers don’t know what they are doing” point really starts to annoy me though.
Being a slightly above average player does not make you the highest authority for comments on everything they do.

The patch thing? Mistakes happen. Compared to deleting the boot.ini (CCP did that once… and it wasn’T THAT big of a deal.) in the root directory this seems like a petty thing to rile about.

I’ve always been amazed at how much people “hate” LoL and “love” HoN, though I know very few people that actually play HoN.

Different aims, different successes and failures. They’re not worth comparing in any other way than holistically. To be clear, I like Nocturne and the way that he has adapted skills from others. I want S2 to take a Riot hero as a display of cooperation between the two. I know for a fact both play the other game. I just thought it worth assigning credit to the correct parties. Although Riot designers may have been behind Spectre, I don’t actually know.

None of that will happen because S2 take after their community more than they should and Riot was set up to make money first. Sad days.

I hear you, but those guys do seem to dislike each other.

When I saw HoN I remember thinking about how much it looked like DotA. I guess that’s why I avoided it, though I’m finding the community for LoL is pretty bad too. I’ve never been so circled out in any game. Ever. Not even playing that bad. Hadn’t played Malphite in a year and finished 4/6/25 with him, and yet I’m the worst tank ever. HES NOT A GANKER.

I hate people

Also: this is dead on. It took Riot a year to release Twisted Treeline because it didn’t make them money. We need more maps and game modes, not 2500 heroes with 4-6 skins apiece.

On the flip side, you can’t give everyone what they want, which is what S2 seems to want to do. Forum trolls and angry gamers have never made a great game.

People are idiots, Veigar has one of the best passive abilities in the game, he just has to farm.

What’s sad is his Ultimate, kind of pointless against quite a few heroes

I got a little boost last patch (or the one before don’t remember), now it does more damage based in your AP but less based on the enemy AP.
