Oh, no kidding. She was magnificent, and my favorite part of that show (Lone Gunmen).

Holy crap - was she the female lead? I thought she looked familiar.

Yup. What was the anagram of Lee Harvey Oswald that was her character’s pseudonym on that show?

If it turns out that Richard Alpert has been totally clueless about Jacob, the Island, etc. and has been nothing but a blind follower (with a bit of power) this entire time I’ll be very disappointed.

Well, if someone touches me and makes me youthful for a few hundred years, I’d be willing to take some of their proclamations on faith.

Did Jacob touch anybody in the finale last season other than Locke? Because I remember that he totally reached down and put the frisky back into Johnny, but I can’t recall anybody else.

When he gave Jack the candy bar, they made a point of focusing in on how their hands were touching.

I’m curious how the idea of “If he touches you, you cannot die” comes into play with Locke, who died.

I’m also curious how much shared knowledge there is between Unlocke and OldLocke. I can’t tell if the stuff Unlocke knows is just common knowledge from him and Jacob.

Is Unlocke a doppleganger?

You can’t be unhappy with chops like that.

The Lockeness Monster appears to be sort of turning into Locke a little bit. He also has all of John’s memories.

And it’s not that you can’t die - it’s that you can’t kill yourself. That was the whole deal with Richard - he wanted somebody else to kill him because if he tried to off himself it wouldn’t work. This would also play into how Jack couldn’t throw himself off the bridge back in the fourth or fifth or whatever season it was because there was a car wreck that distracted him. And John didn’t kill himself - before he could do it, Ben happened into the room and talked him down, and then Ben killed him.

Richard says “you cannot die”. He doesn’t say “you cannot be killed.” He stipulates that you can’t kill yourself – which makes me think that if Ben hadn’t shown up, Locke would still be with us, even if he had gone through with the hanging.

Remember the Michael episode 2 seasons ago? He tried to kill himself repeatedly in New York and couldn’t do it. Pretty interesting how they worked that back into the story.

Good point. And since Jack was also trying to kill himself, that made the dynamite epic fail.

While one of the best scenes (and probably one of the best Jack scenes) in the episode last night was Jack appearing to become a “man of faith,” I can’t help but think that every time Jack was sure of something, it went horribly wrong. I almost expected the dynamite to actually go off.

I’m glad they’re bringing Widmore back into the mix. Is he part of Jacob’s backup plan, or acting on his own? At this point, I’ve got my doubts that anyone is acting on their own.

I’m pretty sure that each pair of people who knew each other had a moment when they first saw each other in the side-flashes where they stare at each other almost like they know one another so I think it’s intentional. Jack and Locke, Jack and Desmond, Locke and Rose, Kate and Claire, they all had that “moment” together. I think what made this one different is that when Alex shows up on Ben’s doorstep she looks so grown up and untouched by the pain she had on the island. Her life is better without Ben and it kinda sucks because we know how much he loved her.

First of all any episode that focuses on Ben is awesome. Second of all, if you’re not on board with what the show is at this point, why the hell are you still watching? There were definitely some stinker episodes so far this season (Kate episodes) but this one was fantastic. Both Ben and Jack had serious character development. We learned things about Jacob, Richard, and the candidates. Hurley asked Richard if he was a Terminator… It was an hour of excellent television.

Yeah, stick to your day job, HRose. Your career as a game/TV/anything critic is doomed.

Yes, please just get Lost.

Oh I crack myself up.

After listening, adorable is definitely the right term. I’m honestly not sure how the physics of their situation works, because she’s just tiny. Infinitesimal. As in, he could probably fit all of her inside of his mouth at once if he just unhinged his jaw or something. And Jorge…I mean, he’s not a small dude. And this has apparently been going on since even before Lost, so it can’t be his fame that’s attractive. Sort of gives me back my faith in the universe a little.

It is utterly hilarious to listen to both of them not understand what in the hell is going on in the script, though.

It is interesting that Ben is apparently going to be on Jacob’s “good” side of the war, after killing Jacob.

He touched all the candidates (this was discussed upthread a few pages).

I thought Friendly told Michael that he couldn’t die until ‘the island’ wanted him to, which is broader than ‘can’t kill yourself’. It also sort of helps to explain things like Jin surviving the ship explosion, all the firefights with no fatal wounds, Ben apparently killing Locke in the body pit, etc. But there’s been such a variety of inconsistent treatment, it’s kind of annoying.
