You should already have the skirmishes for free, as they are part of the Vol II storyline and all of the Epic Story should be F2P at this point I believe. Though in order to access them you need to have reached that certain point in the storyline. Just finished up Vol II over the weekend actually, and am starting to go through some of the Epilogue. Turbine did a great job of actually making the Epic Story actually feel epic and engaging through both the Volumes so far. Enjoyed both greatly.

It doesn’t add VIP to an existing account as far as I could tell. Certainly it didn’t for me.

The boxed version does come with a month of VIP.

roguefrog, it looks like several people are selling unopened copies on Amazon. Prices seem to start at around $33 so you’ve missed out on the $10-15 copies but there are still unopened copies to be had if you want to go that route.

Sadly you can’t buy the Moria Expansion on the LoTRO Store. Just the Moria Quest Pack, which gets you most of the way there, but you would still have to buy the Warden and RK on your own and the two extra character slots that come with the expansion as well through Turbine points. The Moria Expansion was a great deal when you could get it cheap, but hard to find anymore.

Look, I had the boxed copy of Moria. I activated it on my free account. I did not get a month of VIP. I am assuming it’s the same deal as traditional MMO expansions where the free month is only for people who have not previously subscribed, but I can’t be sure.

The Moria expansion is available in the store. It’s under Acct>Quests>Expansions>Moria in the store. I’m planning on getting it at some point after I get Isengard pre-order. The 1000 pts you get with it will put me well over the top. Though I may go for the $50 dollar pre-order that has the quests for Moria as I already purchased the Warden (most awesomest class ever!) from the store last year.

If you live near a MicroCenter store or are willing to pay shipping (http://www.microcenter.com) you can still get the Moria boxed edition for $20 (sometimes they go on sale for $10 even). A quick hit on the website shows most MicroCenter locations still have a few in stock.

That’s very strange. I had been playing for months before I activated mine and I got the free month. In fact, there is a lot of advice in this thread and elsewhere about the most strategic time to activate your boxed copy to maximize the benefits of the free month.

If your copy wasn’t used (i.e., the key had already been used by someone else) you probably could have submitted a support inquiry but I get the impression this was a while ago?

I’ll definitely be back for the expansion, if not sooner. Looks great and LOTRO is still my favorite MMO in recent years.

But had you subscribed before you activated it? I was a LOTRO player before free to play. I got all the other benefits, so it definitely wasn’t a used key.

My boxed copy of Moria gave me a month of VIP. I’ve had an account since launch.

Yes. I’d been subscribed for two months.

How long ago was this? Turbine might still be willing to honor it if they see you never got your month. 'Wouldn’t hurt to ask I suppose.

It’s not worth the bother, really. I’m not in an MMO mood lately and even if I was, it’s just a few perks I can always buy if I really cared that much.

Yes, same as others. I got a free VIP month along with all the perks from a boxed copy of Moria. I’ve been a LOTRO player since the start, just lapsed into free after my interest waned.

Malkav, are you in Europe by chance? The Codemasters European boxed version of Moria did not come with a free month of VIP for F2P players, I recall that being a big stink back when they changed over.

If you are in the US and had a US (Turbine) version of Moria then you should have received a free month of VIP, 500 TP, the two character classes (Warden and Rune Keeper) and all the Moria quest and game content when you activated the CD key on your account. If you didn’t get the free month, and it was recently, I’d contact them about it through the website. They can probably credit you the month VIP and the TP that would have come with it.

Nope, US citizen. I guess it’s theoretically possible Amazon sold me a Euro copy, though I doubt it.

For anyone that wants VIP for a month and doesn’t want to drop $40 on Mines of Moria, see if your local Half-Price Books has any boxed Shadows of Angmar boxes left. I just picked it up for $3. Note - the ONLY benefit of doing this is getting one month of VIP. No quests, no unlocked classes, etc. And you can only do this if you haven’t already used a Moria key (if you happen to find both an SoA box and a MoM box, use them sequentially and get 2 months VIP).

The Summer Festival has started for fans of horses/cloaks. The new summer horse is pretty cool looking.

Perfect timing, as my newly started champion was looking pretty bad. Now with the summer tunic&pants as well as the Golden Tree cloak.

The summer festival has finally given me a reason to start up the fishing hobby in the game!

Now to add more horses to my small but growing collection!
