I’m going to go with “strongly disagree.” Having Jin die in the next episode (especially since ABC’s been running SOMEONE WILL DIE!!! promos) would just be bad writing. Promising a bad end for them, and then just delivering on that, would just be tedious. (And they’ve been promising a bad end for Sun & Jin, to one degree or another, for the past 3 seasons). The only reason it worked at all for Charlie is that they had Desmond predict his death so early, you spent the rest of the season wondering when the other shoe was going to drop.
The cool thing about the flash-forwards, at least to me, is that they can play with the idea of working backwards from “known” information – you have to guess how the characters end up in that situation. But there’s also potential to do a Scrooge-style “this is what could happen, but not necessarily will.” I’d be fine with their changing the future; there’s nothing wrong with the concept, and it’s only “bad writing” if they do it badly.
Still, I think the prevalent theory that the non-Oceanic 6 people survived, but not all the survivors are aware of it, is the more likely scenario.

Jin is truly dead simply by virtue of the actor getting a DUI. See Anna Marie, Hurley’s GF, Ecko, etc. You’d think they’d get the hint at some point.
I thought Ecko had a family issue?
Yup. Not every character who died had a DUI, but every character that had a DUI died.
In “The Other Woman,” the therapist told Juliet that she could understand Ben’s crush, because “you look so much like her.” As far as I can tell, we never found out exactly who “her” was; I was assuming it was Ben’s mom.
I’m all choked up.
Sayid asked… flat out… what was going on.
Okay, so it promptly cut away, but still (sniff) It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen…
As far as I can tell, we never found out exactly who “her” was; I was assuming it was Ben’s mom.
I assumed it was his girlfriend from before the Dharma purge.

We never did see a grown up version of her did we? You would think that if she was important, and died in the gassing, that they would have lingered on her corpse or something.
I’d like it to be Locke. But then, was it one of the Oceanic 6 playing the corpse at the funeral Jack went to in the original flash forward (OFF).? Perhaps Locke? In some of the flash forwards Jack seems fairly well-adjusted - far from the mess he was in the OFF. Could Locke or Ben dying initiate some ramifications that throw Jack into a tailspin?

I read it as Hurley disagrees with their reasoning to leave the island, and he’s trying to avoid a confrontation with Jack at all costs. Either the flash-forward scene with Hurley in the nut house hasn’t happened yet, and Hurley’s starting to fall apart here, or it has already happened, and he’s just trying to avoid the same argument he already had.
Either way, he’s convinced that they did the wrong thing. At the opener of the season, we see that Jack has come around to this point of view as well, and it’s likewise destroying him from inside.
With all of the attention the Oceanic Six get from the public is it really possible nobody would show up to the funeral if one of them died maybe a year or two after the rescue? You’d think there would be a media circus.
I think the one in the coffin is Hurley. Somehow, don’t know how, but there it is.
If it were Hurley, you’d think more than Jack would have showed up since Hurley was well-liked.
Plus it wasn’t a piano box.

Yeah, Hurley the famous nice guy billionaire dies and is burried in a pine box in the ghetto with no attendees to the funeral. Plus Jack calls him neither a friend nor a relative.
Also, piano box.

Her name is Annie, and I think the writers said they would come back to her.
Ben claimed she was in the Looking Glass, although neither of the women there identified themselves as her when Charlie and Desmond went there.

I know there was originally some theorizing that it was Michael in the coffin. If he really went all out in assuming his new Kevin the janitor identity, it could be him.

The funeral is in the future, long enough after the Oceanic 6 are back for Jack to grow a beard.
And I still think it’s Michael in the box.

As far as I can tell, the funeral series of flash-forwards are the most recent flashbacks we’ve been shown. All of the flash-forwards we’ve seen this season happen before that funeral.
jeffd’s post just broke my brain, but I believe you are correct: the latest thing that we’ve seen on the Lost timeline (i.e. the thing that has happened last chronologically) is Jack meeting Kate outside the airport and telling her they have to go back to the island. Every other flash-forward has happened before that.
Yes, it’s pretty clear that the “flash forwards” are happening in reverse order. In other words, the one we saw first, Jack and Kate at the end of last season, is actually the furthest one out in the future, and the other flash forwards have been getting progressively closer to the “present” as they are revealed. It’s the only thing that makes sense given the state of both Jack and Hurley in each of the forwards we’ve seen so far. (i.e. they would not go from totally messed up to clean, but from clean to totally messed up makes a lot more sense.)
Also, the Ocenaic Six are done. They’ve been revealed. Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Aaron and Sayid.
