Not to be a douche, but why a 10 minute window for picking free agents? For those of us on the east coast with a late pick, that’s pretty late. May I suggest that no one needs that long to pick a free agent. 5 minutes (or less) would be more than sufficient and would get the whole thing done pretty quickly.
Also, Cold Shoulder (Cardinals) and I (Giants) are trading Gerald Hayes (MLB) for Bruce Johnson (CB). Should I release Johnson to the free agent pool?
I’d be fine with 5 min. That is still an eternity compared to the 1 min we get during the draft. :)
As long as picking times are clearly laid out, I don’t think there will be a problem with people being off, unless they want to be.
On another note, it looks like Acheng left the franchise.
Aww dammit. I like that guy.
I am excited for the rookie draft! Glad to get back into the league.
Trades should happen after the draft, since we can’t add people from the free agent pool until that point.
Seems like folks are cool with 5-minute timing, in draft order. So that will be:
Starting time: 9:00pm Eastern (all times below Eastern)
9:00 - Buccaneers
9:05 - Jets
9:10 - Patriots
9:15 - Falcons
9:20 - Steelers
9:25 - Lions
9:30 - 49ers
9:35 - Dolphins
9:40 - Eagles
9:45 - Panthers
9:50 - Rams
9:55 - Chiefs
10:00 - Chargers
10:05 - Bears
10:10 - Giants
10:15 - Ravens
10:20 - Colts
10:25 - Vikings
10:30 - Bills
10:35 - Cardinals
After 10:40pm Eastern, any other latecomers to the league may take a pick. Remember, this is not saying you only have 5 minutes to make your pick, this is “you can make your first free agency pick no earlier than this time” - dibs order, that’s all.
At 7pm Eastern / 4pm Pacific, Wednesday, February 9th, we will officially kick off Week 1, at which time free agency is open, trades can be done, and we’ll drive on forward.
WOOT, that looks good to me.
I do have one clarification though. After you roll forward tonight after the draft, we will already be in week 1.
Are you saying on Tuesday everyone can make one free agent pick (at the times listed), and then after 7pm EST on Wed we can do whatever and start playing our games and whatnot?
Yes, that is what I am saying, thanks.
Bah, offseason stuff is complicated!

Any idea what interface is better for drafting? Web or in-game? I was kind of planning on having both open but not sure how each handles timers etc.
iirc from last year, both in-game and the website worked, but I really don’t trust that website with an extremely time sensitive draft. I’ve had it act funny just browsing around.
The website might be fine, but I’m paranoid. :)
I recommend game - mostly because we can get a party chat going and ridicule everyone’s picks, like Jeff drafting a QB in the first round or something.

Depending on how things shake up in the draft and FA, I’m probably going to be open to trading one of my 90 ranked LBs (Urlacher and Lance Briggs) and possibly Julius Peppers. Main targets would be the O line, DT, Safeties, or WR.

I’ll trade you (WR)Bryant who is in the 80s somewhere. Low to mid, I think. Also available for a draft pick instead if you prefer.
“So now that I’ve taken over the Bears, my goal is to make them as non Bear-like as possible. Run & Shoot, baby!”
I love the idea of having an XBL party for the draft. What’s the maximum size for a party anyway?
For some reason the niners have a second kicker rated (iirc) 82 or 83. Shayne Graham is on the trading block. I don’t know what I want for him yet, but if you want him make some offers.
Hey, how about Dwight Lowery?

As a long time Bears fan, I reserve the right to change the destiny of the team! Jay Cutler proved he is made up of the right stuff, so I’m molding the team in his image… choke
lol, sounds good. I need some depth at cornerback.
I’m pretty sure they added voice chat to the draft lobby, so if we have more than 8 or 10 people to fit in a live party we can just use the in game chat.
