great game. skins pull off a win, 38-21, in a battle of the rookie QBs.
Skins’ Jake Scott: 21/27, 2 INT, 3 TDs, 181 yds
Viking’s Kelly James: 9/26, 1 INT, 1 TD, 139 yds
it was all about running game. AP ran for 154 yds. Portis/Redmond (skin’s rookie RB) ran 90 yds/122 yds respectively.
Randle el fumbed a punt return in 1st Q, and we got lucky, managed to hold for just a FG. Jake Scott is not allowed to throw more than 10 yds downfield typically, but one of the few times he was allowed to toss it down field, managed to find a double covered Devin Thomas who grabbed it and ran in for TD.
btw, i keep getting a message when i load into online franchise that an “xbox limitation” is preventing me from chatting. any ideas what that means? i have a valid gold acct that hasn’t expired yet. very odd message.

In what will probably be dubbed the Belly Bowl, the 3-11 Steelers beat the 4-10 Patriots 37-20 in a rather undignified game in which SIX players were carted off with abdominal strain, which ends Marshawn Lynch’s season and (to our immense benefit) put Tom Brady on the bench for the third quarter which castrated the Pats’ offense and allowed the Pittsburgh team to rally behind rookie QB Dane Morrow for some pinpoint short passing that kept the New England defense guessing.
Highlights included picking Tom Brady off THREE times. With my LINEBACKERS. It was glorious.
(Let me celebrate, this breaks our SIX game losing streak.)

Okay. That was brutal.
The Bucs and I are back together, and I’m already regretting that decision. Their defense, which was already suspect, is even more reliant on string and duct tape since starting MLB Barrett Ruud is apparently out for 9 weeks with a torn hamstring. When did that happen? It’s a precipitous dropoff in the overall rating after Ruud, going from his respectable 85 to Jonathan Goff’s 63.
Our starting SS is also out for 4 weeks with a torn quad, as is our worst WR, for 7 with a forearm injury. In the case of the latter, why was he even out there to get injured in the first place? I’m looking at you, AI!
For a while, we played call-and-response with the Falcons, even leading by 3 at one point, but then Michael Turner kept steamrolling our defense, and Matt Ryan got as much time in the pocket as he wanted. The Falcons went on to defeat Tampa 34-20, with 415 yards of offense to our lowly 157. Turner had 183 yards on the ground (and 14 through the air), so he single-handedly outgained our entire team. English threw 5 fucking picks at the worst times, usually with a receiver right there; the Falcons just decloaked in front of the ball. English didn’t even finish the game, getting knocked out for a few plays after trying to tackle an interceptor. It didn’t help that the Atlanta run defense was nothing if not stalwart.
But Ryan was responsible for the only Pick 6, an 83-yarder by Gaines Adams, who’s proving pretty good for a dead man. He also returned an INT 61 yards for a TD against the Seahawks.
One more game to go until this nightmare of a season is over. And we get fuzzyslug! Not that there’s anything wrong with that; we like playing fuzzy.
The recently departed (and hopefully returning) Not One of Us’ Cards and the Seagulls and just battled for 5 ! Quarters.
After coming back from a 20 to 3 deficit in the first half dominated by the Card’s Defense, and down 21-28 with 3ish minutes left on the clock, the Hawks pass on the onsides and kick it deep, the Madden God blessed us with a fumble. A few plays later, tie game.
Overtime was a back and forth stuggle with both teams moving the ball before the defenses stiffened and forced punts. The Hawks were finally able to get into field goal range with 20 seconds left on the clock to win the game.
Epic game, and it cost me Nate Burleson (abdominal tear) for my final game against the AI Chargers.
