The question that came to mind, whoever it was, is who schedules a viewing, and then does not show up??

The island does some amazing things, ages Walt about four years in the 90 days they are there(damn child actors).

Well the one little thing might be that Charlie had to die not to disable the jamming so Jack could call for Naomi’s boat, but to talk to Penny, which I think will be very significant somehow.

It’s also possible a lot of people stayed, but aside from Ben, Danielle (and Alex), and Locke (and maybe the Others), I don’t see why.

Yea, he could have saved himself but I think he truly believed no one would be rescued if he didn’t die.

It would really be messed up (which was said earlier) if the rest of the show was just flash-forwarded 815ers living out their new lives and flashing back to the island. Yikes.

Oh yeah, the funeral home’s name is an anagram for “flash forward”.

Takes all suspense away.

It was good as a twist, but would kill the show every week.

Great season finale. Only a couple of things could have made it better though …

  1. Kill Ben. I’m sick of the monologuing. There is no reason for them to keep him alive.

  2. I’m with Jason here, please kill off Ms. “I can’t make up my mind and will never stick with a guy” Kate. I’m sick of her sad puppy faces at whoever the interest of the moment is.

On the other hand, if they went this route… Charlie would take a deep breath, jump in the water, start swimming up, and then die from lung overexpansion.

More physics fun: The room he sealed off wouldn’t fill up with water. The air would get pressurized into a small area at the ceiling and water would stop coming in. Of course, he would then be breathing pressurized air and get the bends when he escaped.

The whole station was pressurized to the ambient pressure at whatever depth it was at, otherwise the opening in the bottom would be letting in water.

Just doing my part to get this thread to page 100.

After selling out his wife (and the rest of the group) to the Others, Bernard deserved to die.

He’s a fucking dentist. You can’t blame the guy for cracking. If he hadn’t spilled the beans, they actually would’ve shot Jin.

He’s a dentist, not Rambo.

I like Bernard, and though it bothers me he sold them out, it was understandable.

How far til 100?

This isn’t it.

I was thinking if Charlie hadn’t managed to close and seal that hatch in time, wouldn’t the change in pressure from the blown porthole basically have made the dive pool water start flooding into the big chamber as well? Once all that water starts pouring in, it’s going to be nearly impossible to close the hatch or swim out through the dive pool. I’m not sure that’s the way pressurization works though.

If so, maybe that’s why he didn’t want to risk trying to jump out and close the hatch from the outside. Although I do like the idea that he felt he needed to sacrifice himself for Desmond’s vision to come true and his friends to be rescued.

Yeah, as soon as the pressure shifted, all hell would have broken loose. That’s why Charlie closed it. I kind of wish that he hadn’t died, but there’s some romance to the idea of dying to save everyone else.

100 pages! WOOOOOOOT!

Actually,he played it right. If dead Jin has no chance to escape…

What a great episode. Took them three years but Lost finally figured out how to do a good season finale.

So the obvious questions (and yeah other people have brought them up; I’m just consolidating here)

  1. Did everyone get off the island? If not, then there’s an obvious reason for Jack to want to go back (he feels he abandoned his friends). If so, then wtf?
  2. Is Christian Shephard alive? Jack makes a comment to the doctor about being more sober than his father; and when he’s trying to get pills he gives the pharmacist a prescription from his father as well.
  3. Who was in the coffin? I don’t think it’s Sawyer; I think the folks guessing Juliette or Locke are right. Though why would Locke leave the island?
  4. Who’s the “him” that Kate has to go back to? My guess is Sawyer.

I think the reason Locke killed Naomi but not Jack is pretty clear - Locke knows Jack. They’re not friends, but he’s got enough of a bond with him to not want to just shoot him.
