In a game of self-inflicted wounds, the Cardinals fall to the Panthers, 24-14.

Not to dismiss strummer’s Panthers, as it took some game planning, focusing on stopping his running game - which was done to relative success - but I beat myself. Three picks and a fumble, all in the red zone, with the picks being in the endzone itself.

Oh, and there was also this painful play of bad luck. Oy.

Good on strummer. Hopefully I don’t have to face him in the playoffs, as I don’t think I’ll do so well against his running attack a second time.

Okay, so, anyone seen Cubit? We were suppose to play at 10:00 pm EST, but it’s nearly 11:00 now… According to Live, he was last seen an hour ago, playing GTA 4 on the PC.

I hope you’ll reconsider. The difference in money/credit you’ll get for this game between now and August/September is likely negligible and in the mean time there’s still plenty of gaming time left for you. I’m with the rest of the folks posting in this thread that would like to see us try to squeeze a third season out of this league before making the jump to Madden 11.

I just checked your upcoming schedule: you have a bunch of games scheduled against fellow Qt3 players rather than the AI. If you bail out now just because you might not make the playoffs, you’re robbing yourself of those fun gaming interaction opportunities and also making the league less fun for those who will be stuck playing the AI rather than you!

I love you, strummer. Now I can lose to Ryan next week and still have a shot at home field!

Meh. I’ve had lots of fun games with just about everyone that’s been in the the league, I have no intention to go to season three, and I’ve had enough frustration to go along with the fun that this is as good a time as any to close my playbook and hang up my clipboard. Getting an extra ten bucks for the game is really just icing.

You shut your mouth! Some of us want home field advantage!

Nah, in all seriousness, I love that I have only had one A.I. game up to this point, and I love playing you guys. Stick around!

It was certainly an entertaining game, consisting mostly of the Cardinals marching up and down the field and the Panthers getting stuffed. That is until a big play would break in favor of Carolina. Such as the aforementioned interceptions in the endzone, the 85-yd fumble recovery for a TD and the obligatory long one for Williams.

I am sure it was frustrating for NOoU to do so well on 90% of the field only to come away empty on 4 trips inside the 10.

I’d really like to get in on this if you guys do a 3rd season or even take over some crappy team for a few games for this season, is this possible?

Pretty sure we’re good with someone coming in playing for a team not set for the playoffs for the end of the season. Ask Talisker about this.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Don’t sweat it. I got in some practice instead, although I think Madden is defaulting to a lower difficulty than All Pro, because all of a sudden the Bucs were awesome. Maybe that’s just what happens when you play the AI Chiefs, though.

Trust me, it was the Chiefs. The Dolphins were playing WAY above All-Pro in the 4th quarter of my game. Bunch of cheating bastards, them.

Sure, grab whatever team looks good; we’re far enough from the end of the season that none of 'em have a lock for the postseason just yet (although Indy is close). For maximum fun, I’d suggest a team with three other humans in the division – ie, the Bengals, Giants, or Falcons. Or the Bears if Technoverse never shows back up.

PM me your gamertag, and I’ll send you a league invite.

Fair warning - the Falcons take on the New Orleans juggernaut twice. I recommend the Giants!

Season 3 idea: how 'bout we do shorter games (say, 5 min quarters), rolling over twice per week (Wednesdays and Sundays)?

Eh… I’d probably drop out if that ends up being the case. I don’t like super-short games because it feels like I can’t get anything going, and I won’t commit to two games per week, not with all of my other commitments. Five minute quarters, Talisker, would have ended our first game at 7-7, since you and I both had 10 to 12-play drives that took up the better part of a quarter, each.

That said, I WILL commit to two games per week if I make the playoffs, to help those go by quickly. But during the regular season, I can’t. I’m in two Dominions 3 games, I run two tabletop RPGs each week, I’m without fail immersed in some RPG of insane depth, and my wife will have some choice words for me if I’m spending every single evening in something that shuts me off from her.

Yeah, this wouldn’t really be doable. 5 minute quarters are not a football game, that’s a ping-pong game. I think our current game length is perfect because it gives a realistic chance for comebacks and requires a bit more strategy. 5 minute quarters mean that as soon as you’re up by two scores, you’ve won the game.

Also, we’ve got enough players who can’t manage to sit down and finish ONE game per week (you know who you are!) - two would be asking a lot.

Although some folks might be interested in a twice-a-week short-quarters franchise. “Madden 10 ADD Kids Game” or something.

Hey new guy! Take the Bengals! You’re guaranteed to not make the playoffs this year, but you’ll fill out the most lopsided division in the NFL!

I’ve seen leagues on other forums that ran more in that style – was just throwing the idea out there to see what people thought. I’m perfectly happy rolling a third season as-is :)
