It appears you need 5 players, I’d imagine one person serves as an alternate in case of technical difficulties.

I’d be an alternate at best I think, my mic is on the fritz again for some reason and you definitely would want 4 mics in an actually competitive game. Also be prepared for everyone to cheese everything to the max, as well as take advantage of all the advanced infected techniques we never bothered to learn.

I think me, jab, copet and pyhric would be my dream team.

There’s no reason there couldn’t be another team, so many of us are good players that fielding another should be doable. I still remember when Staff/Houngan/Gourmand/thornfalconeye beat Jab, me, and 2 others.

Don’t forget LazyShiftlessBastard, he’s great other than not having a mic.

As much as I’d love to do something like that, I don’t consider myself tournament material. My skill rises and falls depending on my team. Also I suck at tank. I did, however mention this to my coworker who is insane with the hunting rifle.

I have class in the mornings/afternoon on weekdays. I didn’t see anything about when these games would be played. I imagine there will be a lot of teams/games. Anyone have anymore information?

We managed to Kill Jab First (or Trey.)

I haven’t been playing or have a mic, or I would offer my services. I would advise the team to get together and pick rally points at all the main areas in the maps; everyone running to the same spot during a panic is what separates good teams from bad. Or keeps good teams from separating, which is the same thing.

You have to know your steamid to create/join a team, so I won’t be creating or joining a team til I get home.

if you need to know how to find your steamid, just connect to any server in a valve game, open the console and type status. you steamid will be 3 numbers separated by colons, like this 0:0:8888

I’m thinking at least initially it will be up to the teams to work out what time works for matches. There’s only 11 days of competition, though, and there’s a ton of teams (200+, but not all have 4 players) so it’s not like we’ll be able to just wait until the weekend.

I’m still interested I think. How serious are you guys about this? I think it would be fun, and I think we have a good team, but I’ve never done anything competitive really. Would you guys want to practice at all or walk through an easy campaign together to plan out things? Or just wing it? ;)

I have played other games competitively, namely Quake CTF and Quake 2 CTF back in the day. My biggest advice is don’t get shaken by a bad map or round. Frustration loses more games than you can imagine. Be aggressive. If you are unrelenting, more often than not- especially in this game- someone will freak out and start making mistakes.

Also, I’d have to play after 7PM PST weekdays, which may suck for others.
