Personally, I’m on the look-out for reruns of “The Phoenix” with Judson Scott, and “Otherworld,” about the All-American family in a station wagon that gets sucked into another dimension. I probably only caught about 20 minutes of each show back when they aired. Oh yeah, and “Bring 'Em Back Alive” with Bruce Boxleitner, since I can’t remember if it was better than “Tales of the Gold Monkey.” Sure, it was all crap, but at least it’s familiar crap.
Gotta go with the old Wolfie, if only because the music was so funky that it spawned the most expensive TV soundtrack in history. That and the way they somehow managed to pack about 200 missiles under the back seat.
Airwolf just looked cooler. Plus it had that missle rack that came out from under the copter, how cool was that? Blue Thunder just looked like a big Apache helicopter. Plus Blue Thunder had that silly stealth mode … look if we just push this button, no one can hear our helicopter … sure that sounds believable.
Plus as an added bonus, Airwolf had Jean Bruce Scott who I thought was hot!
Yeah, and Airwolf would be wiping the floor with enemies like Soviet MiG fighter jets and U.S. Navy warships, and BT would be fighting what, drug dealers in beat-up cars? :D
Wow, I have no recollection of Dana Carvey on Blue Thunder – did he play things straight or was he his usual self? I guess I mostly remember the movie and don’t remember the TV show at all. Anyway, I take Jean Bruce Scott over Dana or Bubba any day of the week.
I’ll give AIRWOLF props for its theme music (brilliant!), but the helicopter looked like a commercial chopper with some bits added on. Not very impressive.
Doesn’t every helicopter in every TV show and movie ever made about helicopters have to do a loop at some point? Wasn’t that the big finale of shudder FIREBIRDS?
I’m sure I saw footage of an Apache doing a loop in one of those military hardware shows circa 1992. Well, it was more like a very quick tumble, but they called it a loop.
I certainly wouldn’t want to be in the front seat when they try that.
Does anybody know if anybody has sampled the Airwolf soundtrack for a rap song yet? How Many Wanna is still Ja Rule’s best song, and Fire It Up is real high on Busta Rhymes’ best-of-list.
Anyway, Airwolf is sadly forgotten today. People know Knight Rider and The A-Team, but nobody remembers Airwolf.
Come on, they had an awesome helicopter based in a volcano! And they always solved crimes by using the missile launcher and their ‘go-real-fast’ mode. Except for that one shitty episode on the cruise ship with no helicopter climax. Ugh.
Oh, and MacGyver is reputedly being turned into a movie, with some scuttlebut I heard being that Richard Dean Anderson would have a small role and the main character would be a new MacGyver, like a relative or somebody.
I always preferred A-team to Airwolf. Now that was quality entertainment. Lots of guns firing, but no one ever got hit by a bullet. And you could always depend on atleast on car crash each episode.
