Silly? Its horrible.

How hard would it have been to made a passive skill so you could continue using yourpocket items.

Anyway, the Digital River purchase thing threw me off, as I couldn’t discern how this tied into my LOTRO account, so I just gave up and continued Skirmishing =)

Haven’t grouped in LOTRO since before Moria. Wish they’d update the Fellowship thingy a bit so you could do random cross-server dungeons.

So if I would pre-buy Isengard, what am I missing from the Moria expansion that’s relevant? In other words, are there good reasons to want to buy Moria separately?

Its… MORIA! Whats not to like.

He’ll, I’d reroll a Dwarf just to make it more authentic, I just cant stand the German-ized English they speak. Dwarves should speak Scottish, everyone knows that.

Edit: In terms of the Epic Questing I do not know though. As I’m still stuck on Book 1 level 40-ish… (55 now). I suppose many of them can be soloed, or perhaps I can take my soldier (pocket healer) with me.

I pulled the trigger. Digital River gives you a code that you then type into your myaccount.turbine.com page to unlock everything.

note that although they don’t make it obvious there are also $29.99 and $39.99 ‘versions’ that come with less dumb crap^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hawesome stuff than the $49.99 one. I bought the cheapest one.

How does that work if I already have these expansions on my account from before the F2P switch?

I imagine that you’d get whatever zones you didn’t have. I didn’t pick up that version myself. I know I read that VIPs would have access to the quest packs if they dropped down to Premium.

Then you should buy the Basic version (ie the cheapest), which doesn’t give you those packs.

Wendelius

No,Dwarves speak russian. Trust me they sound outstanding in russian.

They redid all of the Epic Quest (Vol. 1-3) to be soloable so you’re good to go. Volume I was actually a lot of fun story wise on how it all played out, and I’m enjoying Volume II as I quested through Moria, Lothlorien and now Mirkwood going through it.

Tried googling for it, but couldn’t find a Russian Voiceover Pack. Heck, they could speak a fictitious language, and just have it translated as text, eventually you might even learn the language. (obviously, cheating and just keeping the grammar from English so its a 1:1 translation).

Good times! Now I got something to do when not Raiding in wow.
I feel Moria lacks a lot in terms of soundscape and Ambient Sounds though.

The only thing that keeps me away from playing LOTRO is the traveling times. This is for leveling only. I hate the travel system. I wish there was a way to travel faster. I feel that more time is spent running around than actually playing the game.

I understand the need to have Middle Earth feel big, but I don’t have tons of ‘real time’ to waste riding slow horses from place to place.

They have changed a lot of this with the addition of more travel locations, more swift travel options, and instant warping for a lot of the more absurd epic quests. They have also, through their revamps, moved quest hubs and quest givers to more localized places.

Hm, so if you get all the packs in Isengard, it sounds like potentially a better deal than buying the quest packs individually over time?

Edit: Oh, I see. There are multiple editions and the one with EVERYTHING is the 50 dollar one.

A la carte quest packs it is! :P

This is exactly how I felt so I’m glad to hear the xp bonus is optional.

Does anyone know how long the pre-order specials will last? I’m not quite ready to pull the trigger yet but likely will be by the end of June/start of July.

Travel was clearly one of their main time sinks in the original design. It was an unfortunate choice.

Well, at least the first time you traveled in an area you had the sense of exploration. I suppose they could still reward you for doing stuff in places people dont normally go, like in DAOC where you got bonus XP if you killed mobs in rarely travelled areas.

I saw that their Online store sells the ability to get a second hearthstone bind, for 350 points or something (DEMOCOUPON gives you 5% discount, single use).

I’m just glad I did enough PVP at level 50 to get a 15 or 30 minute map to Glan Vraign (?) which acts as a hub to Bree and other cities through fast travel. That, combined with the human trait and the hearthstone means I have at least 3 locations available to me.

Still, in Moria I’ve so far only walked around, as I need to kill kill kill to get all the achievements done.

I actually like the increased travel time in LOTRO. For me, it makes it feel like more of a world and less of an XP carnival.

I get that, but not having big chunks of time to play, the artificial travel time sink is unfortunately wasted time for me. LOTRO is exactly what I want in an MMO, but I get too frustrated with the inability to get anything done in a quick session.

I started STO for the first time since Beta last night and really like how they handle travel and quests…at least at the beginning.

I got my RK to 45 awhile back but stopped playing because soloing the Epic quests became too hard. I’m leveling a Warden on Nimrondel now and seem to be making better progress. A big decision in rolling the Warden was the run speed boost…naturally!

Well, with the Skirmish system you do not have to travel anywhere though. As you can join it from anywhere. At least gives you something to do.

My hunter has an entire skill bar devoted to travel. My other’s get by pretty well with a combination of a local bind to where ever I happen to be question plus racial and reputation ports to swift travel hubs.
