I can’t remember what Desmond was doing the last time we saw him in the “real” timeline. Was his last episode the one where he beat up Ben at the docks?

It wasn’t great, but I enjoyed it. Only Kate-centric episodes bother me now.
It was great to see Desmond again, if only for a second. I wanted him to whisper to Soul is Gone Sayid “Easy, brother.”
Face-down Des looked a hell of a lot like Russell Crowe.
I really hope all of this is headed somewhere at least somewhat reasonable, but with six episodes left I don’t see how. Also, was it just my affiliate or did everyone have a huge annoying red V complete with obnoxious countdown timer in the corner of the screen for then entire frickin’ episode? WE GET IT, ASSHOLES!
Yes, the red V was blocking Sun’s scribblepad. Well thought out, ya network pinheads.
Andrew Divoff makes me wish that I were gay.

Yep, we last saw him at the hospital. He had also told Hawking he was done with the island. Gee, I wonder if the fact that Faraday told him the rules “don’t apply to him” will come into play?
So, down the road do we get to see Julliette save Sun’s now endangered baby?

My wife and I are getting tired of this show. It seems they pick characters out of a lotto machine every week to cover who’s going to have conversations with who.
And “not being able to speak English?” Why? Just so she could tell off Batmanuel in Korean?
I know why. I know exactly why. PM me if you want to hear it.
Either the UnLocke “took” something from her, or she has to be altered somehow so she can survive to replace the copy of her in the other dimension.
Could be both. It doesn’t make sense for it not to mean something. It could be that it is vitally important that she is unable to communicate verbally for some reason.
Or, of course, red herring. Aphasia isn’t that big a deal and isn’t that uncommon after a head injury. Since only the above explanations make any sense, it must not mean anything at all.
Oh, and fuck Jack, the worst doctor in the world, “it might be aphasia.” No, dumbass, it is dysphasia. Nice bedside manner either way. What a douche.
So apparently we were supposed to pick up on the fact that in bizarro timeline Sun and Jin were not married, or even engaged, they were just a crime lord’s daughter and henchman who were having a little affair that the boss found out about. Once again the “alternate timeline” destorys the relationship the viewers have with a character (or characters in this case) and makes us care nothing about them (in that timeline). What is the fucking point of this?
It was nice to see Mikhail back though. Awesome that Jin shot him in the same eye that’s patched in the “real” timeline.

My hope is that Desmond’s ep next week starts the pulling of these threads together. He is “special”, and when he appeared on the plane in the first episode of this season, seemed to have an inkling something was going on.
I think the point of the alternate universe is supposed to be the differences. If those dont make you wonder whats going on (and thats why I am interested in them), then I totally agree that they are pointless.
Both are real. Neither is more important than the other.
The implication here is that something about The Island not existing caused Jin not to ask for Mr. Paik’s approval for the relationship. He still ended up working for him, and he still ended up with Sun, but now instead of a marriage, they are having an illicit affair. They obviously are supposed to be in love and have been boinking for at least a couple of months (long enough for her to get pregnant and find out about it), and, if anything, in this timeline they’re better off because they don’t hate each other when they get on the plane. I’m not sure what you think has been destroyed - the essential bullet points of their relationship are the same. What did they lose for you in this scenario?

Really liked this episode. It was classic LOST. The only problem I have is that I don’t think Sun would’ve ran away from Flocke. She’s been away from Jin for years and it just seems crazy that she would run away from any chance to see him again, however unlikely and dangerous. She’s not a cowardly woman. She’s shown some balls in previous episodes.
Every character so far has lost something for me in the sideways timeline. With Sun and Jin it was the sense that what they had was truely good, no matter how much bad there was around it. Now it’s gone from a love that inspired Jin to attempt a social class jump in a society that frowns on such to a simple hidden affair.
With Kate it was much the same. She went from a sympathetic character to a criminal with a touch of concience, yet a criminal nonetheless. Jack went from tortured soul to simply uninteresting. Ben was mildly interesting, if only for the development of a bit of his island persona in his alternate self. Sawyer was probably the least changed of all, basically following the flip side of his coin yet still retaining the essence of his island self.
Honestly, I just don’t give a shit so far about any of the alternate personalities. That’s what made the Richard episode so fantastic for me, finally this season I was seeing something about a character that was relevant to what’s happening on the island and really made me care about that character. It didn’t hurt either that the acting in that episode was far superior to that in many others.

I don’t think that was Sun’s rack in the close up shots. Anyone verify for me? My wife and I were both thinking they were much bigger in the close ups then they should have been. Then my wife hit me.
Pretty sure it’s a body double. And I hope the person who had to put makeup on them liked women.
