Yeah, especially considering he used that lie to explain to Locke why Jacob only speaks to him.

Speaking of Jacob, the fact he’s “invisible” goes a long way in explaining the voices people hear in the jungle. Clearly Jacob isn’t the only “invisible” being on the island.

I wasn’t entirely sure whether or not I actually saw a figure in the chair the first time through. Thanks lostpedia!

And Locke is so gonna come back to bitchsmack Ben. Anyone who thinks Locke isn’t going to pull the bullet out with his own fingers and heal really fast obviously hasn’t been paying attention.

Ear? What ear?

Life extension project… Eugene Tooms… hmmm.

Well, in a way, Ben was born on the island… born again, that is, or re-born… whatever you want to call it.

Apparently eating five human livers every 30 years doesn’t protect against nerve gas.

Not literally, the expresion. “Has the attention of.”

Also, I can’t stop saying “Bat Manuel” when that guy’s on screen.

“So Ben ages about 35 years, but the other guy not at all?? Or are we supposed to equate a haircut with getting much older?”

They were able to age “Uncle Rico”.

I think it’s pretty obvious. The Dharma folks were regular humans, who found the special island. Also on the island from somewhere were “natives” that had synced up with the healing/magic juju, and didn’t age. Thus Ben is the only person left on the island that is aging, while Bat Manuel has stayed the same age.

Now, here’s my $1,000,000 question: How many toes does Bat Manuel have?

H.

How is this for a Lost theory:

Richard is one of the Natives. All of the Natives, who are descendants of the 4-toed aboriginals, are accepted by the Island and are given the powers of immortality. Why? Because the Island exists in a special space/time continuum.

The Dharma Project was created to study the island and its effects. Hence the distortion of space and time explains why the Natives don’t age, including Richard. This could also explain why the Natives steal kids – because they are immortal and cannot reproduce and don’t have kids.

Keeping in mind that the Island exists in its own space/time continuum when the plane flew by it this led to the creation of 2 flight 815’s. The first one crashed killing everyone on board. And the second one exists in an alternate universe which was created when the original 815 intermingled with the Island’s atmosphere just before it crashed (this explains the dead bodies found by the outside world).

Due to Penelope’s history with the Island via her father, Penelope is aware of the Island’s special space/time powers. She does not know the location of the Island but she is trying to find the island in order to find Desmond. Even though the first flight 815 crashed killing everyone on board she knows that the second one still exists because it interfaced with the Island. When she finds the second flight 815 she would have found the Island along with Desmond her true love.

The Island accepts “chosen” individuals and heals them/makes them immortal (like Locke and the Natives). “Unchosen” ones – like the black dude priest (forget his name) get killed by the Island Guardian (the smoke monster). I haven’t quite figured out why it accepts certain people and not others but it surely has to do with the person’s character, including his or her faith.

Therefore, there are no clones per se. And the Losties aren’t dead. People, like the Natives (including Jacob) can be invisible due to the alterations in the space/time continuum (which explains the Voices and the “Ghosts” we keep seeing).

Jack is an “Unchosen”. Locke is a “Chosen”. Because Locke is a Chosen the Others know this and respect him for this. Ben Linus’ authority over the Others is crumbling, everyone including Ben knows this. Locke will lead the Others into battle against Jack and the “Unchosens” on the beach head during the season finale. This will be the confrontation between Jack and Locke (bringing back the Man of Science versus Man of Faith theme).

Anyone care to expand or refute this theory? (sorry for the poor grammar… typing this in broken chunks of time while at work)

It was a hell of an episode. The scene in Jacob’s house was deliciously creepy.

That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking. Most of the Others seem to be normal folks Ben has brought on board from the outside world. Richard is so far the only “pre-existing” native/hostile/Other we know about, and it’s pretty damn obvious he hasn’t aged much at all in the 20+ years since meeting Ben in the jungle that first time. So is Richard a decendant of the statue people?

The big question I have is : How did Dharma get on the island? Obviously they were ferrying loads of people, equipment, supplies, etc. back and forth to construct all these bunkers and the villiage, after which they still seemed to maintain pretty constant contact with the outside world. So how did they get all this stuff to the island? The homing beacon mentioned by Ben when talking about the sub would help, but someone still had to find the island, get OFF the island, then relocate the island while bringing back said homing beacon to install. Hope they eventually explain that along with Dharma’s original intent on the island.

The ring of ash around Jacob’s house has a perfectly good explaination. Jacob is invisible and moves very quickly. If he passes through the ring of ash he’d stir up lots of tiny black dust particles. What else on the island moves very fast and is mostly invisible except for tiny black particles? Jacob, or someone like Jacob, is the smoke monster. I assume there will be more than one person in his condition to explain the voices in the jungle. I’m curious what the relationship between Jacob and Richard’s people is. Richard seemed to not know much about Jacob last night, despite having been on the island a lot longer than Ben. What makes Ben so special?

DrDel,

That’s pretty much my take, except I hope it’s something better than “time/space continuum” which is a pretty moldy device to bring out. I would be happier with some genetic thingy that syncs with something on the island, and Locke is a descendent.

H.

Huh??

Nice theory on the ash and smoke monster. Could be.

H.

You actually may be on to something.

How can the Island create a duplicate plane for Flight 815 when there were many other instances of craft entering the Island’s vicinity and docking and none of those were duped? It doesn’t make any sense that 815 was duped but every time that submarine came around it wasn’t duped.

I think he means, how many toes does Richard have. Is he truly a descendant of the four-toed natives.

Jacob is a Native.

Going out on a limb here, Richard may even be Jacob.

Ben isn’t special. He is an opportunist who managed to fuck his own people over to save his own ass. He is also manipulative and has managed to brainwash the Others into following him because only he can “talk” to Jacob. That is all.
