There are over 40 horses and goats in LotRO.

and just like the Pokemons - you gotta collect them all!
I found a nifty trick to get up on the roofs of Bree. It’s surprising how much empty space is in the town once you can see behind the walls.

I wanted to highlight this because I just followed this plan and it worked well. I would make a couple adjustments: go for the legendary weapon at 46/47 since there are 6-7 level 50 quests in the Moria area with nice loot that would be easier then; and I’d also avoid Angmar as much as possible since the area is frightfully dull.
My plan would go: south Trollshaws->Misty-> Forochel (start at 43-44ish) -> Eregion.

The bits of armour/jewelry you can get in the moria starter area are nice upgrades, but pale in comparison to the DPS from the LI; if I were on the server I’d just make you best-in-slot items for your level instead, but I’m based on Arkenstone (and no one else in Qt3 is…but since I’ve been here since beta, I’m not moving!).
Note there’s a rather sweet wrist-slot item for hunters/burglars in east misty mountains around that level. Used to be second-best-in-slot when that zone was first launched.
Most classes can clear most of the instanced quests outside moria at 45 if you are careful with your pulls (there’s two caves in that zone, the one full of orcs is probably not possible at 45 for any class except RK/warden).
Angmar is terrible and gloomy, but it’s worth going in there and riding up to Gath Forthnir and the dwarf camp for the horse points if you intend on doing Volume 1 near-level. As it is, I’d still recommend doing as many quests as you can stand in Angmar on just one character, to better appreciate Turbine. <old>That Angmar you see is version 3.0. It was incomplete at launch, then they filled in more quests/rewards (pocket item I use at level 58 comes from a level 42 or so quest line here), then they did a total revamp to streamline the quest progression.</old>
Angmar is horrible and oppressive, and I can’t wait to run the instances with friends once you can run them as classic instances from anywhere in the world.
<old>Back near launch it was a half-hour hellride just to get to the entrance to the instances, including leaping nearly to your death to bypass switchback passes, training 20 spiders, and needing keys to unlock entrances to the area. I healed my kin group in Carn Dum at level 41 on due to the lack of healers, in a level 50, end-game instance; one where I could be two-shotted by anything. It was glorious fun.</old>

I was playing as a warden, and my LI was a javelin which was pretty underwhelming. I was able to clear both caves, though. The north cave (Brakcenborough?) just had cave claws and should be easy for anyone.

I dont understand why you guys say the LI is overpowered at 45 - at least, this isnt the case for guardians. I have a man guardian, so went with one-handed sword, since the other options included axes and hammers which wasnt really worth it.
the LI starts at 35 dps, and the one I used had 37.5 - I know it can be increased, but its not that horribly overpowered.
Back in those days, I never could find my way to Carn Dum via the spider caves and was reliant on people summoning me. I spent most of my time bitching about how turbine made it insanely hard to get to the instance, let alone go through it. They also had the ridiculous notion of no fast travel to or from Gath Forthnir, so any trip up there was a huge pain. Thank God they’ve gotten over the belief that advanced time wasting somehow enhances the game.

IT WAS ALL FOR NAUGHT! ;-)
But isn’t the point with LI’s that you get to put enhancing thingys in/on them. Plus, IIRC, your LI does Westernesse and I’m uncertain as to whether your axe of awesomeness didn’t do Common? Plus, your LI is already levelling which I expect to be a good thing.

