One thing about the Ben flash forward is his response when Widmore asks him if he’s going to kill him. Ben says: “You know I can’t do that. I’m going to kill your daughter.”
Is it possible Widmore is Ben’s constant?

That’s an interesting thought.
I hope they really follow up the time-travel with constants story. It would be kind of typical if we never saw any more of it.
Because they’ve never not gotten back to something eventually?
So… don’t mess with Sun I guess.

I cackled with glee.
Okay, so the “does Jack know Aaron’s his nephew?” mystery is solved. And he can’t tell anyone other than his fellow survivors, because he can’t admit he knew Claire.
The writers on this show had to be secretly working thru the strike and stashing scripts. This stuff is too good to have been slapped together since then…
Fucking awesome show. I <3 Lost.
While the show hasn’t ended, obviously, it sure seems like there were many threads that have gone neglected. I assume that’s just to be expected from the nature of the show’s writing. They have a general idea of where they want to end up, but are resolving details a little as they go.
Did anyone else find it a little odd that the settlement from a plane crash could be used to buy a controlling interest in an industrial conglomerate?
Not that I know the stock value of Paik, nor the details of the compensation … But it felt particularly naive to me.
Yeah, I could not see how enough money would have been involved to do that…
Well. who knows with the exchange rate, really.
And most compensation deals are worked out in payments, rather than lump sums, from what I understand.
Not that it couldn’t happen, or there couldn’t be another explanation (Linus has a magic box after all) or that we need to necessarily pick apart the show, but it felt particularly hamfisted to me and I wanted to see what others thought. Apart from that and the ten minute half-sister reveal to the ever-obtuse Jack, it was an alright show.
And the mid-jungle relay race …
Well maybe Sun got money from Hurley and some of the others to help, but yeah, that seemed lame to me as well. Even if the settlements were in the tens of millions it wouldn’t be enough to buy a 51% share of a operation like what Paik appears to be (from the office shots at least).
Good setup episode though. Seems the theory that the flash-forwards are being played out in reverse order holds weight again now that Jack knows about Claire/Aaron prior to the trial and his time with Kate. It also looks like the setup is going to be moving the island in time/space so that sets up the scenario where The Six end up rescued but unable to go back for anyone else even though they may still be alive. Dunno how that’s going to pan out for Desmond, Jin and the other faceless survivors on the boat already though…
“Hugo, Jesus is not a weapon.” - awesome
Man, Cheech is looking really bad these days.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but a controlling interest doesn’t have to be 51%, it only has to be more than any other single shareholder or coalition of shareholders possess. If the common stock is well-circulated and the majority shareholder only has 10%, wouldn’t one only need slightly more than 10% to have a controlling interest?
Also, if a company requires a 2/3 majority to make decisions instead of a 51% majority, one only needs 33.4% in order to hold up any decisions you don’t agree with.
My favorite line, “I wasn’t entirely truthful”
That could be the case, but if you’re going to essentially attempt a hostile takeover against someone you know to be a ruthless and powerful man, I’d say anything less than 51 would be somewhat of a gamble, right? It would leave him an opening to regain that control.
It’s not that there couldn’t be an alternate explanation for this, I just felt it was a bit cheesy. I felt as though it was jammed in to be an ‘ohhh, snap!’ moment …
But it’s been established that Paik has ties with Hanso, and I figure what comes of it will be more engaging than the establishment.

Keep in mind that the settlement they received wasn’t only for the plane crashing, but also to lie about what happened. Which, depending on what would happen if they told the truth, could be worth a very substantial amount of money that would not just come from the airline company.
Good episode. The interactions between Ben and Hurley crack me up. Looks like that might be over though.
Really? I guess we don’t know yet why the O6 can’t tell the truth about what happened on the island - perhaps because no one would believe them, or the O6 bear some responsibility for the deaths of the rest. But I’m not sure the airline has any more or less liability under the real story or the made-up one.
