Don’t forget, there’s two hatches. Boom Boom hatch and New, Smaller Hatch. The first hatch had some sort of hidden cameras (we saw Loche see Jack). There’s never been any evidence that there were monitors in the Boom Boom Hatch. I don’t recall there being a TV, but there is a film projector that they viewed the training film on. Remember, there was a spliced section Eko and Locke found.

How is that nobody has referenced this yet?

And it’s here full-size, 'cuz the damn h-scroll is borked anyways…

Blahblahblah FUCK LOST.

Good for you! Take advantage of this thrice bedamned thread’s broken HScroll.

Fuck scrolling horizontally. Fuck this thread. And most importantly…

Fuck Penny Arcade.

I like the h-scroll here… it is like lost.

Is this the last post in the thread, or are there more new pages? It is a mystery… UNTIL YOU SCROLL OVER!!!

If you don’t like the show, why are you still watching it? Y’all sound like disgruntled MMO players at this point.

WTF? The bastard writers killed Eko.

Is it just me, or does it make no sense at all to have a big episode about how great it is to rescue Eko from the polar bear cave, and then kill him in the very next episode where he has any scenes?

Why didn’t they just make that one episode? Oh wait… then we wouldn’t have as much footage to pad the mystery out.

Captain Patchy is no mystery. That was most likely the control room for the Others little island station, the Hydra or whatever it’s called. That’s where they have Jack, Kate and Sawyer, and the video feed will end up being how Locke and the rest fo them figure out where to find them.

I think bringing back “the smoke monster” to kill Eko was stupid. It seemed like a blatent “shout out” to all the fans who’ve been complaining that we haven’t seen the smoke creature since early on and accusing the writers of abandoning it. Here they trot it out again, but in a way that explains nothing and only makes it seem more contrived and silly. I still think it could be nanaites acting as a collective, but who the fuck knows at this point.

The two new people crack me up. I love that the first thing Paulo (the guy) does is use the crapper in the Pearl. I was ready for him to bust out with “Whew!! Well, the toilet works, but you may not want to go in there for a few!”. Then Nikki seems to be the only one who wonders “hey, WTF are all these OTHER TV’s connected to?”. It’s like the two of them are there to inject some much needed common sense and pessimism into the show, almost like they dropped a couple of viewers into the mix.

Isn’t capt’n patchy the leader of the cult that John was part of? It looked like John recognized him.

The thing that would lend credence to some of the Others truly wanting Ben dead is that he confronts Juliet on the beach at the funeral, and there’s no way that they could count on Jack having heard what he said. Ben even seems to be keeping his voice lower.

It’s consistent to say both that Jack seeing the X-Rays was not an accident, and that Juliet’s story is true – if Juliet made sure that Jack saw the X-Rays. I have a hard time believing that the surgery angle in particular is a scam, because presumably dying on the surgical table is a pretty likely possible outcome no matter what Jack chooses to do…

I’m bummed that they killed Eko. I think we learned a little bit more about the smoke creature than people are giving credit for.

A. It seems to be able to take the form of dead people as well as fighting smoke mode… possibly explaining the presence of Jack’s father and Dave (and the horse?)

B. Smoke killing monster doesn’t kill indiscriminately – whatever caused it to turn back when Eko confronted it before may have been what caused it to leave when Locke showed up.

C. Smoke monster = Lostzilla.

Sure, those are all implied more than spelled out… but I don’t yet totally get the feeling that they are making it up as they go along.

Also, they did at least give Sayid a throwaway line about not hooking up the TVs. I guess they want to make Mr & Mrs Newb be people who actually contribute…

Plus there was some friction between Juliet and Ben when we saw them at their earliest (the book club thing just before the plane crash).

But I still wouldn’t put it past the writers to have Juliet’s plan be part of some sort of reverse-reverse-reverse-brainwashing…

One question I have about Ben is, how does he have cancer when the island supposedly heals cancer? He’s lived there his whole life. He shouldn’t even have those scabs on his lips by this point.

Different island, he’s spending too much time on the Other island, and not enough on the Lostie island.

H.

Eko dying was really shitty.

That wasn’t the world’s greatest scene, mostly because the red shirt chick isn’t a very good actress, but I’ve seen variations of that sort of situation occur quite often in real life, where someone who is very technically savvy gets fixated on what seems like the problem to solve and winds up completely missing the forest for the trees and someone who is far less knowledgeable points out something kind of obvious, giving the techie person a bit of a D’oh moment. Seriously. Happens all the damn time.

Even more likely: Jack is being played and there is no tumor. Or any other bait and switch.

I don’t think that’s likely. There’s a part of the funeral scene where Ben and Rebecca exchange words in private. Ben asks her why she showed Jack his x-rays. I don’t think they’d keep up an act when it’s just the two of them.

Exactly. If they’re “conning” Jack one more time, they put that scene in for no other reason than to screw with the viewer, which is just stupid. That doesn’t mean it’s not possible, but hey.

There HAS to be a tumor. Ben has come to Jack and said “I/We had this big plan to break you, to make you WANT to save my life.” Rebecca has come to Jack and said “Do the surgery, but maybe just let him die!” There have been X-Rays that Jack recognized as having a spinal tumor.

What’s the con, if there’s no tumor? Get Jack to agree to do the surgery, then lay Ben out in the OR and as Jack asks for a scalpel start laughing at him and chanting “One of us!”?

Side note: Shortly after the tumor is discovered, the plan crashes. However long ago that was, the X-Rays Jack saw indicate that the tumor is big enough to be a serious threat. Let’s assume that the X-Rays Jack saw are fairly recent (they could be the originals/only ones, but that seems stupid on Ben’s part), and that in the time since the crash the tumor has grown to it’s “Death is near!” level. So how can Ben risk his life on this big plan to break Jack to the point where he sees Ben’s group as not bad and wants to save Ben’s life? He’s willing to wait 3 weeks and risk dying (not to mention that the bigger the tumor gets, the more dangerous the surgery, no?) or however long it takes to “break” Jack? And it’s all wrecked because Rebecca brought Jack in to try and save Trixie?

Ugh.

How is it that Jack hasn’t just said: “I’ll do the surgery, after you return Kate and Sawyer to their group. Also, you give me a full tour of this place, and tell me what the hell is going on. When the surgery is done, I can go where I please. Here, home, whatever.”

Ugh.
