That’s a pretty interesting key layout you’ve got going.
I think its the “Y” key that does that.
after the lock comment and the buying items as a whole comment, you really might want to skim some of the new player forum on the official site ;)
it’s ‘Y’ btw to lock/unlock the camera on you
I use smart cast as my defaults for qwer, makes skill shots sooo much easier.
I probably should - I thought I had scowered enough of them - but there are a lot of guides in a lot of places.
Elementz has an interesting thread on the “top” champions. I’d not heard of some of them so went and browsed their shop info. I have to admit - I can see why he chose the ones he did. Some really interesting opportunities presented by those selections.
* Tier 1: Galio, Morgana, Amumu, Ashe, Sona, Garen, Warwick, Kog'Maw, Janna, Anivia, Annie, Taric, Shen
* Tier 2: Miss Fortune, Tristana, Twitch, Kennen, Kassadin, Twisted Fate, Xin Zhao, Udyr, Vladimir, Ezreal, Olaf, Shaco, Sion, Pantheon
* Tier 3: Heimerdinger, Corki, Veigar, Zilean, Poppy, Akali, Rammus, Nasus, Kayle, Nunu, Gragas, Singed, Mordekaiser, Yi, Karthus.
* Tier 4: Sivir, Fiddlesticks, Malphite, Soraka, Blitzcrank, Gangplank, Nidalee.
* Hard to place on a team: Swain, Jax, Katarina, Alistar, Ryze, Urgot, Eve, Teemo, Mal'zahar, Tryndamere, Cho'Gath, Mundo
The Elementz list is good but unless you’re playing only high ELO ranked matches it can be a little off-base. It’s useful to decide which characters are worth practicing but at lower levels you’re always better off picking according to your preference and team composition. Fiddlesticks, for instance, is tier 4 on Elementz but a good jungle Fiddle plus an AOE/stun team is unstoppable in unranked matches. Plus, in my experience, Elementz is kinda fickle.
Gah, I miss LoL, my life has been pretty hectic recently and what little free time I have I’ve spent playing Civ V.

Oh, man. So copet and I did a couple ranked matches (my second and third ever). First one we had a sona who was easily the worst level 30 I’ve ever seen, and probably among the worst players. Wondering off on her own into the enemy jungle when we were pushed back to our base, that sort of thing. It was still pretty close, but we lost. Didn’t help that I didn’t do better than 1:1 as kog (yes, kog wasn’t banned. It was my turn to ban and I think I typed something in the text box due to push-to-talk because I couldn’t find kog and I ended up not banning a second hero. And then I got first pick, so, y’know, kog). Their cho rocked me mid, so I wasn’t able to farm much and it turned out copet’s critplank was our real carry, which was a bit embarrassing.
But the second game. Oh, man, the second game. It was fucking great. Well, kinda. At 33 minutes I called a surrender, but it was vetoed. We’d lost all our inhib turrets, and were down two inhibs at once at one point. However, every time baron was up we managed to take it, and we started winning team fights, and eventually won. It got pretty hairy a couple times, but man. Ended up going 12/0/8 as trist, which felt fucking great. Copet was a damn fine cho, as well.
Basically, every game I’ve played in the past week or so with trist, I’ve done really well, even if my team hasn’t. Rocket jump is incredible. There were many situations in the second game where if I hadn’t had it, I would have died. As per usual, the team retreats and I realize it too late so I’m stuck shooting on the front lines. As ashe, miss fortune, kog, or sivir, I die. As tristanna, I bounce away and ghost if necessary. Y’know, unless I get stunned.
The funny thing about Kog is that they only remade his Q. Caustic Spittle used to give him a passive 25% armor penetration that jumped up to 50% when you used its active. The only change they made to him was changing that to a 25% attack speed passive that reduces armor by a flat 25 when used. Apparently that was enough to take him from “useless” to “godlike”.
I’ll actually be happy if they manage to balance him a bit more, so that people will stop whining at me to get Madred’s whenever I want to mortar people.

