Has this been posted before? I’m really liking the theory here.

OK, see I wasn’t paying attention–Thanks. All good now.
I kind of wish Evangeline Lilly would fall off a building and into a jet engine and get all the time-wasting horseshit out of the way for the show.
I mean, we’re talking about Lost, putting in stupid, and might I add questionable, cheesecake shots doesn’t help us out any. If a picture of Kate with a shirt strap down really does it for so many people, I’m horrified to think of what would happen when the Lost fans discover playboy.
Kate makes good cheesecake, and that’s about it. Her character is boring as hell, and here’s her only function on the show:
Jack: “I’m going ________. You stay here.”
Kate: “No - I’m coming with you!”
Jack: “Kate, PLEASE.”
Kate: “Okay.”
Kate: (to herself) “I’m totally going anyway to get kidnapped by The Others/steal a radio/otherwise fuck Jack over and make life harder for my fellow castaways.”
I absolutely LOATHE her character on the show. I mean, I don’t know what they were shooting for, but making a whore who sells everyone out or leaves everyone to deal with her messes isn’t that great.
If I wanted to see a stupid woman ruin peoples lives I could just remember my ex-girlfriends
BAH! I know someone who isn’t going to win a prized Pulitzer on my talent!
lol. :)
Honestly, I’m with you all in terms of her character. Just terrible. And she’s IMHO the worst actor/actress on the show.
But, yeah. I’m halfway towards death, if I’m lucky. My magazine is dead. Allow me the 1 minute of cheesecake a week.
High five!
Yeah, she’s hot. Whatever. But she’s a terrible actress, and the writers aren’t helping trying to make her tough, a fugitive, conflicted, etc., etc., etc.
Okay, since we have a few days until Thursday, who’s the best actor on the show? Not your favorite character, so spare us the stuff about how badass Sayid is, but the best actor.
I’ll nominate Michael Emerson, just because he gets saddled with so much silly exposition, and his character’s place in the overall scheme of things seems to be to jerk around the audience. Plus, the poor guy is constantly working under “I’ve just been beaten within inches of my life” make-up. Heck, I lose track of who last beat up Ben. His character arcs have had him ping-poinging between victim and mastermind, and he manages to pull it off.

Either Michael Emerson or Terry O’Quinn, both are great and have done GREAT work on this show. I’ve loved Ben for a long time, just because of how much resolve he has. Same for Locke.
Emerson and O’Quinn are the front runners.
But I’ll put in a plug for Naveen Andrews as a guy who has to be sympathetic but can also be a convincing torturer at the drop of a plot point. When Sawyer or Jack swing from softie to hardass, no one buys it because the actors are really weak links in the cast. But Sayid is persuasive as not an emotionally tortured torturer, but someone who will do the rough stuff because no one else on the island can make themselves could enough to do it.
Henry Ian Cusick is always fun to watch, but Desmond’s main character trait seems to be confused bonhomie.

I’ll put in a vote for Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim, who often have to act in English AND Korean. Yunjin Kim is a native Korean speaker, but Daniel Dae Kim is not.
And OT from the topic at hand: How cute is it that Sawyer got all protective of Hurley in the last ep? “If you hurt one hair on his curly head…” He’s gone from being Hurley’s chief tormenter to being his bestest buddy and bodyguard.
Josh Holloway is not the strongest actor in the cast, but Sawyer has sort of become (maybe he always was) a proxy for the audience. He’s the one most likely to ask questions like, “And where the hell are YOU going?” and “Where did THAT come from?” and “You want me to do WHAT?” He seems the most grounded of the survivors, which makes him a good foil for Locke, aka “Col. Kurtz,” and Ben.
Sawyer is definitely one of my favorite characters. He’s the male equivilant of the hooker with a heart of gold.
I don’t have a problem with his acting, he’s no Emerson, but he does the character justice.
O’Quinn and Emerson, with Emerson the front-runner. He’s had such insanely random and crazy character writing but still manages to pull it all off convincingly. Andrews would be my 3rd choice.
Emerson and the guy that plays Desmond are my favorite actors. However, Emerson is the best of the two.
Another vote for Emerson. It’s amazing to me that he’s managed to continue to straddle the line, this entire time, of being completely ambiguous in terms of his ultimate nature. That’s not just the writing. He has a way of looking and emoting that is just utterly baffling in terms of being able to read him–is he evil? Is he fucking with us? Is he sincere? That little smirk he gave right after Sayid agreed to team up with him…another example of him being an evil mastermind? Who the heck knows?
And Holloway has grown on me over the years. I thought he was too over-the-top and one-dimensional at first. But I think as the writers have given him more of the comic relief lines, he’s shown talent in teh humor department…
Elizabeth Mitchell. She’s got an arsenal of that looks.

Emerson’s and O’Quinn’s performances are terrific. Locke’s turn from a character who seems to have everything under control to one who would like to have everything under control (but obviously doesn’t) really worked thanks to O’Quinn. Emerson’s always up for a great moment, see negotiation scene with Keamy in the recent episode. And scenes that have Locke and Ben interacting with each other happen to be some of the best Lost moments.
So far, season 4 has more than made up for the episodes that didn’t work so well in the previous two seasons.

This is crazy talk. Josh Holloway is really good on that show, especially in the season 3 episode with Locke’s dad. All of the Sawyer episodes have been pretty strong.
My wife likes it when he takes off his shirt, so maybe I’m jealous but I don’t buy him as a character or actor.
