Presumably, this is one of those things that The Others wouldn’t want a bunch of scientists all dicking around with and junk, so they probably weren’t, you know, on board for that. We know there was a truce at some point - it’s possible that the Orchid was designed to look like a horticultural station so they could secretly get to the Strange Matter Donkey Wheel underneath it without arousing suspicion while the truce was still active.

Whoa! Nice.

What I’m wondering now is what was the event that started the baby killing?

Seems like the others didn’t know either…

OK, I’m on board with that.

Sure seems like it’s all leading up to some grand Corruption/Fall.

I don’t know what the climax of Lost’s story will be, but you can probably bet good money it’ll be some kind of self-recursive timeline thing, ala La Jetée, Terminator, 12 Monkeys, etc, where like Jack and Kate somehow end up being Richard’s parents in the distant past or some kind of shit like that. I don’t think writers can stop themselves from doing that sort of thing once they’ve brought in the time travel angle.

Perhaps after effects of the toxic gas used by the Others to take out Dharma from the Tempest, or the what Ben had Goodwin working on?

Yay!

I figured that last night as well. There’s a loop going on here somewhere…

Maybe it’s Locke’s face on the statue.

Wow.

Thank you, last two pages of Lost thread. If Anubis is the statue, does that mean Richard Alpert is one of the original Egyptian inhabitants? (It would explain the eyeliner…)

Throw in the hieroglyphics outside the temple (and shown during the meltdown inside the bunker at the end of Season Two), the Horus/Horace stuff, and/or the biblical baby-killing plague, and I think it’s time to hit the Egyptology books big-time…

I think the big theory is that Jack & Kate will be the two skeletons that they found together in season 1.

I fully expect them to do some kind of time shenanigans at the end, but trying to fit those old skeletons in to it seems a bit of a stretch since they weren’t that big a deal and were way back in season 1. IMO those skeletons were supposed to be Earhart and Noonan.

WHY ISN’T LOST NEW TONITE?

Yeah, I’m kind of mystified myself. And if they’re going to do a re-run, why not do one other than the very last episode they aired? RyanMichael, have you confirmed that it wasn’t just a programming info glitch (in other words that they actually re-aired last week’s episode)? I went ahead and told my TiVo to record it just in case.

I watched the first 3 minutes, stupified. It was in fact last week’s ep, just like the program guide said. :(

They said at the end of the show last week that the next episode wouldn’t be for two more weeks.

I think it makes sense for them to show last week’s episode as the re-run (if they are going to show one at all and not fill the slot with some random one-off special). Lost isn’t Three’s Company, there’s not much sense in showing some old random episode out of order. Showing last week’s episode again is at least useful to the few people who are mostly caught up on the show but missed a week, don’t have tivo and don’t torrent things.

That guy is STOKED.

Tonight’s was one of the “enhanced” pop-up episodes they do every week.

With helpful pop-ups for those new to the show. “Sawyer is talking about Kate” and “Mr. I See Dead People is Miles.”

I was a little ticked off at the repeat since I don’t remember them saying “In two weeks” after the last episode, but maybe I just missed it. It does make perfect sense to repeat the Sawyer-centric episode with pop-up video though as they’ve been repeating the previous week’s episode with pop-ups at 8:00pm anyway for several weeks. Ah well, at the very least it got me to watch most of Scrubs, which was funny.

It wasn’t a repeat - they’re just time traveling again.
