It’s funny. When the show first started, I hated Ben (I liked his badness but still he was hardly a likable character) but after the last episode, he is now my new hero…well except for Hurley.

“Cheese carrots”

And Juliet- It used to be all Kate but frankly she just annoys me now. Juliet gets my vote now.

I have to say, the last ep was pretty dang good…I am still not sure where it is all going- While I understand that they seem to be showing us the lives of the people if they never got on the flight, I am still confused as to why they are showing us…does it have a purpose or is it just to show us? I like it but I continue to be slightly confused…as usual.

Widmark in a sub…awesome.

Alex wasn’t in Rome according to IMDB. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0713389/

Just so other people don’t rush out to buy the series (even though the series is awesome on its own merits without potential partial nudity of Alex).

No no no - Zuleikha Robinson is in Rome. Ilana. Not Alex. Alex was mostly just in Malcolm in the Middle and a few appearances on other shows.

Kate has annoyed my wife and I from the beginning. Its our new game while watching Lost to guess the way that Kate will screw up a perfect plan or ruin another scene. (IE, all Kate episodes are awful)

Our consolation last episode was that we remembered that Jacob did not physically touch Kate in her flashback, meaning Kate could still fulfill our wishes by killing herself…

I thought Jacob gave her a little friendly poke on the nose or something.

Kate is weird, because I think Evangeline Lilly does the best job possible with the character - and, let’s be honest, it doesn’t hurt that I think Lilly is crazy-hot - but the character is just so poorly written that no actor could save it.

But then again, when you have a cast of character so huge, not everything is going to work for every person.

Dammit, you are right, he does…

Ok, but someone could still kill her, right? Gotta keep hope alive…

I thought he said cheese curds…

Curls?

The closed captioning says its “cheese curds”. Though, some people honestly think he says “she is cursed”.

Some people need to visit an A&W some time. If I were Hurley, I would dream about those.

The show’s creators also stated time travel would not be a part of the series. The show’s creators are unreliable as a source of information.

I don’t really remember them saying no time travel. If they did they certainly didn’t say it to the extent that they have said that it not a dream and not purgatory. They’ve said “it’s not a dream/purgatory” in like every third interview they’ve given for the past five years. It is totally not either one of those things.

Or, you know, any street corner here in Wisconsin.

psssst, hey, man, you wanna hit of the Curd? I got some primo cream, here.

From the “take with a grain of salt” debunked theories page which says, “There are no spaceships, there isn’t any time travel.”

I think the show’s notion and its concept of destiny is that many characters still get to meet each other regardless of the timeline. See also: Ben and his father living in L.A., Nadya und Sayid’s brother living in L.A., Keamy and the other guys living in L.A. Obviously enough, Jin and Sun also stayed there.

Of course, in the case of Alex way less likely given the fact that her parents are some French scientists or something, but I guess the shows simply asks you to accept all that by now.

My usual saying is:

“All roads may lead to Rome, but all freeways lead to L.A.”

I’ll have to modify that to:

“All roads may lead to Rome, but all timelines lead to L.A.”

I don’t think there was any time travel until the end of S2 when the failsafe key was turned. Apart from setting up Desmond’s specialness, time travel continued to play little role in the narrative until the island gets moved in S5.

However, my own viewpoint is that the show has consistently involved time travel throughout its entire narrative arc, as flashbacks and flashforwards are quite literally ways of narratively travelling through the timeline of a story arc.

Granted, all the “killed by one’s own mother before one is born” monkeyshines that we’ve seen in abundance in the latter half of the series are what is usually thought of as “time travel stories,” and of course we have those now. But at the time of that quote, there wasn’t any time travel yet.

Similarly, I think the island is a spacecraft of alien or Divine origin. Same thing if you ask me and any such reveal would leave that ambigious anyway. I can’t wait to be wrong!

The whole “No Time Travel” thing was said when they didn’t know any of the answers early in S1. Somewhere around the beginning of S2 they actually figured out the entire mythology and “what it all means”, etc.

If you believe that they had it all figured out in S2 then I have a friend in Nigeria who needs your help to to get his money out of the country.

Watching this episode, two thoughts crossed my mind:

  • I hope Dick Thornburg makes it to the island. Maybe he’s on Widmore’s sub!
  • Six immortals, with only one eventually replacing Jacob? This could turn into Highlander.

That said, I liked the Ben parts of this episode.
