don’t get malady…

lifesteal doesn’t work too well in team fight especially with focus firing.

I think if you need lifesteal just get one bloodthirster is really enough.

I been playing around with getting occult blade for the last few games, worked out pretty well, I go vamp scepter -> BF sword -> berserk boot -> bloodthirster -> occult blade, and we usually win the game after 1 good team fight because snowball effect on your character with the occult blade, after occult I work up the phantom dancer since it helps with dps output by increasing attack speed and crit.

Also moving fast is extremely nice since you have like the longest range auto attack in the game you can kite even other range characters.

Oh yeah as trist, get red buff as much as you can, with red buff, ganking and killing becomes extremely easy almost no one can escape from you.

Yeah - actually, it works quite well on 3v3 I think, but on 5v5 you get burned down too quick when you need your max DPS to burn a guy and then run.

And occult blade? There’s no such item in the database. You mean “Sword of the Occult”? Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ll go Vamp, then BF then the boots and then the bloodthirster. A little life steal is quite nice.

It sounds like you’re not stacking a lot of damage items on there? I guess the speed and crit chance makes up for it. Hmm.

with a fully stack bloodthirster and sword of occult, trist already pushing 200+ damage a shot.

bloodthister is extremely cost efficient if you can get a full stack. once you start getting stack with sword of occult you be pushing 300+ damage a shot.

My rune page for Trist is 80% Armor penetration, so I have passive 30 armor pen, since non-tank rarely stack armor, basically every shots I land do full damage instead 20% less.

Note that idrsiz is crazy, and that what works for him won’t necessarily work for you.

Though, yes, he’s less crazy than bunny.

Thanks - yeah I tried this build just now on 3v3. We were playing fairly poor players, but even so it seemed to go well. Takes a while to get going - the Bloodthirster is an expensive buy. As for the sword, it’s pretty cool, I can see it being a cheap but potent damage add.

With both and the boots you’re stacking a lot of hitting hard up front, right? And then Phantom Dancer to get your attack speed and crits up for the end game. End result - a little life steal, potenially great damage and reasonable speed and crit chance.

What do you go after that? Something like Last Whisper? Zeal? Another phantom dancer? (if possible, can’t count slots hehe).

I’m sure some people disagree or think it’s a broken record, but a few of those items are on the ‘official list of bad purchases’ for 99% of characters.

Malady is bad in almost any situation simply because there are other options that either give the same or more for less. Stark’s or Bloodthirster or a combo of other items are better than Malady almost always.

Berserker Greaves are the worst choice for boots simply because every other type of boot gives something you can only get from boots, and the Greaves give you something that not only can you get in several other forms, but attack speed is actually not all that good without damage.

Zeal isn’t a bad item by any means, but Phantom Dancer is pricey for what you get especially since it doesn’t give any actual +AD to help abilities. PD is probably the best of the ‘bad’ items though.

Last Whisper used to be awesome, but since they changed how math for armor pen is calculated, you’re better off getting brutalizer/Ghostblade/black cleaver unless the opponent has really stacked armor (like 200+ armor) since the % pen is now the last thing calculated. Void Staff is similar, but used in a few more situations for various reasons.

You are probably right, the initial build was just something I threw together to see what a lot of life steal would do. It is funny, but perhaps only much use on a 3v3 and you end up shorting yourself on DPS to do it.

The revised build works well, Trist needs damage and attack speed and crit chance - arguable damage and crit chance first.

I would love to see a suggested Trist build from yourself as you clearly know your theorycrafting far better than I!

I usually start off with a Doran’s Shield for survivability as Trist. Life steal is nice but I generally go for the better damage output of Infinity Edge as my first major item (yes, a stacked Bloodthirster does better damage, but that’s hard to count on). After that I get a defensive item (usually banshee’s veil) if I’m getting focused. If not, then a Bloodrazor, Last Wisper, or Blood Thirster depending on enemy comp.

Ms. Fortunes rebound shot should not hit champions that are invisible or hidden in bushes.

heh. I got a hilarious kill with that yesterday; kass was behind another champion, fleeing for his life. I fire at the closer one, it bounces toward kass right as kass blinks over a wall and out of sight, at which point it reaches kass and kills him.

Anytime you think about getting a Malady, just get Stark’s Fervour instead.
This is why Malady is worthless: for a few hundred more gold you get more than twice as much lifesteal, about the same attack speed, instead of adding 5 magic damage it reduces the enemy team’s armor, and finally the lifesteal and attack speed is in an aura for your team. Even if someone else on your team has Stark’s, the fact that the aura will now stack once for the people holding it means it is always better than Malady.

