I fully support the Kill Jab First Initiative.

I think a problem here, and in any other cooperative online team games, is that some players don’t want to speak up out of respect for other players. If I were to say “we need a teamswitch,” it means that I have to make a judgment call on who to switch out, and usually I’m not sure if I’m going to hurt someone’s feelings by suggesting that they should go to the other team and we should get a “better” player. The game is frustrating sometimes, but we should all do our best to be cool. Some of the slower players will speak up and say “ok I’ll switch” which will provide a better gaming environment for everyone. If one team is getting slaughtered, then the new players might get frustrated and not learn anything.

One thing that we should start doing more often, and which I’ve found makes for a great game right off the bat, is to simply choose the teams in the lobby. If people mention that me and Jab shouldn’t be on the same team, then cool, we’ll go off the “Pogo and Jab smoke crack while playing L4D and are stupidly accurate so they should be ‘team leaders’” metric, and we’ll have a fun game off the bat.

For what it is worth, I never have a problem switching teams at any point in the game. Sadly, I’m really bad about not being able to stay through a full game.

That’s very interesting.

Actually, I think “Kill Jab first” started as verbal instructions and then it became a mantra. It wasn’t me because I am not witty enough to come up with something like this.

P.S. I vote to stake Pogo.

i can has QT3 L4D group invite plz?

I’m getting a little cognitive dissonance on the image macro above. Shouldn’t the shark be shouting “OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH” or something?

Wrong meme.

Hey, is there an etiquette for not being able to finish a Vs. match? I never play L4D because it just takes too damn long to play through a full match of it, and I feel bad dropping out of a match with people I know (especially if it means I was taking the slot away from somebody else here).

Suggest can always do events for 1 hr matches instead - start at map 3/4 instead of map 1.

Tell everyone before the game starts how long you can stick around. If you can find someone to replace you before you drop (check the Qt3-L4D group) that is best.

It would also help if we could get a match started without milling about in the chat room for half an hour.

How about scheduling events? Say either a couple of days or an hour in advance? That allows people a bit more control with timeflow.

Anyone can schedule events, unfortunately some people (such as myself) are the type that won’t really remember a scheduled time, we just sort of jump into the chat room at the same time and make a game spontaneously.

Since I may be the last one awake from our late ,late, late game I just have to say that lazy ,staff, spooky and I managed to pounce the entire pub team during the DA finale as they left the start with 4 hunters and it was just awesome to watch.

Yeah, I love that the entire other team ragequit after we played surivors so everyone was new. They walked out of the saferoom and all died immediately as it started raining hunters. Then right to the end score, no time to even ragequit.

Great ending, or GREATEST ending?

My favorite moment in the game so far, The elevator- which no one ever wipes at, me another hunter and a boomer all spawned in the elevator, smoker on the roof of the elevator, and we managed a wipe-in the elevator.

Hello! I’m always reading these forums (but, as you can see, I don’t post too much =P), I recently signed up for Steam and bought Team Fortress 2, which is an awesome game, but I’m pretty interested in Left 4 Dead as well, I would like to know if you guys could tell me if I should just wait for the sequel of if it’s worth to buy L4D right now with its current price.

Thanks.

It depends on what you want and your general level of play in FPSes. If you are a quick learner you’ll get up to speed fast, and the first few months are awesome… a perfect gaming experience. Otherwise it’s a little bit hard to catch up, but that’s just my opinion. In addition, valve HAS always been good about things and I think it will be beneficial to have L4D AND L4D2 as opposed to just L4D2, however they end up doing things.

L4D is THE most unique FPS multiplayer experience out there and it is very enjoyable… the only whining you see about it is after months and months and months of playing the same four campaigns ;)

It’s the last bastion of true co-op. and co-op vs. co-op is even better. I really think you would get your value out of it even if you dropped it as soon as L4D2 came out.

Caveat: I love team games, and I love teamwork in games, so L4D is pretty much my perfect game. If you’re more of a “I want to see MY name at the top of the score list” then you won’t enjoy it as much.

H.

Thanks for the replies. I’m not a really good player (my reflexes are pretty bad!), but I like teamwork and the game seems to be really fun, so I’ll probably buy it once I get past my newfound TF2 addiction. Once again, thanks a lot! =)
