Well, it was supposed to be Song of Styx, but Dennis DeYoung threatened to sue.

I agree the name doesn’t really convey much, I assume it was chosen as one of the only things left with decent SEO.

I highly recommend flicking through the screenshots on this one. "OK, it’s another mechanic sim, bit niche but potentially interesting premise. Whoa, nuclear waste? Satanic symbols? "

Umm… I may have broken my mouse hitting “Add to wishlist” so hard.

HOLY…! I WANT! A few weeks ago i was googling and searching steam or a car wars like game. Darkwind is ok, but i want a single player experience.

Shoot a Mazda, er, monkey! This does look fun.

I played Auto Fire via itch, even in it’s earliest stages it’s fun as hell.

Thanks! Looks like a blast.

Between this and Blood Rally, when are you rebranding yourself ‘games with vehicular combat’ junkie?

Yep and loving it. I am a Slay the Spire vet. Close to 20 Ascension with each character. I have tried a few similar games, Deck of Ashes, Blood Card, but none have come close to the magic formula Slay the Spire offers. Simple gameplay combined with huge depth and goldilocks ‘just right’ feeling of knife edge survival.

Pirates Outlaws might even be a Slay the Spire beater in some respects. It is similar enough to be fondly familiar but also has many more characters to play, quests to pursue, stuff to unlock.

My top delight surprise so far in 2020.

FYI, update Sentinels of Freedom comes out tomorrow! Great next week for tactical gamers!

Hahahhaah

Have you played Gordian Quest, yet? It’s a gem and, like StS at the time, doesn’t feel like your average EA game. The devs release an update every day (at least M-F), so they are actively working on it.

Not yet! It is on my wishlist for sure. I have carefully read some of the Steam reviews and forum discussions to gauge whether “now” is a good time to buy. The developer description mentioning how many more things there are to add was the main deterrent as it seemed like there would be much more game to enjoy later on in development. I am not motivated to provide design input within alpha or beta type stages.

Still, I know we enjoy the same and similar games. Give me the word and I will leap in!

Honestly, I don’t think you’ll regret it:

  1. Very polished
  2. Player manages a party of heroes (rather than a single hero, as in StS), each with its own deck and skill advancement
  3. Equipable loot (and consumables) that modify stats and/or have cards assigned to them that are added to the hero’s deck when equipped
  4. Offers more strategic options in battles than StS (can even view the decks used by enemies)
  5. Initiative track for combat
  6. Enemies will switch to a different card if your actions in the round render their currently selected card useless (for example, no valid targets for an Attack card)
  7. Town hub (reminds me of the Hamlet in Darkest Dungeon) to heal heroes, buy stuff, etc.

Hope that helps!

Alright, sale! $$$ Tell you what, make you a deal, you buy Pirates Outlaws, I buy Gordion Quest. Good deal?

Let’s Make a Deal! I was gonna wait until the 20th, when the discount expires, but I’ll toss it into my cart, which already contains Ancient Enemy, WARSAW, and Godking: Master of Rituals. Yeah, I have issues…

EDIT: Also, this drops today at 1 PM ET…

…and this exits EA today…

…this exits EA next Thursday!

Everything’s fine, folks!

I saw DasTactic (and some others) have put up Lets Plays for Fort Triumph. I’m interested, but unsure. It might scratch that early HoMM itch, but the balance of the game might be more detailed battles, and I am having trouble warming up to this emphasis on lining things up to kick around style of strategy. Maybe I’d like it if I tried it, but I find it offputting.
