Do I!

Didn’t see it mentioned in this thread yet, but this looks cute.

Not the first time I’ve seen that game mentioned, and every time I feel like it must be a visual novel dating sim for the mine-inclined.

Dream Daddy was already in the other bundle… ;)

Hey, I’ played an early version of that. Pretty sure if it was called Dorf Romantik at the time, I would remember… What is up with that?

Can’t recall if it was just a little free game on itch at the time, or maybe part of the IGF. But it has some cool systems, though like a lot of strategic placement games it can lead to a lot of frustration when you mess stuff up or miss a good play.

How is it Tim Conway isn’t involved (other than the whole being dead thing)?

ok, ok there’s no actual showering gameplay it’s just that as the GM of the Hockey team you have to run around the facility talking to the players/coaches about workout/practice plans, nutrition, etc. It’s not all menu’s you have to physically move your pixel GM around the facility and talk to everyone. One of the rooms is a shower because that is totally where you rest and heal between matches. At least I think showering heals you…it’s all a bit blurry but it’s definitely something. Just walk right in to discuss snacking habits or power lifting with your players in there because that’s how it works.?!?. shrug. I like the franchise mode for other reasons and became uncomfortably accepting of harassing my players in the shower. I suck at the frantic action and play rough, mostly trying to take out the other payers so my guys were showering a lot… ;) Anyhow, totally give it a try peeps. Hot 80’s hockey action; Showering is optional.

Gameplay-wise, even the two year old alpha was more exciting and involved than AC7. The campaign is excellent up through the halfway mark, and it has a roguelike “conquest” mode with an overworld map you fight over, planes to buy, and Halo skull-esque modifiers that you can layer on top for pretty much infinite replayability.

The plot isn’t told in as elaborate of a manner (no cutscenes, everything is done through briefings, in-game dialogue and dossiers available from the menu) but is perfectly serviceable and a bit willing to do things that Project Aces isn’t.

In terms of music, it’s damned near impossible to compete with Keiki Kobayashi, but Jose Pavli has done a pretty good job (with a few standout highlights that I won’t link because that would ruin some moments in the campaign). Other production values are a bit more limited but respectable given it’s basically a two man show. Fun little touches abound, such as having a WSO in the backseat of any two-seater plane changing up the dialogue.

It’s an Ace Combat passion project that was conceived before AC7 was a thing, and is easily worth the $25 asking price if you like Ace Combat in general, doubly so if you like the PS2-era games in the franchise, and the only techncial issue of note is that some people seem to be having issues with VR on launch.

Ah ok. Interesting. Thanks!

Third person action + wacky crafting. This is having a 4-day free launch trial, normally $5.

This is a port of Shiren 5, probably from the PS Vita version. I love the classic DS Shiren but was lukewarm on the Wii game. This one looks pretty good.

2D real-time platform shooter battle royale spinoff.

Here’s a couple releasing today and tomorrow that look interesting:

Silmaris is now out on steam. It makes a good first impression, but I did not get very far oday.

Agreed, although i can see already that the game would greatly benefit from random maps, or if not that, sliders to set map size & # of cities.

They also need to make the text in the story beats darker for us old farts with poor eyesight, It can be pretty tough to read.

Quick question, how long on average does it take to finish a game in Silmaris?

Can’t say for sure because I only played a few turns, enough to get a feel for the game, but I think I read about an hour and a half.

Tallowmere 2 is in early access. The original is a weird little gem. This one has online co-op.

Curious Sci-Fi adventure game with shades of Pathologic.

Another Billion Road / Fortune Street -like.

Now on Steam, from the developers of Volume.

Skateboarding arcade racer.

John Wick Hex is probably my most disappointing game of the year. If you’re interested in it, I’d temper your expectations, or better yet, check out the much tighter Fights in Tight Spaces:

I really enjoyed my time with the demo:

Twilight Struggle + Balance of Power / WarGames =

From what I understand the learning curve is very steep, but some of the streamers of historical strategy like Agrippa Maentius seem to like it, so it might be worth checking out.

Agreed, although it does not appear that it is the maps that determine gameplay as much as the events. But still, yeah.
