Good on you for playing the game out and sticking with the result.

Just for the record, I really hope everyone does this. It is a little alarming to see games against the CPU restarted multiple times.

I too have an ex Big East QB (Brian Brohm) that is rated 69 to trade for a good DT, CB, or any other position. I am looking forward to where you want to hand me an 80+ rated player for my easily replaceable backup QB.

what are you saying? ha ha nevermind I know what you are saying.

I like tight AI games, but its wins sometimes feel really flukey.

EDIT: what Erik said, its just more fun that way

Every now and then, you get One of Those Games.

Trade offers: I have a third-string RB, Laurence Maroney, who is pretty much lost on my team. Maroney is a tolerable power back that would be a good platoon back with someone else – think Thomas Jones as a good comparison. I believe Maroney is a 78.

I am looking for:

A linebacker, rated 72-76, preferably outside but I will take middle. Alternatively, a defensive end of the same rating. I’m not looking for a star because I’m not trading a star, but I could use more depth as I try to see which members of my defense are worth keeping and which are worth throwing into the spears so my stars can climb up over them instead. Anyone want a good quality backup/part-time RB?

Why is Devin Moore your star running back when you have Addai and Brown on the roster who are both rated above 80?

Ambien. It’s a hell of a drug.

Oh yeah, sure, I remember messing up Eddie Murphy’s couch…

I lost to the AI Saints last season. Actually it was Butteryhanded Greg Camarillo who lost to the AI Saints. I think he was eating shrimp 'n grits on the sideline before the play.

We avenged the loss in the playoffs tho.

Fire up a game with Moore and you’ll see. Crazy quick with great agility. When you’re in sync, he can cut “S” patterns through a defense, not to mention that he can get to the edge like Giovanni Girley.

Speed is one hell of a drug.

I’d be interested in Donald Brown btw. Don’t tell Toby Gearhart tho.

CJ Spiller approves of this message.

Speed is nice, but it isn’t the be all end all for backs. There is a reason the guy is rated 65 OVR, and Brown and Addai are 80+.

jpinard, check the madden site, I have an offer for you.

Speed and agility. By the time Addai saunters to a gap he gets crushed.

Sorry, I can’t do that. Since I run Nickel most downs my CB’s are really critical.

lol, saunters? Addai’s speed and acceleration ratings are only a few ticks below Moore’s. Addai’s awareness, catching, route running, blocking, and carrying more than make up for any deficiency in speed or acceleration.

You can start whoever you want but Moore’s carry rating alone would scare me away. :)

And to think you could have had Antonio Cromartie if you hadn’t been all selfish and wanted to keep Peyton Manning all to yourself.

Cough Forte cough

You’d think Addai would hit gaps well at that speed/accel but in-game he just never does. Last season Addai might break through the line and see nothing but end-zone ahead… I’d be like, “Yeehaaa! TD!”… then he just seems to go into slowbee mode and is caught from behind by the local 900 lb Sloth. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with me not knowing how to use running backs better with all the fancy moves they can do.

Basic running goes thusly: See a hole, run towards it. You control the back, though. The CPU will see a hole, run at it, and do some stupid unnecessary stutter step or spin, etc. Part of the problem is you’re letting the CPU run for you. You need to take control of these guys. If you use Addai, run towards a hole, and then push up on your right stick. That will cause him to put his shoulder down, cover up the ball, and just try to plow ahead. That’s how you run with guys like that. Spiller is different, he beats people to the edges or gives them the ol’ oopty oop. Use your guys plusses, which is knocking people down. With Addai, start with using up on the right stick.

EDIT: Also, look at the long run Omni and I posted of Spiller breaking one off for a long TD. That’s his strength. He goes to the outside, if that one LB gets him, short gain, but I put the stutter step on and take off upfield. Same idea with Addai, except you’d shoulder through the guy (though I think Addai has the skills to do quick moves, too.)
