We use the term quite liberally.
This is doubly funny because private liberal arts colleges are notoriously elitist. Like Tucker Carlson went to one of these.
lol, I went to one of those and had never heard the term “little ivies”. In my experience we were pretty aware of our elitism bubble (being good liberals lefties and all), and I doubt they’re any more elitist than the actual Ivies, though just a lot smaller and quieter about it.
That’s what lambs eat, right?

Wow, my grandmother used to sing that song. :O
I was watching Twin Peaks recently, and there’s a scene where Ray Wise sings it over and over.
“little lambs eat ivy.”
not
“lambs eat little ivy.”
Nor do they eat Williams College.
Seems a little presumptuous, but I’m an accountant, not a sheepherder.
Wrong time to push Vote Harder
Framing it as “Vote Harder” is utter bullshit.
Its also the right time. And it’s also true.
How about “Vote and Volunteer” or “Vote and Donate” or “Vote and Organize” or “Vote and Protest”? Isn’t that the idea, that we should be doing more than just voting? Because, yeah, I agree. But ‘Vote Harder’ is cynical hopelessness and it needs to stop.
If we recognize that part of the right’s effective tactic is to create and encourage cynicism or disengagement, why contribute to that?
Telling a teen that just got shot that it’s up to her and her friends to fix gun violence by voting is bizarre
I really don’t get this. Everybody knows what it means, and everybody knows it is the only way to overcome the barriers to democracy the right is erecting.
You really do have to delete a lot of that text to arrive at this as the message.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding the sentiment behind “Vote Harder”? I thought it was an alternative way of saying “voting doesn’t work”. Is your read on it different than mine?
I guess it’s being used in both ways? Both to convey the message that turning out more votes is the only way forward, and as a way of disparaging that message.
There’s not a lot of words here, she’s ghoulishly telling a teen who just got shot in the face and said “nothing will change in america” that the victim should register to vote.
