Bernie can’t swing back. He is borderline senile.

Warren can swing back with ease. She grew up in the heart land.

As can Pete, who, unlike Trump, is a practicing Christian, and veteran and a Patriot.

If you put Pete and Trump in a room together, it emphases just how old and insane Trump is.

If you put Bernie and Trump in a room together, all you see are too old white people.

Through the bifocal spectacles perched on my nose, I see what you did there.

Bloomberg and Trump; two old white rich people. Yay.

This I don’t believe for one minute. Not that he can’t swing back, but that no one else can as or more effectively. Let’s not forget that he couldn’t even beat Hillary.

I sort of want Bloomberg to get the nomination just so he and Trump can verbally spar face to face. I suspect Bloomberg will destroy him. Unfortunately, there’s few other reasons I’d like Bloomberg.

I was amazed to see him continue after his heart attack and stents. My angioplasty took a while to recover and regain fitness levels and mental confidence and I didn’t have an attack and am 30 years younger. All props to him but I’m not sure I would want to subject my country to the ticking time bomb in my chest. The US doesn’t need any more instability and uncertainty post Trump.

Yikes, PWK, you’re too young to have to go through that. I hope you’ve recovered well.

I completely agree with you in regards to Bernie. Even without the heart attack, I have many concerns with someone that age taking that office. He’d need a very strong VP pick as I think the chances would be pretty high that he would die or have to step down during his term.

In hindsight, I will claim I did that on purpose.

  1. We’re never getting the Christian vote so long as we’re pro choice. Christians don’t care about morality, goodness, kindness, or anything Jesus taught. They care about keeping America white and keeping women in their place. Pete being Christian doesn’t matter at all.

  2. I love Warren. I love her policies. Her confidence has taken a hit. I don’t think she can go toe to toe with Trump. He will eat her alive.

  3. Bernie didn’t go after Hillary, not very much. Worst he did was call her a Wall Street shill.

I’m sorry he’s old. Guess what, so is Trump. Trump looks younger because of his spray tan, Botox, and hair plugs. Trump, Warren, Biden, Sanders are all in their 70s.

Here’s a problem (which involves both Bernie and the mainstream media):

Trump’s DOJ is poised to “Burisma/Biden” Bernie using some past allegations of financial shenanigans by his wife, Jane Sanders, for which an investigation cleared her.

If she was cleared, why do I say the Trump DOJ is “poised” to smear Bernie & wife? Read the name of the guy who made the complaint that led to the investigation in the first place: Brady Toensing, who was Trump’s Vermont campaign chair in 2016. So, a local Trump partisan from 2016 went after Bernie in Vermont. No big deal.

But read the guy’s name again: Brady Toensing, son of Victoria Toensing and Joe Di Genova, who are in Trump’s inner circle and also neck-deep in the Ukraine mess.

And what is Brady Toensing up to these days? Oh, he got hired by the DOJ. He’s now “Senior Counsel” at the DOJ Office of Legal Policy.

I believe with a very high degree of expectation that an “investigation” of Bernie will be coming if he emerges as the Dem candidate.

You would think with the Ukraine mess in clear view and with all we’ve learned of Trump that the mainstream media would see this as the transparent attempt to manipulate the election and abuse prosecutorial discretion that it will certainly be. But then we get to the mainstream media’s breathless coverage of “scandal”, both sides-ism, normalization of corruption and abuse of power, etc. etc.

And then there’s a political element: this “investigation” will be used to allege Bernie is just a crooked rich guy, and between the angle of that attack and Bernie’s general crankiness and lack of experience being under the million degree heat of the GOP attack machine, I have little confidence he deals with it well.

Ideologically, Bernie should be my second choice behind my preferred candidate, Warren, but the more I think about, the more I feel like he can’t win. And not b/c he’s a self-described socialist, but b/c I don’t have strong confidence in his ability to win the coming flame wars.

This whole “investigation” BS is the dirtiest possible politics and abuse of power yet I believe it will definitely happen (just as I fear similar attacks on Biden, and on all Dems to be honest) but I specifically worry that these attacks will be insurmountable for Bernie.

No matter who the Democratic nominee is, Barr will announce an investigation of them the day after the convention. And the mainstream media will eat it up.

Which means a key criterion in voting for a Dem candidate is assessing how well or poorly they are likely to do when hit with such a BS investigation. I feel like both Warren and Buttigieg are better poised to counterpunch on this than either Bernie or Biden.

I say this as a Warren fan, but what makes you feel that way about her? Her response to ‘Pocahontas’ was… not good. And that’s the level of muck coming her way.

For what it’s worth, I have not seen one indication of this in the debates.
Hell, I wish I could be that senile.

I’m talking about “investigations” from a corrupt DOJ, and I believe Warren, with her legal experience and political experience, is actually reasonably well poised to push back on “legal” investigations/attacks.

However, one legitimate worry about Warren is that she has not done well when countering “political” attacks such as the “Pocahontas” BS and the attacks from centrist Dems in the October/November time frame of last year. So honestly, Warren has some vulnerabilities, just IMO less than Bernie or Biden.

One of the truly frustrating things to me in 2020 is that the GOP attack machine has been so successful, and the mainstream media so feckless, that every 2020 Dem has some vulnerabilities. Whether or not those vulnerabilities are insurmountable is a key question.

Yeah like he did last time. Like he’s not doing now? He has already swung, and it wasn’t impressive at all. Bloomberg is doing better than he is, and that man is pretty awful.

And yet here she still is. Trump has gone after her the longest and the hardest. He is taking Biden down with one thing and doesn’t even have to open two eyes for Bernie.

Warren is transparently the smartest of the four, the best legal mind of the four, and IMO the best counter-puncher of the four. So I agree she’d whether the coming attack better than the others. Add to that that she’s probably less attackable on the merits than her fellow septuagenarians, not having been entrenched in Washington for 3 decades. That’s a lot of opportunity the others face.

Also, too: if she’s the same age as Biden and Bernie, she is actuarially younger, with a longer shelf life remaining.

You’re exactly right.

We’re fucked, 2020. Who wants the T-Shirt?

Oh, totally makes sense. Sorry, I’m in a bit of a fog due to some medication and I picked up the counterpunch part but the investigation stuff didn’t register. I appreciate you taking the time to clarify for me. :)

Legal mind? Sorry, when did laws and norms start mattering to Republicans again? I missed that.
