I’m the weirdo, I literally consume no advertisements. I don’t watch television, I look at FB maybe once a week and those are all maker videos and whatnot, and I barely check CNN’s website because it seems mostly like a worldwide murder porn site, the actual news is really thin.
I wish people could make up their minds as to whether a senior member of government using private email to communicate about government business is a big deal or not.

Yeah, not super accurate. It’s not an administration appointed job role I believe, though I could be wrong. But it is still a fairly senior position in the federal government with a good salary and some important responsibilities.

I’m not sure if this article about the demise of the Howard Dean-founded DFA should be in here or in the WTF thread, but it sure seems like some liberals somewhere in this endeavor did some stupid stuff. How could an organization like this, during the current era, run itself aground so hard?
Weeks earlier Simpson had told two members of the development team that $320,000 needed to be raised for DFA to make it through the year, according to two former employees. But as the group’s dire financial state started to become clear to staff, she attended a leadership training paid for by the organization and a personal multi-day sommelier education course in Napa Valley, according to five former employees.
“Is this heaven? No, but it’s pretty close!” Simpson posted on Instagram while there. Eventually, she held an all-staff Zoom call while in Napa, in which she announced that DFA was running out of cash, according to an audio recording.

Though DFA was in deep trouble before Simpson left for California, her lack of substantial outreach to donors and her personal time away at that critical juncture was the culmination of the organization’s demise, according to the five former employees and a staffer’s contemporaneous notes and documents from inside DFA. She resigned on Dec. 7 as CEO and all non-leadership staffers were laid off the same day without any severance.
Perhaps the article is a hit piece or yet more “Dems in Disarray” reporting but that quoted part seems… non-optimal. My impression is this group was doing good work. Did it just get out-competed for donations by other liberal/left outfits? Bad management as the article implies? Failing to adjust to changing technology as is also implied.
In an age where right wing groups keep surging up, it’s sad to me to lose a liberal Dem group like this.

I was asking if you were OK because your post was inaccurate and uncharitable, to the point of being unhinged.
I’m not a close follower of British politics or the Daily Mail, but my understanding is that the axe you are grinding against Corbyn is that his political opponents funded a study that claimed that one of the millions of people in the Labor party did or said something that was racist. And from there you go to “Corbyn is a vile racist, basically equivalent to George Wallace”. You are taking multiple degrees of separation and uncertain probability and second hand accounts and coalescing them all into a judgement that “Corbyn directly and gleefully did this himself!” It’s doubly silly since the same center and right-wing parties funding these attacks on Corbyn are themselves way, way, way more into racism as a way of life, and don’t actually give a shit about it except as a rhetorical cudgel to use against someone who wants fairer taxes. It’s triply silly since normally you would be attacking Corbyn for being an anti-Semite, except that Corbyn’s cheery meeting with Sanders makes this line of attack even more farcical than usual, and so you’re putting it on the back burner for now.
Would it be accurate or fair or useful if other people used the same logic about you? Should people on Qt3 even be talking to a proud and extreme-right member of a blood-soaked and white-supremacist slave empire, which only recently withdrew from its most recent genocidal and colonialist occupation? Do you think that is a fair or useful description of you? I don’t think that it is, and I don’t think it is helpful to to view the world through such a warped and dark lens. Maybe instead we could follow the timeless advice of Marge Simpson:
Corbyn has been thoroughly discredited, and not by the Daily Mail. You can choose not to believe that and I’ve certainly got no interest in re-arguing that point here. I’m not saying Sanders is evil - his record on antisemitism and Russia is infinitely better - I’m saying he shouldn’t have publically celebrated meeting the guy, and that doing so constitutes “stupid shit”.
