Seriously though, cinema has nothing to do with it. Lionsgate is to animated drinking games what Fantasy Flight Games is to boardgames. If you don’t love all of their stuff, or worry about something other than how much beefcake & titty they can stuff it with, there’s something terribly wrong with you ;)

Are you people remembering a different Conan than I am? The books I read all featured a dude going around slaying, stealing and wenching. They weren’t exactly high art.
I don’t understand, that sounds like high art to me.

If that’s what Hollywood actually realized then I think Conan would be a successful franchise. The problem is what happened with the second Arnold film - they decided to make it PG friendly by toning down the violence and sex.
Is this version going to remedy that? I don’t know, but I don’t have high hopes. And there aren’t that many actors who can actually pull off the physical nature of the character, either. Arnold isn’t a great actor, but back then he was a clear physical presence on the screen.
Lionsgate may distribute a lot of crap, but they definitely don’t shy away from violent, R-rated films. I think of all the possible problems with this film the lack of violence won’t be one of them.
True, now we just need to hope they don’t turn conan in to some torture porn flick.
This looks to have potential. I am more optimistic post-Spartacus for projects like this.

This movie fails to answer the Riddle of Steel.
With each trailer, it becomes more and more evident that this plain bites.
A trailer that spends maybe 1/10th of its length showing you the titular character does not bode well for its film.
I counted 4 Wilhelm screams in that trailer. Wow.
I’m not getting the hate (then again, I’m much more of a gamer than a movie buff). I got no sense from the trailer as to whether the movie would be good, bad or indifferent. I’ll wait for word of mouth on the final product…
