LOTRO Barrows Trip Straggler's Party -- Wednesday, May 9, 9:00 EDT

Thought I should start a new thread on this, in case it got overlooked in the recap thread.

I missed out on the Great Great Barrow’s Field Trip, so lovingly organized by our fearless Kinship leader. I’d love to run through the quests, and would so much rather do it with Kinsmen than with random yahoos, so I’m proposing we mimic Tom’s planning and gather at The Prancing Pony at 9:00 EDT on Wednesday evening, May 9.

I figure we can get together at least one fellowship of 6 to take on the quests. As Tom recommended, try to be level 20ish, and have the following quests in your log:

[ul][li]Purging the Dead from Watcher Grimbriar at the Town Hall in Bree.
[/li][li]An Ancient Story of Evil from Naerandir, parked just outside the Prancing Pony.
[/li][li]Heading West from the elf Aradia, who’s lurking with her entourage off to one side of Adso’s Camp.[/ul]
[/li]Post here if you can make it. I’m Nairb, Bane of the Barrows and level 20 Lore-Master Scholar!

Count me in. LET’S DO DIIIIISSS.

Sehndel, whatever of whatever, depending on what mood I’m in. Level 22 gasp hunter.

There’s also another quest that has to be completed in the Great Barrows, part of a quest chain that starts in Bree, in the same building as the Minstrel trainer. I was one of two people in my fellowship yesterday that had it, which was a little sad.

If you have that quest name, Andrew, I’ll add it to the list.

It’s the same building as the Lore-Master trainer (minstrels train at the Prancing Pony). There’s only one quest guy in there, and it’s the only quest he gives – basically sends you off to collect archaeological bits from the barrows over and over again, each round of stuff progressively more dangerous.

Oh, right. That’s what I meant, Lore-master trainer. The wussy classes all blend together in my mind. ;)

We prefer the term squishies.

I do the same. Champions and captains and swordmen and whatever meleer that is neither a rogue or a tank gets classified as “DPS”

If a level thirteen can tag along, I’ll be there. My leveling pace is pretty painful, but then again that’s probably because I don’t group much and take in too many sights.

Great Barrows is mostly level 22-25 elite wights – my fancypants burglar moves were getting resisted a fair amount at level 19.

Can you join in the Great Barrow quest if you show up late? I won’t be able to make it until 8:00 pm PST.

AUGH. Always behind in WOW, now behind in this. (no beta playing though).

What kills me is when I finally get to 20-25 and can do things like GB, everyone will be doing something in the 30-40 range. AND, if there are any in my range, they most likely will be alts of the higher guys so when I go in to GB and don’t know much about grouping, everyone will be on me to start those conjunctions which I have never even done yet…so I’ll feel, sniff, sniff, inadequate.

I’m one of those ‘just cruising around, exploring, working on deeds’ people, so hopefully there will be a few like me in a month or so when I do hit that 20-25.

ok, no more whining.

For those despairing of falling behind, my main is only level 11, so I may organise a Super-Straggler’s party for next week. Or possibly the week after. :D

I’ll probably be there for the Super Stragglers. I managed to get a couple of friends into the game (and away from WoW, go me!) so I’m working on a new main alongside them. I don’t see my 17 Captain being even 20 by Wednesday, as much as I’d like to come along :P

Same for me… Real life imposes too much for me to be leveling quickly. Sooner or later I’ll be ready for a Barrows run. :)

Real life rules here as well. I guess that doesn’t really include Heroes. Or the login/latency issues of the past 28 hours or so. So I’ll be 15 at the very most on this first Straggler’s party. A straggler to the Straggler’s party.

I will be there. I am 6k away from lvl 20…so i should be fine and good to go!!

My characters name is Azaria and she is a Lore Master.

Chris

OH, BTW… while I may have picked the time and posted this, I have zero spoilerish pre-knowledge of where we’re going or what we might come across! I’m enjoying the journey here, too, and while I guide might be helpful, I’m sure if all of us have never been through this way before, we’ll still manage to figure it out.

i am just about to turn 21…so i am for sure going to be there…i will be in game, so holla out loud when it is time!!

Chris

I went to bed last night about 2,000 XP from level 21. All day long, I’ve been thinking of an excuse to bail out of the office early so I can get home and get those last few XP so I can open up another Race Trait slot in anticipation of tonight’s Excursion!

I also just got back from Staples where I went to buy some compressed air to blow out the dust. Don’t want a crash in the middle of the Barrows!

I thought this went pretty well last night for a fellowship composed of 2 level 20 loremasters, 2 hunters, Dasho, and a pickup level 20 minstrel.

We got both halves of the keys with one wipe and one extra death. It was a lot easier at level 29 to tank them than at level 27(?). I hope between me and the minstrel we didn’t spoil too much for everyone.

The boss fights were great fun and went smoothly (probably since they had a hard time damaging Dasho), although watching everyone wail on the second twin with completely empty power bars was nerve wracking.

I hope the rest of the fellowship had a good time as well. I also have the purple sword drop, bloodletter, and another pretty decent one that I rolled on. If any of the hunters from last night (sehndal and borus) want them, please send Dasho a postcard.

Did anyone get any pictures?
