Too much chat going on in Nimrodel. Too many peeps. I must have half the server on ignore!
But the game is tonnes of fun!

This is the cheapest I found Microcenter, 15 bucks with shipping - but I didn’t look super hard. 15 seems acceptable for all the perks you get. Now I’m trying to get 3 characters to 20 for their free mount, but crafting has me captivated, especially since with 4 characters going at once I can be very busy keeping everyone kitted out in excellent gear. Seems like quest gear in LOTRO isn’t all that great, so crafting is actually important - I think I like that.
Population-wise … I’m not sure if DrDel is being facetious, but I rarely see more than one or two other people where I’m adventuring. Admittedly my main is a mere 28 and I’m on my <15 newbies a lot, and I suspect most people have moved on by now…
Nimrodel isn’t a very large server… Good call, Tom!
Brandywine, Landrovel and Elendilmere are the larger ones. I’m on in Pacific time and theres a very regular crowd but most of them are levelled out. During American times, I still notice a lot of calls for fellowships, so it’s not a ghost town.

From my very limited experience, quest gear really takes a step up around lvl 40. I got an armor set (3 parts) in Trollshaws that’s better than what can be crafted for me at lvl 42.

That 3-piece armor set was introduced with a new SE region of the Trollshaws well after after launch, and is the secret best armor for all 'toons between levels 36-45 (with help from a higher level player, you can get the quests at a much lower level than 40). Even the medium armor is better than most heavy armor around that level, so don’t take a weapon reward and break the set! (there’s a good bracelet reward; look at set rewards and don’t break the set when you get the quest rewards!).
As you hit level 45, be sure to get your starter legendary weapon from Eregion outside the gates of Moria. Again, secret best weapon that will last you from levels 45-51 guaranteed. It is significantly better than any quest or crafted weapon you can get at that level range.
The Qt3 guys have been good to me and there’s always some chat going on in Kin. But, yeah, Nimrodel’s pretty population light at least at the lower levels. In some ways this can be good, less competition for quest objectives, but it can feel a little bleak at times. I’ve come to bounce back and forth between Landroval, also the unofficial RP server and very social, and Nimrodel. Luckily I dig my character on Nimrodel enough to keep working on him.

I rather like it. Makes the world size feel more … appropriate. Clusters of people in key locations, sparse outside.

I’ve been in the awkward 40-50 level range for so long, and I am looking forward to being out of it soon, and getting up towards the level cap so I can find parties a little easier. I like doing fellowship quests, but it can be difficult to find others to quest with sometimes on Nimrodel.
Any other Qt3 kinnies with a toon around level 50 that want to take on some Angmar quests or other places with me? (just dinged 50 or 51 recently here!)

Yeah, I’m a Hunter so the 3-piece armor set is actually shoulder, chest and a piece of jewellry. Armour of the Woods I think? Thanks for the heads-up on Legendary weapon at 45, will look into it. I guess a Hunter gets a bow, or is it a dagger?
Also, the skirmish that opens up at 40 kicks so many kinds of ass, it’s great for some brutal, brutal fast action.

I KNEW you’d love Ford of Bruinen. simply an awesome skirmish that I could play all day!

I’ve got a hunter that I play fairly regularly that just hit 49 (Fheirin).
Any luck getting your stuff back?

I’ll keep an eye out for you Russ this weekend.
As for the stuff, it’s still under investigation, but I haven’t missed it all that much. So while it would be nice to get the crafting and faction barter items all back, I’m enjoying myself enough just fine without a full Vault!

I have my 46 Captain in Angmar. There’s a lot of quests so I don’t think it will be hard to reach 50 there but it bugs me that I have so many fellowship quests to do there. It’s very lightly populated up there, I guess everybody else is in Forochel?
A shout out to Dwolfe, I got my legendary weapon and already reforged it once. Cool stuff!
Yes, Forochel is the go-to area once you hit 45+. Angmar was the final area when you hit the level 40 cap years ago and it was a harsh place to be. It hasn’t received much love since then and is best ignored until you settle on finishing some epic quests in the area.
On another note, who likes collecting ponies? I am two away from having the whole set (and I’m not including the PvP horses, dammit!)
My ponies, let me show them to you. (I actually have 34 of them, I’m still trying to figure out which ones I missed.)

Hunters get one of each LI, bow and dagger (the first has to get to level 10, then you get the second. not having a hunter, I can only assume you get the bow first (you get the main hand item first on all my mains, then the class item)).
it’s a joy to have it up in forochel especially, as you really do feel superpowered for a few levels DPS-wise, which rarely happens in lotro now’a’days.
The game has been fairly balanced on DPS since shortly after Moria came out (my captain went from critting for 3k on devestating blow to 1800 after the melee/ranged DPS rebalancing that occurred shortly after LI’s came out, in part by the normalization of weapon speeds. Before, you wanted the halberd for slowest attacks/biggest crits as you had so few attacks as a captain; now I could use any two-hander and there’s almost no difference. Back then I shelved my minstrel as it was literally unplayable solo from the relative lack of DPS. Since then they’ve improved minnie DPS with the faster ballads, slightly decreased resists to tactical damage, and toned down melee/ranged DPS to reasonable levels; RK’s are still the max DPS class now afaik).

Are players on the new US servers as insane as the EU ones when it comes to buying light and medium hides on the AH? I posted 100 of each and 2 hours later they’d been sold for the buyout price, and I’d made 2 gold. I mean, 1 gold for 100 light hides? Why?
Yup, except on very populated servers, the price for raw resources at the lower and middle tiers tends to be very high. Why? Because you’ve got high level characters with more gold than time going back and learning crafts rather than building them on the way up.
And they’re also trying to twink low level alts or Kinship members with crafting skills.

Didn’t even think there was that many horses in the game hah.