haha! Damn you! No, it wasnt all for nothing, but I was just curious since the DPS isnt that insane :-D As for damage - good memory! I Set it for westernesse but had the choice between that and ancient dwarf. Yeah, levelling and the added stats makes it one hell of a weapon, but not for DPS which is kinda worse than many other options I have right now.
Have you been leveling up your LI’s damage stat? That needs to be purchased like any LI ability/power. LI’s do do more damage than any crafted or reward item once they’ve been developed.
My main on Landroval’s got a couple different LI weapons.
His new favorite is an Orc-slaying one-handed axe with Beleriand damage on it. That was a reward scroll from Enedwaith (the latest zone). It’s fantastic for dealing with, ayup, orcs. I’ve taken to messing around with the Ardour stance since getting an LI rune that favors it. So that one-hander is great for bouncing between dual weapons or weapon and shield whether in Ardour or Fervour. Glory isn’t very good for much in small groups or soloing, sadly, but I’m not slotted for tanking usually. His slotting strategy is built around AoE but with some single-target flexibility and in Ardour, with his defensive Rune, he can survive respectable amounts of damage while still dishing it out sching-sching style.
The old favorite, though, and one I still break out all the time is an older two-handed Hammer with ancient Dwarf damage. It just looks so cool. Like a big ingot of molten metal on the end of a pole. Gabifelak, in dwarven (Khuzdul), means something like orc-slayer. But it’s really a dragon-slayer as they’re vulnerable to ancient Dwarf make weapons. That’s when it comes out. And in RP events. This is Hagall’s IC weapon of legend.
Why not swords on a Man since we can trait for a 5% damage boost? Finding a good LI with useful powers is a pain in the butt so I just dropped that trait when I found my old hammer. It’s also an unusual weapon to see which I like. Everyone and his brother in Champion-ville is running around with a pair of swords at his hip like oversized rear fins on a 60’s Chevy. The newer axe is the same story, useful AoE, crit and Rend oriented abilities. I also like the axe’s inherent power is reducing target armor which stacks nicely with Rend.
That said, long term, if and when I get back to old Hagall I’d been working on weapon crafting with the idea I’d just make my own LIs until I created the ultimate two-handed sword of doom. Most of what you get find on the market (2nd Age at least) are rejects and cast-offs from a weapon-smith trying to create perfect items for himself or his kin.
Brian, you got any more lowbie characters on Landroval? My warden Solira is at level 41 at the moment, and I’ve got plenty of unfinished fellowship quests.
Yeah…I do have some lowbies on Landroval. But they’re really lowbies, in the teens. My gaming ADD doesn’t leave me much time for multiple alts in the same game usually. So it’s Hagall (65) on Landroval and my new project Brombor (29) on Nimrodel mainly.

Brian get a gold star and moves to the head of the class!
You want your LI’s at level 45 so you have six levels of playing the game and earning LI exp to power them up. ONLY power up your DPS stat until it’s maxed on weapons (even minstrels/RK’s have a base DPS stat, tactical damage, now; when LI were launched they had a DPS stat like other weapons that everyone just ignored).
The max DPS stat of your LI will be higher than any other weapon you can equip at level 50.
Your starter weapon should have its ixp gain turned off when it dings level 20 (do not reforge it yet!). It only gains ixp when wielded, and relics slotted on the LI can only be removed without destroying them at a reforge point. So put your best relics on it, spend six levels enjoying the best DPS at your level, then deconstruct it once you have a better weapon leveled and ready. Similarly, if you want to slot your best relics on weapons, you have to wait and deconstruct at either max-level or immediately after a reforging if you want to recover your relics. Plan accordingly.
Once you ding 51, find as many LI’s as you can to fill your six LI slots, and pick one to level as a replacement for your starter LI weapon. (search the auction house for level 51 weapons). LI weapons start at level 51, so you have to wait till then to fill your extra slots.
Generally, level 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, 63, 65 seem to be the breakpoints where it seems worth swapping to a new, higher level LI (having run four characters through the progression now). You need to level the new item to (about) ixp level 14 to match the DPS of a maxed out lower item-level LI.
He’s not kidding. It makes a huge difference. You can level up your damage I believe to Rank 7, and it dwarfs comparable level weapons at that point. It’s awesome.

Yes I have reduced myself to begging for gear.
Anyone else know where I can get +x bonus gear (epic gear or whatever Turbine calls it) drops for a level 41 hunter?
group raiding takes forever to organize and I can only play in 30 minute spurts… father of three kids

Any woodworker worth his salt should be able to deliver at least the critted lvl 38 bow, since the 41 is a unique recipe. Or just the 42 lvl Black Ash bow. What are you crafting and could I ask you to consider creating a woodworking crafting alt? You really should, y’know?
If you’re not crafting at all, look on the internets for quests that give you the gear you need.
Edit: Or do skirmishes, like Marcin said.
Yeah, run a couple skirmishes. 40 should give you Ford of Bruinen, I think, which is the most fun skirmish of all time.
