Further proof they are pretty much making it up as they go. I was reading in an interview on CNN with the guy that plays Henry Gale. Originally, he was cast for three episodes. He became “the leader” when he did a good job.
I don’t see that as a detriment. So what if they never planned on the Henry Gale character being the leader? If you get an actor that clicks with a role, then why not use him more?
The same thing happened with Spike on Buffy - Spike was never supposed to be a main character at all. (I think he was supposed to only be in two episodes.) But the writers discovered that they really liked writing the character, so they worked him in. Should they have not done that because they never planned on giving Spike a big role?
That what makes writing for television interesting: you get to discover what works as it goes along.

Remember The Woman that had Walt? I think she was going to be the leader, but they decided to go with Henry Instead. I really don’t see this as a big problem.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to make it like it was a bad thing. Personally, I’m thrilled because the actor really is quite good.
I’ve got a fairly ambivalent attitude towards Lost. I enjoy 80% of the shows, and even if the “big finale” is a let down, I doubt I’ll start screaming about the wasted time watching the show.
I enjoy watching it with my wife, and it gives us something to talk about. It’s a fun ride.
You echo my feelings about the substandard character continuity the writers display, but you’re hoping an episode featuring Locke will get the show back on track?
Which Locke are we going to see? The serene mystic with unshakeable confidence in the island, the slightly crazed but ruthlessly capable hunter, or the self-doubting lackey who gets manipulated by everybody? The writers pick a collection of adjectives out of a hat to write his character week to week.
I feel similarly to Mark Crump; the show has some cool moments with character connections in flashbacks, and most of the actors are solid, but I have no expectations that there will be a logically consistent ending. More and more, I’ve given up on expectations for logically consistent characterization, as well.
Frankly I think the writers know where things are going generally, but specifically on an episode-to-episode/season-to-season basis it may be a bit more iffy as far as the creative process goes. They added a lot of writers in the first season and honestly the quality has been very up and down (recall Paul Dini’s first episode regarding the ridiculous radio-triangulation thing).

Got some time travel indications, which makes me fearful of a dumb turn of plot.
H.
I didn’t think it was time travel - I thought it was psychic indications (i.e. Desmond, Eko and Locke are all now psychic after the blast). This may be just as bad - I don’t know.
I did not get the relevancy of that flash back at all.
I do not see how Locke working at a pot farm relates much to “cleaning up his messes.” There’s been ample evidence of Locke stepping on his own cock in flashbacks that they could have used one of them as reference.
Maybe Peggy Bundy was unavailable.

Hopefully she was working on more Futurama episodes.
Perhaps they are just building up to whatever put him in the chair, maybe a cop’s bullet??

Ok so was I crazy or was the Pot leader one of the “others”? I recognized him instantly but my GF didn’t.
I thought he kinda looked like Nick Nolte. I don’t think he was an other.
Who was the cop? I’ve seen him before but I can’t place him.
I recognized him too, but I couldn’t remember him from being in the show before (though he was in Twin Peaks - just as good).
He looks like the fake bearded guy but I don’t think it was actually him.

Pot guy not one of the “others”
So if I do Heroin I’ll be psychic too?
Yes.
You should definitely shoot dope into your scrotum. You will be hip and pyschic.
