Well, if the infected know the witch has spawned, most likely SOMEONE is goin down ;)
Exactly. Camp the witch, save the boomer, and either drag or pounce whoever goes after her. Get a good boom on them as she takes down the first survivor, and things can get hot quickly.

Are we still talking about the same thing? Because you are turning me on…
Uhh… anyway.
I still haven’t played this since the melee change came out, but my buddy/temp roommate loves it. Sings it’s praises all the time, etc. Does everyone else still have a pretty positive feeling about it?
And in case anyone missed the news on the official blog yesterday: Team-based matchmaking! Woo!!!
To support the SDK, we are extending the matchmaking system to allow for third party campaigns. We will be adding extra features so players will be able to find dedicated servers running the campaigns they have installed. They will also be able to see friends playing third party campaigns, and be directed to download them as necessary. Another major feature we are planning to add to the matchmaking system at a future date is team-based Versus matching. This will allow two teams of four to locate each other and compete in a Versus match.
We are also revamping our player matching based on skill level. Currently the system tries to match people with the same skill level and best pings together. We will be revisiting this system to tweak it based on data we have collected.
Whoa, is there an invisible skill ranking system? If so I vote to make it visible, I’d love to see my “official” ranking and that of others playing. Heh, maybe the collectively high group ranking is what is keeping the pubs out of our pub smashes.

I hope this means they’re bringing back the stat page at some point. At this point should we be expecting any more changes before the patch, or is patch day going to be crazy?
edit: So it’s true, our combined awesomeness is why we keep on getting server crashes :) The game just can’t handle our skill.
I’m chomping at the bit for the SDK. I haven’t made a level in 3 or 4 years, but this game is making me - forcing me - to take it up again. Can’t decide if I should do a mall - like that isnt going to be done to death - or a 30 days of night ‘mining town’. Could replace the Tank with a bigfoot or a yeti for giggles…
I put in the question about no one joining our server to a Valve buddy today…got nothing back yet.

Ehhh, stats and rankings can ruin a team game. If you try to play with pubbers, it will be every man for themself :P
I’d like to formally request admin status for the group from Pogo, since Pogo hasn’t been on in a while. I just received a clearly fake threat from someone pretending to be a Steam administrator who apparently joined the group just to do that.

Here was the message:
2:59 PM - -S-TEAM -P-OWERED Hello, i am from Valve Powered (steam support), we have identified two or more ips logging on to this account. This may be due to a hacker. In order to verify your account information, we will need your Steam login and password in the following format: Username-Password. If you do not verify your account now, it will be permanently banned.
Remember, no-one with any real authority will ever ask for you account and password in a chat.

That’s really the dead give away right there.
I got one from someone similar recently. My hack sense pinged it right away and I asked for details. The hacker hemmed and hawwed for a couple of minutes and then asked for my account info again, or I’d be kicked off the system. I told him ‘Then do it right now. Kick me off.’ ‘Uh, well…we cant do anything with your account until you log off. We need your account information.’ At which point I said no.
Less than thirty seconds later, he logged off, and I couldn’t find the account on steam at all anymore (he had been on my friends list for 1 day).
I just told him I wasn’t going to tell him my account info and that I was going to report him to Steam, and he went offline immediately.

To kick someone, the group has to be Invite-Only. I’ve gone ahead and done that, as I think at this point we’ve got everyone that is associated with Qt3 in one way or another. I also kicked that member.
All members have invite rights.
I’m going to say that I know somebody who fell for this today and ponied up their info, before hitting himself on the head right after he pressed enter and changing his password, e-mail, and all of his internet passwords.
Apparently it was a long day and he was on autopilot… I think it’s pretty funny that anybody gets hit by this stuff ;)
It was pretty convincing (he managed to make it so his messages appears like this “name message” instead of “name:message” all in the same color, I’ve never seen that before), but ultimately common sense prevails that a real Steam admin doesn’t need your name and password and that’s a really retarded test for if you are a hacker (if a hacker got in it means he has the password and would pass that test anyways, TRY HARDER).
Oh and the fact that there is a little warning never to give your password in chat AND if you try to send your password in a chat a dialogue comes up and says “what are you fucking stupid? don’t send your password in chat, moron”.
He still sent it. I’m surprised he didn’t commit sepukku right there. He’s fairly mortified, but we all had a laugh.
Just the fact that the invite was from S_team P_owered was enough for me to think “uhhhh…”
So our group of CoD4ites is thinking about picking this up because we all kinda want a change of pace. A couple of guys have it already and it allows 4 people to play at once (only 2 down from 6) so it seems like a good choice for that. My question is, does the game hold up in single player? I just kinda hate to buy a game for 60 bucks that needs multipayer to be fun.
No, it doesn’t. It’s fun as hell for the first few times, but you’ll quickly tire of the maps. Also, you’ll reach a skill level in short time that makes Advanced very easy with AI but Expert impossible with AI.
