Oh I don’t get mad, but my overwhelming reaction is ‘who the fuck is this, and why should I care’.

I mean base line it is possible to find an idiot espousing any stupid viewpoint. There are 7 billion people, a lot of them are dumb. But just because its possible to find any stupid opinion doesn’t mean its interesting.

And I get it. @ShivaX is perusing Twitter. and finds some dumb comment that annoys him. Hey he wants to post it because, well its dumb and annoyed him and now he wants to point and laugh. I get it.

I just don’t find it very interesting myself.

But I also never point it out or comment on it. I ignore it and move on. But I thought it worthwhile to explain why some people object to random twitiots being dropped in here, and how it has nothing to do with feeling it is an attack on them.

I don’t get mad, I get “meh”.

Twitiots. Heheheheheh. Ok. That’s awesome.

Apparently everyone is a Scotsman. Even Australian socialists are Scotsmen. Who knew?

Context matters. The context in which this thread was created was the first year of the Trump shitshow, as the board (and the country!) was just beginning to see how bad it was going to be.

So we had members of Congress and the fucking President of the United States saying and doing stupid shit. So “liberals also do that” seems like - in context - you know, people with actual power and influence. Also, P&R. I’d expect to see examples with political salience.

My reaction to quite a few examples in this thread has been consistently “why this person?” Random people of all stripes say and do stupid shit. Why does this person matter? Is it mockery for mockery’s sake?

It’s really kind of heartening, because the unintentional theme of the thread seems to be that by and large, liberals that actually matter and have some political power rarely say or do stupid shit. To keep this thing going, they have to scrape up Twitter randos. Consider for a moment how totally impossible it would be to keep up with the fire hose of right-wing stupidity spouted by random people on Twitter.

And that’s to say nothing, of course, of the ones that have a platform. Tucker Carlson says more stupid shit in an hour than liberals have said in this entire thread, even counting the random dipshit socialists.

Yes, this. Warms my cockles.

This is definitely the case. The GOP in America, and the activated right wing at large in the western world, appears to be much crazier.

Apparently they need more of this at the Olympics.

Speaking of liberal stupidities!

I think she counts as a Republican now.

Tulsi Gabbard really isn’t a republican, beyond the fact that she’s an obvious Russian asset, along with key elements of the GOP.

And to that end, the “anti-war at all costs” would have, until recently, been a left leaning viewpoint.

That all being said… maybe she IS a Republican now, in that the Republicans stand for absolutely nothing beyond “whatever Trump wants”.

Well she’s a grifting idiot with no home in the future of the Democratic party, so I would 100% not be shocked with her pulling a Lieberman here.

Even the small cadre of Bernie Bros (my definition of those folks is folks who only cared about the cult of Bernie, not any of the views beyond getting theirs) got tired of her pretty quickly.

As has been observed elsewhere, if they could get Greenwald to introduce her, that would be the ultimate chef’s kiss for the current times.

See? I post a liberal stupidity, and everyone is like she’s no true Scotsman!

I mean she is definitely stupid! How much she counts as a liberal these days is very much an open question, but as a former candidate for the dem presidential ticket, as fruitless and vanity project as that was, she fits.

But yeah she has no future with the dems

Why is there so much talk about Scotsmen in a thread about stupid liberals?

Seconded. Us Scottish are notoriously stingy.

Should I be posting SNP silliness here? :)
