The brave princess slips inside, but soon runs into a strange situation: there is a thick wooden staff wedged into a wooden frame. When the princess slips an arm past the staff, intending to crawl forward, the staff glows brightly. It is clearly a powerful item. But the way it is wedged into the frame makes the princess think that the passage will close if she removes the staff.

What does she do?

Remove the staff and risk the way forward being blocked?
Or slip past the staff and see where the tunnel leads?
Or…?

Holy smokes! Epic battle with Annie! I even had to use maths! Not the prettiest chart in the world, but it ends up in the right place…

Dave Perkins:

Prolix dives into the crack, in search of his own doom. The crack angles downward into the floor and becomes so narrow that he is forced to lie on his face and wriggle forward. He persists, because ahead there is a dim light!

But suddenly the floor heaves again, a blast of heat hits him from below, and the crack narrows, squeeeeeezing prolix to the point where he wonders if he will survive. His ribs, he can almost hear them crack! And the heat from below is rising.

prolix vs ankamela - adventurer vs the danger!

The rock squeeeeeezes prolix and he feels like his chest will burst! But with a sudden crash, the rock faces part for a moment and give him room to wiggle. The heat blows past him, refuse and debris splattering against his face. A paper flattens itself against his neck and he snatches it and retreats.

Out in the open, he breathes in the cooler air and wipes his forehead with the paper. Some markings on it catch his eye. He’s found…

An ambiguous spell (Arcane) - A one time use item that either heals another adventurer 3 hp (even if they have none) or else reveals a crucial secret about the tombs.

The princess can’t pass up treasure, so she drags the rogue’s body, now made stiff by rigor mortis, over to her. She attempts to pry out the staff while dragging the dead rogue after her to hold the passage open…
