SMALL SPOILER FOR UPCOMING EPISODE…

According to Wikipedia, the episode in 2 weeks is Desmond focused…

My theory is that Jacob and UnLocke if not two sides of the same personality, then they are the same type species/god entity with the same abilities. Only thing which seems to go against this was that Unlocke was not hurt when Sayid stabs him. But it is possible they can only be hurt by an opposite alignment.

Don’t forget THIS power:

Anyway, I really disliked this latest episode on Richard’s past. Is anyone else going to limp through the rest of the season? It’s been disappointing.

I thought the episode was awesome, Ricardo IS awesome.

How could you not have enjoyed Dr. Linus? And I found the Richard episode pretty good, especially the parts with Jacob and MiB. The only thing it lacked was a bit more exposition – I wish they had gone more into his over-arching timeline on the island instead of dwelling entirely in the distant past.

Also really liked MiB giving Richard the same task that Dogen gave Sayid. And wow, Jacob was hardcore 150 years ago.

I loved Dr. Linus, but that’s probably been the highlight of the season. The Richard flashback did annoy me because it was so far back.

I’m almost certain that unLocke had said something – maybe just a short exclamation or greeting – before Sayid stabbed him. I wasn’t surprised when the knife failed, because Sayid had waited too long, assuming the line “If he talks to you, it’s already too late,” can be interpreted to mean any vocal expression is talking to you.

The additional information of Jacob & MiB’s roles was cool, & I liked seeing Jacob being physical, rather than just staring at people with puppy-dog eyes. I was a bit disappointed by Richard’s backstory. I think I had built him up too much; like others, I wanted him to be millenia-levels of old, not just 150 years. Oh, and as much as I enjoy O’Quinn’s acting, the past MiB is played by a guy who was one of Al Swearengen’s henchmen on Deadwood, and I’d love to see more scenes with him as well. I like his casual hatred & menace during small talk.

So what about that polar bear and shadow creature from the first season?

Holy shit, you’re going to bash Lost in multiple TV threads and then reveal that you haven’t watched the show in years? You’re pathetic.

I’ll take that as a “no” then.

Both have actually been explained. Extensively. Stop trolling.

Not trolling when they didn’t bother explaining them in the second or third season so I was wondering whether they ever bothered.

Yes they have been explained. Poler bears were explained in the third season if you paid attention.

Actually, I missed the polar bear explanation also, and I’ve seen every episode. But I’m not that bright.

With respect to the “discontinuity” of the Black Rock being seen from the island in daylight but crashing at night, we’ve seen something like that before. The helicopter ride in season 3 or 4 with Sayid and Desmond. “How is it we took off during the day but landed at night?” Time moves funky around the island. Not inconsistent, and not unprecedented.

Good catch, I had forgotten about that.

I had considered that, however the boat in the day was clearly visible from land, and it’s been established already that the outer radius of the island’s “bubble” is farther than that.

But it doesn’t matter. It’s already been handwaved. I’m just happy it’s taken me this long to get a peek behind the curtain that actually fractured the illusion.

They never come right out and explain it, but if you follow the bits we’ve seen about how the island works:

  1. There a wheel that you can turn to move the island.

  2. Whoever moves that wheel can’t come back (or, at least, has to go to ridiculous lengths to return).

  3. Charlotte found a polar bear skeleton in Tunisia, in the same place Ben got transported to when he turned the wheel.

Therefore, DHARMA was using polar bears to turn the wheel to move the island.

No wonder they’re going extinct.

Jacob doesn’t seem to be able to appear as anyone else. Heck, he had to die like everyone else did who appears to Hurley. And if he could shape-shift, others would be able to see the shape-shifted form also.

Weakest episode of the season. Even the package was predictable. And this is the second time they have had Sayid unrealistically shoot someone and not finish him.
