I assumed when Kate was saying she had to get back to HIM also with inflection, she meant Sawyer…
Well, maybe I’m wrong. Why would Kate not go then? Why also have a clue which people can’t see??
The sad thing is, I knew it wasn’t a flashback the moment I saw Jack calling someone on his KRZR, which only came out last year, a couple years past the “Lost” timeline… sigh
Ah, I thought he said, “either.”
It’s the cell phone Jack was using, came out last October-November… I wonder if that storyline is set in stone now? Seems Jack is pretty pathetic ever since he got off.

I thought the casket didn’t look full length. Something sized to fit a teen - Walt maybe, based on his height in this episode. No clue how that would fit in with anything, of course.
I for one hope the whole frontstory is just another one of Desmond’s visions.
Questions/speculations:
- Who was in the casket? It was probably an Other, since Jack said it was neither friend nor family and I’d imagine anyone from the crash of 815 is a friend.
- What happened to Juliet? Jack seemed to kiss her and now he’s not with her at all.
- What’s up with Locke? Why didn’t he just shoot the phone if it was so important to him the call didn’t go through?
OK,Thanks.
That’s a clue I would never get, don’t own one!:)
I was ready to shout “ANACHRONISM!” until they revealed that twist.
Just brilliant.
I thought the show was pretty awesome, but I agree. Mostly because for some reason I found the ‘frontstory’ incredibly depressing.
I had the impression that it was Sawyer’s funeral, since pretty much everyone else probably has some family to show up, and that maybe Kate was going back home to Captain Mal.
So, is Patchy dead? Cuz parachute girl sure seems like she’s dead… and no one even gave a damn. Depressing.
Guess that solves the free-will vs. determinism debate.
And to answer a previous poster’s question as to why Jack would ask the Chief of Medicine to call for his Dad, I think he was either really drunk, or just being sarcastic or sarcastically implying his father’s corpse would have a higher blood alcohol content even after however much time has passed.
Or Fantasy Island brought back Christian Shepherd. Er, probably not this last one.
There were a lot of moments I enjoyed in this season finale. Walt’s Cameo & Hurley’s Heroism being the two I was thrilled about.

Overall, I agree that it was great. I loved that things went “well” for the Losties for a change, instead of everything going wrong.
I’m confused as to why Charlie had to die, though. Since the explosion only ripped open the window, they would have had plenty of time to escape the Looking Glass before it flooded. Or was he that determined to actually die?
The flash forward was great, I thought. It would be an interesting twist if the show started taking place in the present now, with flashbacks to the island. Sadly, we all noticed Jack’s phone as well, and it was a little too predictable.
Regarding the funeral, I assumed that Jack was no longer friends with anyone from 815, given his sorry state. Kate certainly seemed like she didn’t want to deal with him.
The question is, then, why would Naomi’s boat want to kill all of them? I wondered if it was a Dharma revenge vessel or something crazy, but then, why would they continue the food drops. Since Naomi knew about Desmond, is it possible her father is after Desmond again?
There isn’t really any evidence that Naomi’s boat’s crew wants to kill anyone, is there? Just Ben saying it, which doesn’t really mean anything. All we know is that it’s not Penny’s boat… Unless I’m forgetting something. I can’t remember what Naomi said when they found her… whether it was “Penny sent me” (ie, a lie) or a more generic “Oh I was looking for you Desmond.”

OK how many lives does Mikhail have? He gets pushed through that fence, nope not dead. He gets shot center mass point blank with a harpoon, nope still alive (and seemed to be in pretty good health I might add).
Oh yeah, and what is up with Eyepatch? Can he now officially not be killed? First he got the sonic fence treatment, although who knows if that is lethal. But then he gets shot in the chest with a spear… and I’m guessing that was him who blew a grenade up right in front of his own face at Charlie’s window. And he either did that because he is just REALLY devoted to Ben, or he knows he can walk it off.
Also, hopefully they will cut down on the scenes where he isn’t wearing his eyepatch.
edit: yeah, what that guy said ^

I’m thinking that Loche could kill the girl but not Jack because she is not connected to the island like the passengers of 815 are. Great finale.
I’ve been waiting for Charlie to die since the pilot episode. Now it’s time for that pesky Claire to throw herself off a cliff or something.
I thought it was Juliet myself that was dead (it’s gotta be either her or Sawyer I figure) cause of the weirdo love quadrangle they got going on. No one would care if it was one of “the others.” I really don’t think Jack would cry over Sawyer, unless it reminded him that he screwed up with Kate.
I thought something was odd when the black doctor said “a hero twice” and it really hit me when he was in the apartment with all the stuff laid out, then when he flipped open the phone it finally struck me that it’s a very modern Motorola and everything was messed up. Still, I was thinking somehow Jack was having his own visions of the future as the helos were coming in or something.
It definitely ends odd and asks a lot of questions about, well, everything, and no answers till next year.
