yes, realism versus is clearly geared for the newer player…

Well, that would be a minority opinion on realism versus.

Holy crap I was way off. Looks like there are a bunch more crybaby casuals playing the game that want to survive longer as survivors than I had thought.

As people should. The game changes remarkably as a cooperative effort in realism mode. The game’s scoring is based on how far a team can get through a map without being trampled to death, and realism accentuates this. The standard versus mode has too many medkits and throwables, and I have no idea why people want matches to go on for so long that everyone makes it to the safe room nearly every time.

We should get Tom to join us for a game of realism vs :)

I think he has the 360 version.

meh, I’m not much of a versus fan, but I can understand why it’s popular.

I’d be more interested in mutations that could span all the game types by their nature and that didn’t necessarily just make the game harder.

Game-specific mutations were pretty much a given, I think. They won’t all be that, I’m sure.

Follow the Liter is way more fun then it expected. Plus it works with custom Scavenge maps, so I put a bunch on there. These are all up:

hellhouse2.vpk
4below.vpk
contact.vpk
escapefromparkdale.vpk
g03_cinema.vpk
villagev2.vpk
deadly_dispatch.vpk
hallowedwinter.vpk
whitehole_v4.vpk

My only complaint with last night was the way you often got stuck back at the generator to spawn as Undead. But that seems like it’s a problem native to the maps.

It was really fun, otherwise.

Yeah that did kinda suck. Seemed to be happening on that inner city amusement ride entrance map in THe Passing all the time.

Follow the Liter is fun though. And it’s such an awesome name for the mutation, too. Someone give whoever comes up with this shit a raise.

That was fun last night and I think I prefer it to regular scavenge. Even though you have the entire team going at the same time it is easier to set up ambushes as they are on the clock to get it back. Also it makes getting the can destroyed really useful as there are no other cans they can go to while it is respawning.

Also the level design for The Passing maps was really good for scavenge as well. Lots of ways to separate the survivors.

I’ll say it was useful seeing how a hunter has the side effect of being so low to the ground when pounced on someone that the dropped gas can is in danger of being shot by anyone with a shotgun or assault rifle.

I loved the water in the swamp scavenge, as it made it quite difficult to move fast- but there werent too many areas for infected to spawn.

Yeah, it was quite easy to figure out how to cover the area. Even so, some of those really thick trees let you spawn close to the party. The people on lookout have to be on top of things.

Oh come on, you don’t understand why people want to survive to the end of the game (match, round, etc.)???

Also… as you ramp up the difficulty, you’ll encounter less people who want to participate. That’s just general nature.

Very close game tonight:

The infected chooser definitely makes the game more enjoyable, the infected team isn’t scratching it’s head wondering why there’s no charger or smoker spawning for three turns.

Yeah I can understand.

Yes, it’s a more more interesting map for scavenge than say the DC Finale (I’ve barely played any of them others and can’t comment much. I didn’t like what I saw from Dark Carnival).

New Mutator is up.

Last Gnome On Earth
Protect the gnome at all cost.
Do you crave attention? Want all the infected to swarm you and the gnome you are carrying? Then we have the game mode for you. The team needs to carry the garden gnome from start to finish in any campaign. The common infected hate the gnome and will swarm whoever is carrying him. Watch out putting him on the ground, a boomer explosion will send him flying!

Campaign mode only, though. :( Anyone else up for trying it?

I will be, the AI doesn’t work too well with it as they won’t pick up the gnome. I do wish that this along with bleed out would be available for vs mode as it seems like it would have an interesting affect with it.

I am in: but big storms by me, so I dunno if i can make it at normal time.

Yeah same here.
