I meant more that they seemed to be developing something important with that character, and then nothing … There are plenty of loose threads.
I don’t tend to wonder any more whether or not they’ll tie things together - just enjoy the character drama.
I for one hope Desmond lives, gets with Penny, etc. He’s not necessarily dead if he’s not in O6 company because he wouldn’t officially be one of the O6 anyway, i.e. not from the plane. Also we need him around to increase the suspense of Ben’s murderous plans for Penny. If Desmond kicks the bucket, we won’t be as concerned for Penny’s character’s longevity.
And a positive vote for the editors: I thought the Jack-Claire-Aaron connection thing was just right, nicely emotional and I wouldn’t have cut a second.

Anybody else feel like the smoke monster got nerfed in Lost 4.09? The smoke monster in previous episodes would’ve taken out that whole crew of mercs.
Oh, and FUCK ABC for putting the Grey’s season finale tonite and the Lost finale next Thursday instead of vice-versa. I want my Lost, goddamnit.

It’s pretty strange that the smoke monster should have such relative efficacy, but it sure seems that the state of mind of the victim affects the final outcomes with it.
As to what that state of mind is - I can’t figure. It might be as plain as the simple whims of the writers and producers.
I’m more curious to understand what Ben did to effect that result … He went and ‘changed’ things, yeah?

Yeah that whole part where at the end of the episode during the credits they say “coming in 2 weeks” wasn’t nearly as obvious as everyone thought.

I have to confess I’m rather excited about this. This has been the best season of Lost since the original.
So while we’re all here - can we agree to give up on future attempts to create a new Lost thread? Every year we go through the same weaksauce attempts to replace the One True Thread, and every year they fizzle out.
So they’re replaying last week’s episode with “never-before-seen-footage!!1!”, and I thought it would be fluff, but they actually answered a question I had for the longest time - Who were the 3 who died in the fake story?
Nice touch, but I also wonder why they chose the 3 they did.
Also, I’ll say it one more time:
If they kill off Desmond and Jin et al, I will be so goddamned pissed.
No way Desmond goes.
Well, I damn well hope not anyway.

Yeah I’m with you guys - if Desmond dies I’m going to be royally pissed off. I’d rather Jin make it out alive as well. I’ve really grown to like his character a ton over the past two seasons.
Jin did have that DUI, or whatever it was.
The sequence with Locke watching the video and Ben working in the background is a new classic.
