This season is one of the rare seasons I might buy on DVD to rewatch. Easily beats Season 1
So, anyone expecting something to happen to Desmond before he got to Penny?
Awesome episode. Did it sound like Claire had an American accent in the flashforward to anyone else?
I totally expected that.
What a great episode, but what a depressing ending. I’m a big Locke fan so I’m pretty sad about that, but of course I don’t think the island will let him die for good.
I loved the crank thing, that’s amazing and really cool looking. This was easily one of the top 5 best Lost episodes
I loved how we managed to get an explanation for the polar bears, finally, and the show didn’t call any attention to it.
The show also gave us the events that directly preceded Ben’s flash-forward to waking up in the Tunisian desert with a gash on his arm, wearing a parka.
Which is interesting, because didn’t we determine that flash-forward took place at least 8 to 10 months after the O6 get ‘rescued’?
So it took 8 to 10 months for Ben to rematerialized in the middle of the desert after jumping the Island.
Doesn’t time move faster off the island?
Or 8 to 10 months to find the guy he was looking for. We have no idea how long it took him to get from Tunisia to Iraq.

Well also remember Ben didn’t seem to know when he arrived in Tunisia.

Pure awesomeness. Loved the “Walt” cameo. I’m also willing to bet that Jin AND Michael are still around. We don’t know what the deal is with Claire, Jack’s Dad and the other “dead” folks who seem to pop up from time to time, so Michael and Jin might end up with that crowd (finally giving us an insight on them) or just somehow miraculously escape harm thanks to the island’s influence.
Did it ever show how close Daniel and the redshirts were to the freighter? I thought they’d pretty much just left the island, which would mean they transported right along with it. In fact, even the wreckage of the freighter was nowhere to be seen after the transport, so anyone that survived that may have been picked up by Daniel afterwards and returned to the island.
Locke and Ben in the Orchid was hilarious. “Why don’t you watch this instructional video John…”. Awesome.
I think Jin got off the boat, I think that when Locke gets back to the island in a coffin the way Jack’s Dad did, he’ll be back all Obi Wan ghost like, and one theory kicking around the office is that Sawyer and the blonde doctor had a “what the hell” screw after a few more sips of Dharma rum as the boat wreckage burned.
Oh, Christ, I almost forgot - That Dharma Rum was an AWESOME touch.

Anyone else hope Aaron somehow gets left back in the states? Claire became really uninteresting as soon as she had the baby, and just now she started being included in the plot again. Unless Aaron starts speaking in tongues like predicted, I would rather him just disappear.
Are we suspecting that she died in the explosion and is now pseudo-zombie-dead or what? Her dad seems to have gotten up and start walking around after he landed on the island. (Locke probably will too.)

Apparently they filmed alternate endings to prevent people from spoiling who was in the coffin.

I liked the episode, but the flash forward mechanic really ruined a lot of suspense. As Kate, Jack, Sawyer, etc. are on the chopper out to the freighter, my first thought was “I wonder how they’re going to get rid of Sawyer.” Then there’s a fuel leak and my next thought was “Time to jump, Sawyer!” While the flash-forwards were interesting, it ruined any sort of real emotional impact the scene could have had without the foreknowledge that he wasn’t going to be joining the rest.
I had mixed feeling about jack listening to Gouge Away since I love Pixies and have a love/hate kind of feeling towards Jack.
I do think I really like the drunken, pill-popping jack as compared to the island Jack.
Oh my god, my double entendre meter just exploded. I had to come into this thread just to see what the hell happened. Should have known it was you, McMaster.
Unlike Doom 3, I give you a 0/10 OHHHHH SNAP
Pretty awesome.
How ironic that over the course of the show Sawyer goes from Mr Selfish Hoarder to I need to go back and rescue everyone, and then jump out of the chopper guy…
I was thinking last night how interesting it would be to watch the series again, except edited so that all the scenes happen in chronological order. Obviously, that’s an insane undertaking and God knows I’m not the person to do it, but I wonder how well the story holds up told as a straight narrative.
My guts say that the show would seriously fall to pieces if told in chronological order. I love the show, but I have to admit that if I stop for a minute and really think about the story, it might dissolve into total nonsense. A chronological edit would leave little room for anything but thinking about the story.
Also, I think the flashbacks wouldn’t come together very cleanly. The gaps between segments might be too clumsy to overcome in a straight narrative.