That was a fun game! Cho is the ultimate anti-carry. I think my build was the dodge/armor boots, Angel Staff, Banshee, Lich Bane, and Rylai’s. Pop em up in the air, silence, and devour them. I don’t care if you are Olaf up in my face, or rammus trying to tank :D
But yes, I think mx was deathless that game too, which I didn’t notice till the end. The guy on our team said we played awesome together and even asked if we were on voice chat together.

He does note most of those things in his discussions and in the notes I think. Team composition and proper counter picks will generally trump simply picking the best heroes (assuming equal skill level of all involved).
Its worthwhile to read the list and his justifications so you can at least have an understanding. Obviously at lower Elos a highly skilled player with a certain character will do more against uneven competition.

Yeah, the attack speed is good enough that it’s worth leveling despite no one ever wanting to be in range to use Q’s active ability. Like I suggested pages ago, they should just keep madred’s from stacking with W and then possibly buff his survivability some and he’d be ok. They could also fix how his ulti works with AP if they haven’t done that yet.
I don’t think I’d play him regardless but I’d hate to see him nerfed into uselessness (mostly because I paid RP for him and have played him like… three times).

between kog or MF/Trist I take MF and trist pretty much any days now especially in random pugs.
Kog dies way too easily, you be the focus of their entire group without any escape skills.
MF and Trist farm better and have useful escape skills, plus MF’s Ult is just awesome in team fights.
Last night I was Trist, mid lane, vs Ryze. Damn he is a annoying. The stun is frustrating but so is the fact that in two very early battles I had him at 5%, whereas I was dead.
That player was very good and went on to dominate for his team (although we won the map) and left me pondering counters.
In that game I built Trist a bit odd. I got the 3 boots, a selection or armor and magic defense and then finished Ghostblade before moving back towards crit items later in the game.
I decided to tank a bit as damn Ryze kept wtfpwning me and no one else was. I was usually doing enough damage to the others, or had friends around, so the only “challenge” on the board was Ryze.
I couldn’t help but think that I could have found some awesome counter to his magic, but I never cracked it before it became irrelevant.
So, what do you do when faced with a feeding magic blaster guy like Ryze?
P.S. I love the look/style of the sad mummy. Might have to try him next. Hehe.

Just wanted to chime in to say this game is rad, I’ve been having a lot of fun over the last few days. I’m level 10, and I’m kind of worried that I’m going to hit a wall as soon as I level up and stop playing against people who are terrible, but so far it’s great.
I just played a game as Morgana, and I was getting enough kills while farming that I ended up several levels above the other team, and way better equipped. At one point I took on all five of them on my own, and I killed three before the others ran away. Loved it!
I’m a bit worried though, because I only have a vague idea what skills most other champions have, and for a lot of them I don’t really know who’s a carry and who’s a tank. Did you guys make a concerted effort to play every character a bunch and read up on their moves and roles? I want to keep playing and having fun, but memorizing all that stuff sounds like a lot of work. Maybe the unranked games stay pretty casual?
Banshee’s Veil is your friend in those instances. Veil or GA are the only survivability/tanky items a carry will ever buy (Barring the obvious Frozen Mallet or Rylais).
Also Amumu is my main so if you needs tips there I’d be happy to help. He’s an awesome character but harder to play then he seems ;)
Yeah, I got GA and forgot about veil. Should have aimed for it too! Thanks. And yeah. I think I will grab the mummy soon.
Generally you only want one or the other not both.
In that game I was hiding from everything until anyone on my team could kill Ryze. Hehe. But the veil is one I will look at more closely in future :)

Yes. Not just reading about their moves and capabilities, but *playing *as many champions as possible elevated my LoL gaming.
When you see a champion use an ability and you know the details (especially the cool-down) it can make a huge difference on your follow-up actions and tactics - especially during the early-mid game.
This. That ridiculously scary Rhyze ain’t so bad after you play him and realize that after he blows his load he’s useless for 12 seconds ;)
Same goes for anyone you have trouble playing against. By playing a game or 2 with them you’ll quickly realize how easy it is to counter them.

No. It came with time. Also with constantly asking “Who is that guy, and what does he do?”
Like, after plank one shotted me. “What the fuck just happened?”
