So even though the uninterrupted format is better in every way, you hate it because it messes with your routine.
The problem with last year’s format was the first 6 episodes. They tried to make a mini-season with a mini-conclusion and it fell flat. The second “half” was much better.
While I’d be thrilled if it started in September, I can handle a shorter, better season.
We disagree that it is better in every way if you have to wait until New Year’s to actually start it. I suppose you also think 16 episodes over 4 months is better than 22 over a longer period???
I think of it less like a TV show season and more like a motion picture sequel. I’m very supportive of keeping the quality as high as possible over traditional TV season deadlines.
How about this as a shocker: maybe, perhaps, it’s Mikhail in the coffin at the end… seeing how nothing can kill him, that would register as a surprise.
Well, yes - I, for one, do believe that 16 uninterrupted is better than 22 with repeats. Mind you, I’m operating under the assumption that with only 48 episodes left, they’ll be able to tightly script the seasons to cut away a lot of the annoying filler chaff that Lost has had so far. TV, like all art, should be about quality, not quantity.

Have you seen the hi-res mags of the newspaper? the second letter of the first name is an “o” not an “e” (Jeremy)

Check out the new, “enhanced” version of the hi-res image here:

The last name seems like “Bentham”, but the second letter of the first name isn’t totally visible - it could be an ‘o’ or an ‘e’, due to the way the paper is wrinkled.

yeah that was the pic I was referring to – and that picture confirms it is an “o”.

For those who think Charlie could have escaped death the producers have released this tidbit in an
interview.
"Can we continue prophesying Charlie’s death but not actually have him die, just have him willing to die? "
Not only did Charlie know that his time had come but he was willing to die.

You weren’t paying attention!!! That’s a very important part. Oceanic gave him a “golden ticket” offering him a free flight anywhere. He uses it every week to fly around the world in hopes that another crash occurs and he goes back to the island. He’s gone plum loco.
It also makes you think back to the poor flight attendant that has to deal with his drunk ass every week.
I’m glad to see everyone enjoying LOST again instead of having to come here and read endless bitching. It’s like the Six Feet Under thread where it was non-stop complaining… and then the series finale hit.
Speaking of SFU, whoever was asking about who would pay for a viewing and not show up, it’s not unusual for the decedent to pre-pay for his/her own funeral. Soo… he did show up.

Interesting interview - there also seems to be a severe disconnect with reality.
I know some people who like Charlie, but overall I’m under the impression that the majority of the viewers doesn’t. Because he also had that annoying prick quality. And this would be the first time I’ve ever seen someone call that particular deed heroic. Shooting a person unarmed and defeated. Not to mention the fact that he could have given them some answers.

Yeah. I only saw the first hour, and I never heard anything about the golden ticket until I read it here.
My thoughts on Jack referring to his father twice are that maybe when they leave the island, they get returned back to their lives before the crash, but with their memories of what happened on the island intact.
Jack seems to think his dad is alive, and I can’t imagine any amount of painkillers making him think that if Daddy is truly dead.

For some reason I thought that the bearded Jack was another ‘version’ of Jack living in the real world, which would have supported the alternate reality theory. Would have been interesting to see the losties encounter their other selves…or something.
I figured that Charlie had to die sometime during the show. Didn’t the psychic tell Claire that no man could ever raise her baby or it would turn into a demon child (her first flashback)? Claire is going to have to be a single mom forever.
Though I liked the ‘flash forward’ this episode, I hope it isn’t used all the time. I don’t really want to know who survives getting off the island until the show is over. Like someone said before, it destroys the suspense of who might get killed. Unexpected deaths are the most fun.
As for Mikhail, god damn I love Russians.
Aaargh, don’t say that! Claire is one fine specimen of womanhood: it would be such a waste.
Does it bother anyone else that the walkie-talkie from the Pearl never got used? It just kind of disappeared.
The finale almost made the Hurley’s Bus episode worthwhile. Almost.
Maybe the dead person changed their name? It would also account for why no one came.

But then how would Jack have seen the headline and immediately reacted? Don’t think so - it’s either a name we know, or someone who will be introduced later.
Jack and Kate may be the only ones who know.
Or it’s the person they talked to on the Sat phone.

If the name was already used in the series the Lost junkies would have already indentified the person. They haven’t. So I would agree that the name is of a character who hasn’t appeared yet.
