Jeffrey Corbyn’s anti war group says that the UK needs to stop invading Ukraine.
That is a BRILLIANT response. Applause:

I do hope everyone got a sensible chuckle out of this. Well played.
I don’t know, but he ticks the ‘stupid’ box with that.

Its one of those things that is true, politically it would be better with multiple smaller parties that may cooperate on many thing but not be identical, while also politically impossible. Our electoral system guarantees two party reign, and therefore a smaller more progressive party is a recipe for GOP dominance.
In a perfect world there would be more parties and therefore @Timex and I would not be in the same party, even if many of our interests align in the ‘not the GOP’ manner. Hell our parties could form a coalition together. It would be healthier and have better representation of our true interests.
But that ain’t the political reality.

Yep. I see the two big parties as coalitions, the problem with the Dems is the coalition is super board and split up, the Republican coalition is a lot more united in hatred.
We’d probably do better in an America that was split up, as Southern, Northern, and Western Dem parties could appeal directly to their coalitions which are different in each area.
I probably fit in a lot better with Western Dems than Southern ones.

Regarding MauriceWFP, I had actually encountered that statement, but didn’t post it here because if you read the full article that statement was taken from, it’s not clear whether his statement is really as dumb as it first appears.
Within context, I don’t think he’s actually suggesting that it would be better to shrink the party, it at least it’s not certain that’s what he’s saying. I think he’s working with the assumption that the party is going to lose seats this election cycle, and he believes if you are going to lose seats anyway, you might as well establish some more progressive incumbents for future cycles.
Now, guys statement here, I think, is still somewhat native in that he doesn’t seem to be considering that by pushing more progressive candidates in summer cases may actually cause a reduction in overall electibilty, but I don’t think it’s quite as dumb a statement that the initial clickbait tweet suggests.

So the DA in Los Angeles is not doing well in engendering support amongst the prosecutors who ostensibly work for him.
The Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles, a union representing line prosecutors, said 97.9 percent of its members had voted to back a burgeoning effort to oust Gascón a little over a year after he took office.
Gascon has been attempting to implement what was pitched as a very progressive set of major criminal justice reforms, but in so doing his own line prosecutors are blocking him. I don’t know enough about the details to know if this is just knee cop/prosecutor anti-criminal-justice-reform d-baggery, or if there are legitimate beefs about interference with prosecutorial discretion and micro-managing experienced prosecuting attorneys.
I do have to say, that losing the confidence of 97.9% of your employees is not good. (Note: the article didn’t say if that particular union represents all of the LA prosecutors or just some of them, so that 97.9% figure might not be fully reflective of the entire list of prosecuting attorneys.)

I was going to make a joke about AP forgetting the “Former” in democratic candidate, but looks like there’s nobody else in her primary. Slim pickings for democrats in Oklahoma I guess.
But why was she at a sleepover with middle schoolers?
Is she a parent? I wouldn’t judge any mom dealing with a kid’s sleepover by drinking her way through it.
That’s a legitimately hilarious Scotsman right there.

Most progressives think the centrists reduce electability.
This is the cold, hard, unyielding truth right here.
I’ll judge (a little, cuz that’s kinda the theme of the thread) for getting caught, though.
That tweet from the AP leaves out the most damning parts of the story:
She allegedly called one girl an “acne fucker,” which prompted the girl to leave the room in tears. Broyles allegedly called another girl a “Hispanic fucker” and another a “judgy fucker.”
Oof. OK. I can’t even make a joke about that. That’s despicable.
