Heh, you noticed that, huh? At this rate I’ll still be looking for my first non-AI win when we meet up.

I do the same. The kicking online is nearly broken.

At least we won’t see that DE in the playoffs. :)

Locked up for me. Do you want to try it again? My internet is just fine.

How are you on your end? DId it lock too?

It asked if I wanted to play vs CPU. Not sure what happened.

I can play tomorrow night. But I will be out of town Fri-Sat-Sun. So if not tomorrow then we’ll have to shoot for sometime next week.

When you upload a highlight, where is it viewable online? I can’t seem to find the location…

If you’re talking about that amazing 55-yard, multi-tackle-breaking run by Grant, it’s there. Look at the Video Highlights tab in the franchise screen, accessible from EASports.com.

Or log into EASports.com, go to Media Lounge, and go to My Media. If you do it that way you can paste a publicly-accessible link in here.

Or I can just link to your media page.

(Or the Grant clip itself.)

Haha, thanks for the help! Damn, that was a great run.

Impressive foe-tossing charge there by Grant.

Now do it against an actual NFL team!

You know what is sad? All of my wins have been against the AI, and all of my losses have been against humans. I’m really lucky to be 4-4. I gotta start kicking ass against you guys!

Hey, it could be worse. The Bucs are still searching for their first win against a human team (curse you, Vikings, and your last-second, game-winning field goal!) and they’ve been beaten by the AI as many times as they’ve beaten it. And the one victory against the AI was a three-point squeaker (but could have been six if they hadn’t missed an extra point and a two-point conversion).

Plus, we only have one more game against the AI all season. Fortunately, it’s against the team we beat (the Falcons).

Amazingly, we’re not dead-last in the division, and it’s probably because of that one, solitary victory against the Falcons. They have the same record, and a far better points differential, but we have a 1-1 divisional record to their 0-1.

Finally, how the hell don’t the Skins have at least one victory by now? Stronger opponents? At least Week 17 versus the Jags should be a gimme, assuming Maurice Jones-Drew doesn’t carve 'em up.

Yeah, same thing here. Somehow the game screwed up and is ranking the Bungles over the Steelers, but since we plan to win the remainder of our games this season, that should improve our standings.

Omniscia, I want to apologize in advance that you have to play me again. At least that’s the next game I have after my current bye week, and then you can focus on better things!

If it helps, I plan on stomping the Falcons twice, too.

The skins are in a rebuilding year. no wins at all. we attempted to convert to 3-4 defense without enough talent at LB. That experiment ended miserably. Our OL is old and slow. Portis is half a man. and we’re dropping our rookie QB into trial by fire. :)

I bet he’s having a better season than Jack English!

Im logging on in 5 minutes, and will look for you if you are still game!

Your hubris will be your downfall, Socrates. Mark my words.

Shush! English is making great strides in a horrible organization.

Hey, even Peyton Manning went 3-13 his first season!

In an honestly rather sad game, the Cardinals just walked over Omniscia’s Buccaneers, crushing them in a blowout.

A slow first quarter saw two punts and a Cardinal fumble, with a late touchdown from Warner to a fullback. Then, early in the second quarter, the most dangerous cornerback in the game, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, picks off Jack English and takes it to the house. Interceptions would be a recurring theme.

Some Larry Fitzgerald greatness later, and the Cardinals are up 21-0. Some more Fitz greatness and it’s 28-0. More interceptions lead to a Neil Rackers field goal, resulting in a halftime score of 31-0.

In the third quarter, more interceptions, another Rackers FG, and an Anquan Boldin run for a TD, and the Cardinals are just in the lead at 41-0.

Now the Cards start to get a little cocky, trying things they ain’t used to. 3rd down and 4 to goal, they go with an unfamiliar play. Warner misses an open Fitz, and throws to J.J. Arrington out in the flat. The pass is picked off, with Arrington hauling ass down field, 91 yards, to stop the TD. The Cards would then hold the Bucs off for only a field goal.

Another drive, and Beanie Wells punches in for seven more points. The Cardinals defense then switches to a prevent defense, which promptly prevents them from stopping the now alive Bucs passing game, resulting in the first touchdown from Jack English all day (to offset his five thrown interceptions). The game ended in a ‘meh’ with another failed attempt by the Cardinals to pad Larry’s stats, resulting in an INT in the endzone. End result, 48-10, Cardinals.

I must honestly say, I have never played a team as bad as this. Following along this season, I thought the person behind the Bucs was just a bad player, not taking care of the ball and being just generally poor on defense. Playing Omniscia today, while he can definitely improve in areas, it was apparent that it was mostly his team that was killing him. Good Lord, they were bad. The contrast between the Cardinals and the Buccaneers was staggering. One had players putting in full effort, the other looked like they couldn’t be bothered. I felt bad for delivering the beating.

Even so, some suggestions I could make to Omniscia:

  • If I understood it, you had the Madden Suggestions thing popping up. Disable that, and fully open up your playbook. Go into practice mode, and run through one play for each formation, with a randomized formation for the opposing defense. Run through each play about fifteen, twenty times, just to get a feel for it. It’ll help with your timing immensely.

  • Verticals are hard. Don’t do verticals. Unless a play is well open, there’s a good chance a corner will turn around and pick it off, or a safety will jump it, and intercept the ball. Stick with slants, flats - quick plays for short chunks. Throw only to players after they make their breaks, and there is no other defender in the area.

  • Once again, practice mode. Just get a few plays down, spread out across formations. Add these to your audibles for quick change-ups. Do the same with defense, though from what I saw you did use defensive audibles, with some success.

  • Lastly, I hope you have a better draft next season!

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence. And the pointers. It’s much appreciated.

But would it have killed you guys to just put us out of our misery and kneel on the ball after that INT with 30+ seconds to go? No reason to risk Larry Fitzgerald on experimental plays, especially when he’s such an unstoppable part of your offense.

The Tampa defense actually impressed me, for once. Sure, they couldn’t stop Fitzgerald, or Boldin, or any of those other guys, but they got a few sacks in on Warner, and made a few good stands near the red zone, limiting the Cards to field goals twice, and picking up a couple INTs.

Any idea why the running game wasn’t working? Is the Arizona defense just that strong, do my running backs totally suck, or both?

Just for comparison, Beanie Wells was Arizona’s leading back, with 12 carries for 57 yards. Cadillac Williams got the nod for Tampa, and had 10 carries for 15 yards. Behind him, Earnest Graham went 4 for 0. They just couldn’t break the line.

Cardinals have a very good defensive line and linebackers. Factor that in with your horrible offensive line and some human defensive playcalling, and we have the result.

And I was shooting for 60 points.