This is kind of the same reason no one should ever buy Beserker’s Greaves; even though they aren’t TERRIBLE items on their own they are utterly outclassed by items of similar price and purpose. Phantom Dancer and Last Whisper on the other hand have situations/builds where they aren’t the least useful thing you can buy.

On a completely different topic, I personally think Sona is fun to play but not really overpowered. Mostly because her ult is pretty… lackluster. The dance stun thing is so short (1.5 seconds - merc treads) that you barely even see anyone’s dance animation start before they stop again. I would rather it did no damage and made everyone, including your teammates that it hit, dance properly for like 5 seconds. That would be hilarious.

Really what I’m saying is that I want to stop the game in its tracks and make everyone dance while I laugh.

Most everyone here is on the Europe servers right?

If not, I feel free to add me:

Chaplain

I think only a few of us are europe the vast majority are us. I’m on both but I need the us voip details if I am to play there. Really not likeing any form of randoms in the team.

We had an awesome gank last night. 4 of there players decided to hit our middle tower. I sent an arrow down, teleported in as I came out fiddle was coming from the back with his ult and it was all over - was just so sweet on the timing

Also managed to win a game on 25 mins, the b######s still managed to call a surrender but that ended and the nexus died at the same time. All level 30’s and +200-400kills

If I can get my ashe fed either farming or kills its wonderful but starve him early game and I then struggle with him to catch up as he is so vunerable without the big shots

Let’s hope we can get more games like last night, tonight!

Agreed, this game can be an awesome experience but bitter when it doesn’t go so well :(

With the comments in mind to-date I popped this build together for Tristana. Yup, it’s lifesteal-heavy, but I think that could be a laugh. Perhaps, instead of Stark’s, Madred’s Bloodrazor would be a better build. It pops the damage to over 400 and attack speed is still nearly 2.0. Also, that damage doesn’t include the stacking damage you can get from the two swords.

Oh, and double bloodthirsters is pretty funny as well! …but it’s hard to build. You end up picking them up last if you get the occult blade early - which I kind of think would be fun - stack that damage up front - kill bads and take advantage of your explodey shot. Hmmm. Maybe pick up the occult blade later… Hmm, this is buildable. The kindlegem is anything that can be built from a one slot upgrade. Build order. Buy Doran’s Blade, Bloodthirster, Occult BLade, Phantom Dancer, sell Doran’s, build Infinity’s Edge, another Bloodthirster, build Kindlegem.

Yeah. I love theorycrafting… but I’m not much good at it =)

Ok, so that build works REALLY well. Here’s the build order and the why.

  • Doran’s Blade : The extra damage really helps the splashing and the last kills early on. Noticeable improvement in cash income, IMHO.

  • Vamp Scept : Start of Bloodthirster.

  • Long Sword : (I am too impatient for BF hehe)

At this point your +damage is quite high and you can kill waves quite quickly and last hit very often. Very handy.

  • Occult Blade : (again, too impatient for BF)

You’re extra damagey now and killing enemy heroes is pretty easy.

  • BF Blade, then Bloodthirster.

You’re damaging and fast killing. You can even slow down on levelling the explode minions spell now, much earlier than I normally would, and focus on Q and W, giving you great hero killing powaz.

  • Work up Phantom Dancer, then Infinity’s Edge or that Veil thing if you’re facing someone magicy (like Karthus, who slaughtered our team last game with his ulti - 954 damage, ouch).

  • Another Bloodthirster after selling Doran’s. Or some other +damage item.

  • Some single item or potion or something.

Build done! Sweet!

just had the most insane match playing Garen.

went 24-0-3 or something, we killed them before the 25 minutes mark.

I’m Garen, I go where I pleases basically sum up the whole game.

had fully stack of occult, got one sunfire, one force of nature, boots of swiftness as well as Zeal at very end, no one could got away from my whirlwind, I was doing like 700 speed+ with ghost and Q popped.

P.S

I was doing 1vs2 lane, I score first kill at lvl 3.

here is the pictures, oh yeah Sona is OP.

Garen can be a monster. More than once, I’ve seen a solo Garen take a 2v1 lane (teammate is jungling) and without any assistance, gets the double kill against both opponents by levels ~5-7.

He doesn’t look that bad on paper but if he builds at all tanky it seems like he ends up almost impossible to kill with still-decent damage.
