Oh yeah, thanks.
Alot of killing could have been avoided if things were explained by those who knew.

Hey! do we finally get to see Driveshaft live?
I assumed it will be Jack’s kid playing…
So will Ben double-cross Smoky and try to kill him?
Why is Hurley helping Desmond help people “let go”?
What did Jacob mutter to the cup of pond water Jack drank?
Conversely, will Smoky succeed in getting off of/destroying the Island, and will it actually matter? This would be a succinct way of ending the series, with the Losties (who are probably just anomaly-clones of real people anyway) and the Island itself (and Smoky too) wiped out of existence when the Island-created time-loops are finally removed from the Universe, and we discover that those whose doppelgangers wound up on the Island are actually members of a community softball league playing in a park in Boise in the summer of 1989. Or a team of scientists that have just landed on Mars.
I got a big kick out of the whole Desmond-puts-the-team-back-together angle. It’s like the beginning of a caper movie.
In fact I’m secretly hoping Sunday will be two hours of the alterna-verse cast carrying out some outrageous scheme to knock over a casino in Vegas.
Man, I’m just hoping this doesn’t end in some ultimate-cliffhanger for the Lost movie to come in a few years. I just don’t like the direction this is going. Jack as the new jacob? That was lazy to me, it was too obvious. Hurley would have been an awesome pick.

I haven’t watched the episode yet, but from the comments it seems the plot is stuck at a month ago.
Another hour wasted doing nothing?

Let me go on record as predicting that Jack will not be the Island Protector at the end.

I wouldn’t say nothing. Several more characters died, and it’s clear they’re building towards something in the parallel universe. Whether the season-long payoff is going to be worth the build up, I’m not sure.
I was pleasantly surprised that they annointed the new Island Protector before the last episode. I had been expecting that they’d hold that until the very end. Hopefully Jack will be able to explain some things to everyone else now that he’s in the know.

Yeah what happened to the super special jug of wine for transferring power? I think the pond water was fake.
Yeah no shit. I guess the writers figured they were running out of time so the easiest thing to do would be to just start offing people. I hope the last episode is two and half hours of a fade to black. It would be more interesting than this tedious and ridiculous wrap-up.

In order, I hope so. It wouldn’t be Ben if he didn’t do some conniving.
My theory is that the alternate timeline is an afterlife. It’s a purgatory effect created by the energy of the island, like Michael described. They’re ghosts trapped on the island and “letting go” would be leaving purgatory.
I think he was speaking Latin again. (Please let it be Latin-speaking aliens!)
I don’t think the liquid matters, it is the pre-drink chant that makes it super magical.
I’ve just been watching an interview with Welliver and Pelligrino, and Pelligrino said the original plan was to have CJ dip the cup in the water, but they changed it to wine. He said it appears that the incantation, not the liquid, is what’s significant and transfers the guardian powers or knowledge or whatever. He must have known that this episode would have stream water instead of wine.
Edit: DAMMIT. What CCZ said.
Oh god… I can’t believe I’ve been watching this show for six years… I so much just want Sawyer to go “WHAT THE FUCK?”
I’m guessing he meant alone in a more metaphoric sense rather than strictly literal. Hurley’s mental state and “curse” (real or perceived) kept him isolated from his parents, Jin and Sun were estranged from each other, etc.
The characters are “metaphorically alone” because of Jacob’s meddling. The show is making him out to be a complete dick.
During those scenes with Jacob, I was just waiting for Sawyer to just say “fuck it” and storm off into the jungle.
Wow, honestly, seriously, if you haven’t even seen the episode and you’re making stupid comments, just shut the hell up. Way to be completely pointless.
I was actually expecting Ben to shoot Jack right before he started drinking.
Desmond will ultimately destroy the island and everything on it, cause he will soon have full realization of the alternate universe and will attempt to make it so.

Jin and Sun didn’t have each other, they only reconnected on the island. Claire was going to give up the baby (be alone). Hurley felt isolated (cursed) with a precarious grip on reality. They were philosophically “lost”.
Desmond is going to pull the series out of his hat in the end.:)
Or Rose and Bernard on the island side.
Really liked the contrast between Ben and alt Ben.
400 years for Richard’s story to get resolved like that? Ugh.
It seemed random rather than tragic or having some point. But other than that, I rather liked the episode.

I wonder if Rose and Bernard might bring a new order to keeping of the island. They have been conspicuously absent from this season.
