Been playing Akali and Nocturne these last couple of days and Akali is still my favorite. Nocturne really suffers against tank-heavy teams (or tanks and melee dps). He can join a fight easily, but can’t very well finish a fight or escape from one going badly. Akali has a couple of escape options and her burst cycles quicker.
Also, Akali usually easily kills Nocturne, which is great fun.
So for the next week I advise people to play heavier than usual - you will neutralize all the Nocturnes you inevitably are facing.
Or you know, just play Trundle ;)
Also tals, I told ya so :P
Renekton seems to pretty much shrug off Nocturne and eat him, too. At least that’s been my experience playing both as Renekton and as Nocturne.
I’m going to caution anyone against playing right now, the servers just swallowed the XP, IP, etc for a game … and relogging tries to force me back into it, even though we won. New games are also having difficulties.
Also, if you want to skin your launcher here are some examples and the info you need.

Well I guess I don’t really do that, but if it’s a lane push situation that might turn into a 1v1 fight, I will just Q a creep, or press E to keep up 8 stacks as I’m coming to the tower.
Probably just me but this would be like driving a beaten up old banger but you imagine it to be a shiny Ferrari :)
Minecraft there, good man. :)

That’s pretty much the only two icons on my desktop I use anymore.
Also, Urgot is OP as fuck.
On additional tools, I had thought that the standalone client allowed proper mastery pages, but this is not the case. Uses macro recording style and is not very good :(
But I did find this http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=178173 gives you the ability to amend the recommended items build. Nice bit of software and does what it says on the tin. anyone else using any useful apps for Lol?
Heimer sucks, rare good games notwithstanding.
It’s a design feature, really. Heimer is good for area control, however, the evolution of the late game is about running battles and initiation. The other team is never going to initiate or maintain a fight within his turret area.
And Heimer’s my main, but, other AP characters who don’t depend on static area control are typically a better and more effective choice for most games.
As a potential design fix - having his turrets survive his death . . . my typical ‘problem’ as Heimer is dying too quickly to people who are ignoring the turrets.
Heimer is an anti-melee character and is amazing at what he does. But he is a counter pick and should only be picked up as one or in certain specific team comps. Thus he is going to feel very lackluster if you have not followed that advice.
This doesn’t mean he’s a bad champion.

Yeah, gonna have to disagree with “Heimer sucks.” With his turret change, he can plop two down at any teamfight and the turrets will be ignored until after they’ve already done 3,000 HP worth of damage to a team’s collective hit point pool, and if Heimer’s team’s fight is being lost, his ult turns them into a veritable team slowing mechanism. His rockets and electro blast are both considerable AoE harassment abilities.
His turrets also make him nearly unharassable. Sure you can kill him, but you’re going to take a shit ton of damage attempting to do so unless you’re a champ that can afford to blow mana on taking the turrets down at range (Urgot, Ezreal, maybe Tristana?)
I recall Cass being pretty good at laning against heimdinger.

Yeah I didn’t give a very complete list. Anyone that has a long ranged attack that doesn’t take too much mana. Nidalee would also work but her spear shouldn’t be spammed at low levels.
He has a hard time against Akali and probably other assassin types too. Which I suppose is only appropriate.

I beat caitlyn in early game just by just leave 3 points in turret and going max missile first, caitlynn outrange my turret with her auto attack, but then my missile just take out chunk of her hp.
heimer is a good farmer even without using his turrets once you get blue buff or having Arch angels.
he is really at his best during a push, when both side are just poking back and forth, he deal so much damage without getting close, you almost ends up winning the poking war with a heimer.
vs melee assassin like noct or akali, anticipate the dash, grenade stun, drop 2 turret, ult and spam missile, you end up killing your assassin before they can kill you. he is excellent vs melee heroes just because the grenade is so fucking deadly, blind will make akali miss the auto attack that proc the mark if timed correctly.
Thoughts so far, as a lvl 12 newbie.
I can play, and not completely suck, with Soraka, Teemo, Swain. Not dominate, but contribute to a victory, or not feel have let side down, and good chance have better stats than opposing Teemo/ Swain (almost never see another Soraka)
I can play Nasus, but suck compared to others I see play him, i.e. don’t think I add anything to the team. Haven’t tried Urgot yet
I completely and utterly suck with Annie and Anumu. As in am just gold for the opposing side, and my team would be better off without me.
I think the issue is timing, especially combo timing. With my OK 3, I don’t particularly have to think much about it. Soraka just heals & silences, Teemo is pretty much auto attack and drop mushrooms with a blind if anyone is in range, and Swain is AoE. Trying to work out with the two A’s what I should be doing in what order. Ugh. Same reason I ignore actives - I just never remember to trigger them :(
I love Heimer - Heimer absolutely suits my playstyle and my preferred game plan (lane control, area control, melee denial, etc.)
Heimer sucks is an exaggeration, but, ultimately, other AP characters bring more to the game than Heimer, in almost all situations, because of the nature of late game LOL, which is not about static area control - but instead about Tanks initiating combat with some form of CC handy, while DPS peels down the other team.
3 out of 4 of Heimer’s abilities he cannot control the damage and focus fire like other DPS.
And his inherent squishy nature means that, in a running team fight, he is targetted and eliminated quickly, also removing his turrets from the fight.
So, again, in almost all circumstances 5 on 5 and 3 on 3, given the nature of current LOL - other AP choices are better.
