When you have a first past the post voting system only people who have no interest in actually participating in the politcal system end up getting attracted to third parties.
Compare that with the greens party in Australia and in countries in Europe, where they offer a serious environmentalist alternative to the major parties, have real legislative achievements, and don’t have to ask people to throw away their vote.

Yup, I’ve been voting Green the last 10+ years now. The ALP gets the preference in the end, and I’ve never actually had anything other than a coalition representative because my seat is more likely to go One Nation than ALP. But the principle is there, and at least I can help in the senate.

Well I just find it utterly unremarkable that a communist exists on Twitter. I wasn’t trying to be a thread cop, I should have worded my response better. Just so sick of seeing tweets posted on Qt3 from random tweeters that have no bearing or impact on the world. If I were to go read the facebook comments to Jacobin news articles thoroughly I could post here 50 times a day with stupid left-wing takes on things from random internet people.
My own personal view of this thread, and why I click on it, is to see things that are either particularly stupid/funny (including from randos) or dumb things from actual progressive politicians or public figures. What @Pyperkub posted above you, or @charmtrap just above it, are good examples.
You have a different view, so don’t mind me post whatever you like.
