Yup - what are the odds of a Lost season once again ending with some form of explosion? ;)

I’m sure John didn’t kill his father because he wasn’t psychologically able to do it due to their history and Cooper or whatever his real name is being his father.

After all, he had no real trouble killing Mikhail, and I’m sure he didn’t do that with “eh, he’ll be ressurrected anyway!” in mind. He couldn’t have known that. The island may heal faster and cure some things, but none of the people who had died before had returned so far. (Unless, of course, the writers come up with some plot piece about Mikhail and John secretly cooperating.)

Yah, I know. They have also obviously been making stuff up as they go along, have intentionally been building various “misleading” lines (including the supernatural/purgatory one), and there is no way the final story is going to actual make sense with all the threads they’ve developed.

It seems pretty apparent at this point that the people on Flight 815 were at least partially hand picked to be there. Someone has gone to an awful lot of trouble to fake their deaths to the rest of the world, and the files the Others have on each LOSTie are too complete to have been assembled after the fact. We’ve already seen that the Others have seemingly unlimited resources in the “real world” that they’ve used to bring people like Juliet to the island, so it’s not hard to imagine them spending years collecting information on a group of people, then manipulating circumstances to bring those people together so that they could “crash” them on the island.

The real question is WHY? What’s so special about the LOSTies? We’ve seen pretty extensive background for most of them, so what is so special about them all? It’s not just about experimentation and fertility and whatnot, because the lawyer guy told Locke that Ben has been “distracted” from their real purpose by all that stuff. So what is the REAL purpose of the Others, what is on this island that they want to control so desperately, and that someone would spend all this time, money and effort to obtain? Why do they need the LOSTies to do it?

That scene was great, especially with the screams coming from the brig. I’m betting that we’ll see some sort of “rescue” attempt by Rouseau, with some sad results.

Who (or what) would Rousseau want to blow up? Hmm, I wonder. Has anyone done her wrong?

I assume she wants her daughter. Dynamite = distraction?

I took it as: dynamite = revenge. But, come to think of it, no reason it can’t be both. Guess we’ll see.

Lost to end in 2 more seasons:

cough bullshit cough they’ll milk it for a few “encore” episode ad revenue generating opportunities.

and then the movies will start rolling out for more cash - a la X-Files.

By the way, have you heard the 2nd X-Files movie is in the works?

I call bullshit on your bullshit. Two more seasons is already milking it, with the way the ratings have fallen off from season 1, they’re lucky to get that much. And no chance in hell there’s enough interest in this for a movie when all’s said and done.

Just saw the episode. It was awesome. Obviously the fact that Locke’s dad said it was hell means that it’s not. I hate how the Others are so damn good at manipulating others. Jack and Juliet were so fucking annoying I love it. The way her face just expressed boredom when Kate talked about the pilot and radio was great.

Yeah, I enjoyed this episode far more than most this season. It felt more in line with season 1 than the soap opera fluff schlock they’ve been pumping out recently. And damn if I wasn’t rooting for Sawyer to kill that son of a bitch. Glad they delivered the payoff.

So, what’s the best guesses on what “should we tell her?” was all about re: Jack and Juliet to Kate?

That was my thought… it allows them to dismiss it. Its also a tolerable joke… they are in a sort of hell albiet man made.

I’m going with she’s pregnant.

That doesn’t make any sense in context, though.

Kate: “Hey, Jack and blond chick I dislocated the shoulder of, there may be a way off this island!”

Jack: “You’re pregnant.”

No, but it’s Lost, and things don’t make sense a lot of the time.

The way they kept harping on how they (The Others) were going to raid the camp to get any pregnant women, instead of just saying “to get Sun”, makes me think that’s what it is.

Anyway, that the camp is going to be raided in the near future and Kate, if she is pregnant, is going to be taken, makes it something that would be relevant to her at any time.

Touche! Well said.

I interpreted that scene to mean that Jack learned something during his captivity that leads him to believe that there’s no way to get off the island - or, at least, they can’t get off the island in any sort of normal way. (Now, if that’s true, that poses the question of how Michael and Walt got off with the boat, assuming they did.)

Thus, when Kate says they have a way off, he looks at Juilet and says “Should we tell her?”, which means “Should we tell her not to get so excited about a potential rescue?” That makes a lot more sense than “Should we tell her she’s pregnant?”

Also, there’s been nothing to suggest Jack actually knows Kate is pregnant, unless you’re just assuming Juilet told him.

Of course, the whole “We should tell her.” “Not yet.” piece once again violently points out how characters on this show rarely ask any questions when they should. Every normal human being would have confronted Jack now and demanded an explanation for what the hell Juliette was referring to. But hey, it’s Kate, why not just let her look puzzled.

I’m going to say it’s the electro-magnetic field that surrounds the island which prevents normal communication to the outside world. That’s what they were talking about.
