LOTRO to relaunch as free to play?

Hokey smokes, Batman. Thanks!

(What are the odds that SSG doesn’t say “Nope” tomorrow though…)

That… was my thinking as well.

I mean, if they let me keep them, that more than makes up for them not letting me transfer my toons back from Nimrodel.

That seems like it would be a weird thing for them to do.

I wonder if they’ll do something similar for DDO.

I will say this: I am under the impression that SSG doesn’t have many/any people working CS/Accounts type roles, it doesn’t appear. It would probably take them months to track down all the peeps who used that coupon code, and for little benefit if these were areas/quests/content they were going to sell anyway for 99 LOTRO points.

Of course the server is down when I want to login to check.

The coupon Illuminati strikes.

All this talk of free quest, made me want to play again. reinstalled the client but for some reason, I can’t see the 64 bit version of the client in the options. I only see the 32bit choice. I do have a 64bit windows.

Their forum is very useless to help me. I want to enjoy twice the bites!
Any one had that problem before?

Here’s what I did:

Download the client.

Start LOTRO.

On that little launcher screen popup thingy, look at the buttons on the very top. Next to “Support” and “EN” (for English, I think) there’s a down arrow button. Click it.

Choose “Options”.

Go to the “General” tab at the top of the options popup.

At the bottom, select “64-bit client (NEW, Beta!)”

That’s what I did too, but it’s not there. Well… was not there. I can see it now.

I think it was because the server were down. When I tried again a minute ago, I saw the patcher download more stuff and now I see it.

Probably the launcher you can download from the website is not the latest version, and needed to patch or something.

From my account page, I can see I didn’t play this in 6 years.

Anyway, thanks!

Can someone explain the new crafting bags to me?

The carry all lets you store much bigger stacks of resources than the normal inventory, say, normal goes to 50, Carry all might do 999 per slot.

It can also be set to automatically put items into them as you gather.

I have a 50 slot crafting carry-all and a 25 slot task item carry all, so each time I loot something that fits into those, it gets there automatically, and it take up less slots than it otherwise would.

Like, right now I have 500 of a particular task item, in “normal” inventory that would mean 10 slots spent, in the carry all, thats 1.

However, the Addon API hasn’t been updated for years, so any addon that checks your inventory to tell you stuff regarding your “inventory” (such as DailyTask which tells you how many and where to deliver task items doesn’t count items in the carry all… :( ).

Regarding the code; according to global chat they had announced on twitter not to use it yet, as there MIGHT be a problem once they remove the “unlock everything” event they are currently doing and they announce the code.

Basically, there is no need to use the code right now, since they already letting you play everything (afaik).

So it’s a auto matic purchase for those of us who have to hoard every crafting item we find :)

I guess I’ll check out costs in the store for one big bag.

Pretty much yea.

Hoarders Unite, if we could just move anywhere without being stuck looting everything.

I usually quit playing a game when my inventories are full — the “VIP GIFT” of a carry-all got me back.

I’m thinking their new patch might be a little buggy.

My computer keeps shutting off after 3-4 minutes of playing, but when I turn it back on, it’s still connected to the game and all of my windows are still active. Wonder if it’s a heat issue and auto-sleep mode or something. Still, not what I expected from a 1yr old gaming laptop for a 15 year old game. If I can’t figure out the cause, the game’s a no go.

You tried both clients? 32 and 64b any no difference?

No difference between clients.

If its a laptop could be the fan area clogged with dust etc? Had that happen with a laptop I used. Had to use compressed air to get it clean, or a vacuum cleaner might work.

Try running some cpu/computer monitor in the background with logging to see if it is a temperature issue.

The lotro client graphics options also have some troubleshooting settings that might assist.
